Chapter 86: Is it this woman?

Chapter 86: Chapter 86: Is it this woman?

"Sir, thank you." The beautiful young woman looked at Peter Brown with gratitude as they left the police station. She understood that without him today, she would probably be in serious trouble.

"No problem, it’s my duty. Thankfully, the gang has been caught; otherwise, there’s no telling how many people they would have swindled," Peter shook his head.

If he hadn’t gotten involved today, he figured the woman would have followed the route they had set up for her, and there’s no telling what methods they would have used to extort her money.

"I heard you’re called Peter Brown?"

"Yes, my name is Peter Brown."

"This is my business card. If you need my help, just give me a call."

As she spoke, the woman took out a business card.

Noticing Peter’s gaze when he accepted the card, the woman said, "I’m no longer with that company. Just take down the phone number."

Peter saw a string of English words and couldn’t figure out what they meant. He simply nodded and said, "Alright, I got it."

The business card looked high-class, prompting Peter to wonder about the woman’s experience in the company.

However, Peter had his doubts about the woman. She didn’t seem like the type to run a large company, and he wasn’t sure where Edward Martin found her.

With a casual gesture, he tucked the card into his clothing pocket.

Now Peter knew her name was Phoenix Taylor.

"Peter, if it wasn’t for you today, I would have thought I hit someone. Do you have time? I’d like to treat you to dinner."

Remembering Edward’s appointment, Peter quickly replied, "I have another appointment, maybe another time."

"Where do you have to go? I can give you a ride." Phoenix was grateful for Peter’s help in standing up to the gang. She knew it was not easy for him to prove his innocence in the face of their accusations.

After Peter hesitated, Phoenix said, "It’s alright. I’ll take you there without any trouble."

Peter told her the address.

Upon hearing the location, Phoenix smiled and said, "That’s on my way. I have to go there too."

As he got into Phoenix’s car, Peter jokingly asked, "Your car looks pretty wrecked. Can it still be driven?"

"No worries. I’ll drive us there first, then have someone tow it for repairs."

Phoenix stepped on the accelerator, and the car was off in no time.

Curious about Peter’s methods, she asked, "How did you get that old man to jump that way?"

Not just her, but many onlookers were also curious about Peter’s approach.

Peter just laughed and said, "It wasn’t much; I just hit his acupoints for laughter and itching."

"So, you’re a martial arts expert?" Phoenix looked at Peter with beautiful, wide eyes.

"Just a little."

"Wow, you’re really amazing!"

As they discussed the day’s events, Phoenix felt increasingly fearful. She said, "Their gang is so powerful that not just anyone could beat them. You’re really incredible." As she spoke, gratitude and admiration filled her eyes.

Seeing her look, Peter felt somewhat smug. It was really nice to be admired by such a beautiful woman.

Just then, Peter’s cell phone rang. When he answered, he realized it was a call from Edward.

"Peter, what’s going on? You’re not there yet?"

"Soon, soon."

Peter didn’t mention helping Phoenix.

As soon as he hung up, Phoenix’s phone rang. She answered directly through the car phone without avoiding Peter.

Sitting in the car, Peter unexpectedly heard Edward’s voice.

"Sister, aren’t you there yet?"

Phoenix replied, "I had some minor issues, but I’ll be there soon. Who is this boss you want to introduce me to? I told you, don’t introduce me to any ordinary bosses. I don’t have that much time."

Her tone was quite assertive during the conversation.

"Sister, don’t worry. The project I mentioned is really good. At least, check it out first."

"Fine, I’ll be there soon. We’ll talk more when we meet."

"Is it her?" Peter glanced at Phoenix, who was driving the car, and wondered if the woman Edward wanted him to meet was her.

Seeing Peter’s gaze, Phoenix asked in confusion, "What’s wrong?"

"Nothing, nothing."

Peter scratched his head.

"It’s my cousin. He just returned from abroad, and he’s been pestering me!"

"What does Phoenix do?"

"Not much; I was the sales director in an international group specializing in wine. I’m not working there anymore. I’ll take a break and see."

So, she deals with wine?

Now, Peter was 100% sure that Phoenix was the manager Edward wanted to introduce to him.

At that moment, he took a closer look at Phoenix. She was quite beautiful, and the best part was that she looked to be only around 30 years old, probably around 27 or 28, projecting an air of intelligence and competence.

"My cousin mentioned introducing me to a farmer entrepreneur, saying he was producing some type of wine. It’s a bit embarrassing, but since he insisted, I agreed to meet. He was hounding me earlier." Phoenix didn’t hide anything from Peter and told him everything about meeting a certain boss.

"Edward Martin is your cousin?" Peter asked directly.

"You?" Phoenix looked at Peter in surprise.

Scratching his head, Peter said awkwardly, "I might be the person Edward wants you to get acquainted with."

Phoenix looked at Peter in astonishment. Almost losing control of the car, she hit the brakes while exclaiming, "You’re the farmer entrepreneur Edward was talking about?"

"Ha, Edward was just exaggerating. I’m just a farmer; what entrepreneur?"

Phoenix laughed and said, "Edward made you sound incredible. What exactly are you planning, Peter? Even though you helped me, if your business is not promising, I won’t get involved."

"Of course, it has to be satisfactory for both parties."

"What do you mean? Are you implying I’m not capable?" Phoenix was sensitive and immediately caught Peter’s meaning. She stared at him intently.

"No, no. When the time comes, you can learn more about our situation, especially the wine. Taste it, and if it’s good, we can discuss further."

"Alright, originally, I was just going to humor him. But since it’s your company, I will seriously consider it."

Peter never expected things to turn out this way. It seemed he and Phoenix were destined.
