Chapter 1860: Chapter 1858 In the Prince’s Mansion
The Beast-drawn Carriage entered Kingston, and as Peter Brown looked at the bustling scenes, he found it hard to associate such vibrancy with a chaotic country.
It was clear that this was a very prosperous city, and a rather large one at that.
Peter moved towards the heart of the city, while Philips Williams and his companions seemed very adept, handling every matter in an orderly fashion.
Observing the competence of Philips Williams and his cohort, Peter couldn’t help but nod inwardly. Having such people around was indeed useful; it saved him the trouble of attending to numerous matters himself.
"Your Highness, these are the people sent by the Royal Consort to receive us."
Philips Williams brought a eunuch over and began to introduce him to Peter.
As Peter turned to look at the man, the man had already knelt on the ground, saying, "Servant Allen Smith greets Your Highness."
"Rise," Peter said. Seeing that the man was sent by the Royal Consort, Peter began to ponder what sort of woman his nominal wife might be.
"Thank you, Your Highness."
Once Allen Smith stood up, Peter immediately asked, "What is the current situation in the city?"
"Your Highness, the situation in the city is quite dire, with all powers having returned to Kingston."
Knowing he wouldn’t learn much from him, Peter simply nodded and said, "Follow along."
The motorcade moved deeper into the city.
As it progressed, suddenly a convoy appeared up ahead, followed by a soft voice coming through.
"Isn’t this Harvey? I didn’t expect you to come back alive."
"It’s Jacob, huh? I didn’t expect you to be alive either."
With a laugh, the Seventh Prince Jacob Winchester looked at Peter again and said, "Truly a long life!"
As Jacob led his convoy away, Peter fell into thought. The situation in King’s City was indeed becoming interesting.
The motorcade soon arrived at the gates of a grand mansion.
Looking up, Peter knew this was the Prince’s Mansion where he was now residing.
"Your Highness, we’ve arrived!"
Philips Williams was clearly more excited than Peter; in his eyes, this was home.
"Greetings, Your Highness, welcome back to the Mansion."
The gates were already wide open, and a crowd of people came out to greet him, kneeling on the ground and shouting in unison.
This was the first time for Peter to encounter such an event, and he stared at the people who came to greet him in astonishment.
At that moment, Peter truly saw himself as a prince.
"Greetings, Your Highness."
Then, a gentle and beautiful voice reached his ears.
Looking in the direction of the voice, Peter caught sight of a breathtakingly beautiful girl.
"Greetings to the Royal Consort."
At this moment, Philips Williams and the others also knelt down.
Seeing the Royal Consort, Peter looked at her, and she, somewhat shyly, returned the gaze.
"All rise."
Since things had come to this, Peter didn’t care much and simply had everyone stand up.
Striding forward with resolve, Peter looked at the beauty and said, "Thank you for your trouble."
"It is my duty," she responded.
After such an exchange, the two were formally acquainted.
Stepping inside the Mansion, Peter then called everyone out and turned to his consort, "Joyce, how much do you know about the current situation?"
The consort’s name was Sophia Baker, which he learned from Philips Williams.
Sophia Baker, seeing that Peter harbored no aversion to her, relaxed a little. Her family was facing significant troubles, and she had genuine concerns about how the Fourteenth Prince might perceive her.
Her initially anxious state changed due to Peter’s demeanor.
"Your Highness, ever since His Majesty ascended to Heaven, the situation in King’s City has changed considerably. Various factions are supporting different princes, and there are even those who support the old Prince_Wang. Regarding our side’s power, there is only my father. But as soon as Father spoke on your behalf, the ministers collaborated to imprison him, and he’s still in jail."
At this point, Peter understood Sophia’s concerns for her family members.
The girl was truly among King’s City’s bright women, clearly understanding the city’s affairs. After hearing her introduction, Peter quickly gained a thorough insight into the city’s matters.
With a newfound understanding of King’s City, for the first time, Peter felt concerned about whether he could hold his own.
"Don’t worry, I will definitely rescue Father-in-Law."
After comforting Sophia, Peter proceeded to James Shore’s place.
Upon seeing James, Peter inquired, "Do you know the current stance of the Sects towards the various powers in King’s City?"
Hearing Peter’s question, James looked at him and said, "I was just looking to speak with you about this matter. Everyone knows the situation in King’s City is complicated, so a consensus was reached. The agreement is that no one will openly target a prince below. The princes will compete for the Imperial Throne on their own merit!"
Looking at Peter, James continued, "Our Faction’s experts have arrived, so we need not fear anyone in terms of high-end power. However, among the princes, you are clearly at a disadvantage."
"At a disadvantage?"
A hint of scorn crept onto Peter’s lips, for who truly knew the extent of his power.
With this thought, Peter asked, "So you mean, as long as I can defeat them, I can do as I please?"
James responded, "Correct, that’s the current agreement. We cannot interfere in how you compete; everyone will even withdraw from King’s City. This will become your battleground."
James sighed, "I am aware of your situation. It will indeed be difficult for you to compete with those powerful fellows. Be careful."
"Master Sun, you should know my Army has a Ten Absolute Array and Energy Bombs. I have contributed both to the Sect, and I plan to use them to wreak havoc in King’s City. If trouble arises, I hope for your support."
Nodding slightly, James said, "That’s no issue; your Energy Bombs are formidable, but they’re not very effective against those above the Ten-Star Realm. Be mindful, as we know there are princes who have exceeded this cultivation level."
"Don’t worry, I’ll carve out a territory for myself no matter what."
"Very well, we will leave this afternoon. Everyone will retreat to the nearest large city, and from there, King’s City is yours to command."
