Chapter 1754: Chapter 1752: Utter Chaos
Strength of Ten Dragons!
After Peter Brown had absorbed all the medicinal power, he found ten dragon-shaped energies in his dan tian; they were indeed ten little dragons, albeit weak.
Looking at the scale again, the scale that represented energy was now full.
Indeed, achieving the Strength of Ten Dragons satisfied one of the conditions for leveling up. Together with the battle achievement of killing ten people, he was just one scale away from upgrading from the Warrior Level to Martial Artist.
This method of upgrading was somewhat puzzling to Peter Brown, but that was what the stele dictated, and he had no choice but to level up according to the rules of this realm.
Peter Brown was fully capable of driving away, but he understood that upgrading probably needed to occur under dangerous conditions—the more dangerous, the easier it seemed to upgrade.
After Peter Brown returned to the barracks, the whole place immediately descended into chaos.
Peter Brown could see the seriousness on many people’s faces.
Larry Wilson came to sit beside Peter Brown and whispered, "It’s chaos, everyone has fled."
"What should we do?" Peter Brown also asked in a low voice.
"What else can we do? The city gate is shut, the formation is activated, and the Count Captain is now in charge of the military. He is determined to share fate with Sunny County. People have just been sent here, and a military order has been announced; anyone who retreats in face of battle will be executed on the spot."
"Can we win?"
"Whether we can win or not, sigh, it looks like we have a big problem. You’ll see; our County Guard Army will definitely be pushed to the front lines. We’re just cannon fodder."
As the two were talking, a group of soldiers clad in armor marched over with large strides.
"Assemble!"
The leading person yelled.
Peter Brown and others immediately walked over and lined up in a row.
"I am Sergio Carter, appointed by the Count Captain as the Commander of the County Guard Army. From now on, I am in command. I don’t care about your circumstances; our county town is surrounded by a chaotic army, and we have only one task—to ensure that County Town does not fall. At this critical moment, anyone who dares to retreat will be executed without mercy."
The moment these words were spoken, the entire County Guard Army immediately erupted into chaos with various voices erupting.
However, Peter Brown understood that now was definitely not the time to speak, and he must show obedient behavior. The arrival of a new official was sure to be marked by a warning kill.
Sure enough, as the Army descended into turmoil, Sergio Carter said sternly, "Those who disobey orders, execute!"
As his words fell, several Martial Master Level warriors rushed forward, quickly dragging out a few of those who were causing a ruckus.
When Peter Brown looked over, Harry Turner, who had previously spoken to him, was among them.
"Execute!"
Sergio Carter issued the command outright.
Purpurpur...
Suddenly, more than ten heads rolled out in front of everyone.
The County Guard Army instantly quieted down.
No one had anticipated such events unfolding, and many were so frightened that they wet their pants.
So it was indeed so!
Peter Brown stood there without moving, still exhibiting the demeanor of a soldier.
Peter Brown even noticed that Sergio Carter’s gaze lingered on him for a moment.
When he became aware of this, Peter Brown was startled and thought of many things. Having come from the Lower Realm, he first met Kane Nelson; then he saw the Honorable Magistrate, who made him a Guest Minister and even placed him under the County Guard Army. Considering the Honorable Magistrate had left in a Flying Car, the Count Captain surely knew about it. All of this related to him. Therefore, the Count Captain certainly would not have a fond opinion of him. Peter guessed that Sergio Carter might even have contemplated killing him on the spot, but he did not do so only because Peter had shown an obedient demeanor.
Looking at those who had been killed, Peter even speculated that most of the deceased were probably people affiliated with the Honorable Magistrate’s faction.
That was close!
Peter Brown now stood even more cautiously.
Seeing that everyone was intimidated, Sergio Carter snorted and said, "Now I will restructure you into squads, and all actions must follow commands."
The people he brought obviously became the captains of the groups.
Peter Brown was no longer in his original small team but was drafted into a new one.
Once the teams were formed, Sergio Carter said, "Our squad’s task is to guard the east gate on the city wall, follow me now!"
At this point, the County Guard Army really dared not resist; everyone followed Sergio Carter very carefully.
Once at the city wall, Peter Brown understood the situation. The ground ahead was flat, an advantageous area for the enemy troops to launch their assault. He indeed had been placed in the most dangerous spot.
"Don’t worry, the highest among them might be at the Martial Master Level; we should be able to withstand their attack. If anyone kills an enemy, they earn ten Reward Crystal Coins. Conversely, anyone who deserts in the face of the enemy will be executed by the law enforcement team without mercy," Sergio Carter declared.
Peter Brown was assigned to a section of the wall.
Sergio Carter handed Peter a large sword and a bow and arrow, looked at him once more, and then left.
Looking around, Peter found that Larry Wilson was not defending this wall but was assigned elsewhere; it seemed that he might be the only person at the Warrior Level here.
He really was in the shadow of the Honorable Magistrate!
Peter didn’t ponder much further and, seeing everyone sitting on the ground of the city wall, also sat down.
He checked over his entire body; his newly equipped Nano Stealth Armor had a concealment property, making it invisible to outsiders. The newly prepared Crystal Core Guns were also inside his Ring Storage Bag, not to be used until the crucial moment.
Well, now it was time to see what this battle would turn into.
Time passed bit by bit, until someone suddenly exclaimed.
At the shout, everyone peeked out, and their faces drastically changed.
From a distance, an army was charging toward them.
Looking at the scene, dust was flying, and the troops stretched endlessly.
So many people?
Peter was somewhat shocked and instinctively looked up at the sky. After looking, he breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, this was not a place where Cultivators could fly into the sky. Here, it was about strength; they could not fly—only Flying Beasts could.
Clearly, the opponents had no ability to fly.
After observing carefully for a while, Peter shook his head at the sight of the approaching people. Their clothes were vastly different; they didn’t look like regular Soldiers at all.
Mob!
The term popped up immediately.
Now, with rebellions everywhere, these people were likely gathered from various places into an army of Farmers.
