Chapter 1680: Chapter 1678: Professors Scramble for Talent
"He’s finished this one." A middle-aged teacher brought in Peter Brown’s examination paper and the professors at Provincial University all gathered around.
For Peter Brown, the person who had managed to score full marks previously, the professors were all interested, and everyone wanted to see what kind of results he could achieve this time.
The examination paper was laid on the table, and a professor had already begun marking it.
"My goodness, there is such a solution!"
A professor’s eyes lit up, staring at the methodology used to solve the problem for a long time without speaking.
After a while, he slapped his thigh and exclaimed, "Indeed, it works!"
"This solution is also quite distinctive!"
Another professor was now pondering yet another problem on the paper.
This examination also posed many challenges, and one could easily make mistakes if not careful, yet the professors were dazzled by Peter Brown’s work.
"Here, look quick, this is an entirely new method."
Everyone began to contemplate.
With a slap on the thigh, a professor said, "Indeed, this method is far superior to ours, how did he come up with it?"
"Gentlemen, I want to recruit him for my graduate students."
"Don’t even think about it, I am recruiting him too."
At that moment, two professors started arguing right there and then.
As the liaison, Crystal Harris was watching the professors argue; she was genuinely amazed. Peter Brown had managed to pique the interest of these nationally renowned professors, which was an extraordinary feat.
"Take a look, this problem here, he’s given us an entirely new perspective. If it holds up, our knowledge of mechanics could significantly advance!"
Upon hearing this, everyone began to think hard again, and some professors even started to verify the solutions.
After a while, a professor who was verifying the solution exclaimed in shock, "It’s valid, it really is!"
"I want this student."
"What do you mean, you want him? I’ve already accepted him without the need for examination."
"No way, with such strength in mechanics, he must come to my place."
Just then, the principal entered, and upon hearing everyone’s arguments, he too showed a look of astonishment, "Is he really that impressive?"
"Zach, he’s stronger than you can imagine. I believe some of his knowledge is world-class."
"You don’t say!"
The principal was completely taken aback. The professor who spoke was no ordinary individual; he was a prominent figure in the field of mechanics domestically, and his endorsement carried weight.
"He is strong in mechanics, but I’ve discovered his knowledge in computer science is even more formidable. Look at the content he was tested on last time; some of it is very advanced. I am claiming this student."
"I, on the other hand, feel his capabilities in materials science are even stronger. His application and understanding of materials have exceeded many of our known concepts. I feel that if applied, it could have a significant effect on the knowledge of materials science in our country."
"All of this is built upon the foundation of mathematics. I believe he has tremendous potential in math and should come to me."
The professors, each refusing to concede, began arguing heatedly.
The principal was actually thrilled by this; if they could indeed discover such a talent, it would be a great boon for Provincial University.
"We should wait and see how he does in his remaining examinations," he suggested.
The principal was also eager to assess Peter Brown’s full range of abilities.
Over the following period, everyone waited here, and as soon as Peter Brown finished an exam, the paper was promptly brought in for grading.
"His knowledge in physics is amazing. Look at this content; I feel if he delves deeper, winning a Nobel Prize wouldn’t be out of the question!"
"Indeed, truly remarkable. If it weren’t for the examination’s constraints, what he develops further might well be a whole new theory. Principal, his knowledge might well surpass ours, a mere graduate studentship might be undervaluing him!"
"His chemistry isn’t bad either. He has some very interesting understandings in that field as well."
"Aries, where on earth did you dig up this student from?"
The principal then smiled at Crystal Harris.
In the past few days, Crystal Harris had been stunned by Peter Brown’s knowledge. She had never imagined that Peter was this brilliant; hesitantly, she said, "I’ve heard some things about his situation; apparently, he’s self-taught."
"Self-taught?"
The professors turned to Crystal Harris, their curiosity about Peter Brown intensifying.
"Here’s the situation..."
As Crystal Harris explained Peter Brown’s background, they all stared at her in astonishment, never having expected his circumstances to be as such.
"Are you saying he didn’t even finish high school?" a professor asked incredulously.
"One of my old classmates saw him become a temporary worker at their company, so it should be correct."
"A Farmer Temporary Worker, who never attended high school, not to mention lacking a high school graduation certificate!"
Looking at the examination papers on the table, everyone felt as if they were dreaming.
The principal was no longer composed, stunned, he said, "He learned everything by himself?"
"Yes, from what I understand, he’s entirely self-taught, and he also knows three foreign languages."
"Right, he’s also very strong in computers. I heard that once a manager at their company even tested him on the spot."
The professors exchanged glances, and one of them remarked, "Awesome!"
"Indeed, a true genius. If nurtured properly, he has the potential to take a leading position in certain fields with his knowledge."
"Principal, we can’t let such talent slip by. We should keep him here, even if it means making an exception."
"Correct, we must not assess him by his academic qualifications but by his actual abilities."
After thinking for a moment, the principal said, "Aries, discuss with Peter Brown. Let our professors come up with some questions for him to answer. If he qualifies, he can be exceptionally admitted as a graduate student at our school."
Crystal Harris looked at the professors and nodded firmly, "I’ll get in touch with him right away."
As Crystal Harris exited, the principal said, "We shall see where his strengths truly lie. I suggest each of you come up with a cutting-edge question for him to solve. We can then see to what extent he has mastered the subject, and afterward, decide who he should study with."
The professors had no objections; one of them said, "Good idea. Let’s bring out the cutting-edge content and try to get a feel for his level."
As they discussed, Peter Brown too was feeling relaxed. After several days of exams, he had finally finished all his courses today, knowing that with the end of these exams, there shouldn’t be any issue in receiving his undergraduate degree.
Thinking about how he would soon have a degree, which would make things more convenient for him, Peter Brown was in high spirits.
