The Reservoir Project was in preparation, and with a manager in charge, Peter Brown, as the assistant manager, had plenty to do, but he called Project Manager George Bridge and then took a leave. Examinations were a big deal, and George Bridge couldn’t possibly stop him.

After taking the leave, Peter drove towards the provincial city.

Once he entered the campus, Peter arranged to have a meal with June Davis.

She didn’t make him wait for long, and before he knew it, June Davis arrived dressed in the epitome of professional attire.

Gazing at June Davis, Peter couldn’t help noticing why Henry Carter was taken with the beauty, who truly was gorgeous, especially with an air of academia about her, making her stand out among all the women he had encountered.

"Ms. Watson, hello."

When Peter shook June’s warm and soft hand, he could feel the warmth.

"Manager Walter, hello."

"Don’t call me manager, just Peter or Peter will do."

June looked at Peter over and over again, then candidly said, "I never imagined you’d advance so swiftly, you’re a manager now."

That was truly what she thought, as June remembered their last encounter when Peter had come with Henry Carter, and at that time she hadn’t sensed any prospect of advancement from him. Life was unpredictable. Now that Carter had met with trouble, it turned out Peter had moved up.

The dishes were served quickly, and Peter said with a smile, "Ms. Watson, I’m really grateful for all that you’ve done for me, I’ve been wanting to thank you in person."

"What are you saying? Your signing up is a sign of support for me."

As they chatted, June expressed her concerns, "Peter, the examination is also taken seriously by The Higher-Ups. Although joining is easy, the exam itself is very strict, and we definitely won’t know the exam questions in advance."

Hearing this, Peter immediately understood that June thought he had come to probe for exam questions.

"Rest assured, Ms. Watson, an exam isn’t too difficult for me, I’m here today simply to thank you in person, nothing else."

June’s face flushed, and she smiled, "Are you confident?"

"Then that’s good."

After drinking some wine, June’s face turned rosy, and their conversation loosened up.

"Peter, what exactly happened to Henry Carter? How did he end up behind bars so suddenly?"

"The specifics, I don’t know; I only know the anti-corruption campaign is intense this time, with many local figures being caught, and Dexter got involved in this mess."

"I knew he’d get in trouble eventually; he seems shrewd in his dealings, but lacks foresight."

Peter stared at June, somewhat startled.

Seeing his look, June laughed and said, "You probably think Dexter and I were an item, right?"

This beauty was indeed straightforward!

"I got the impression Dexter was pursuing you."

June laughed and replied, "Many are after me, and Dexter was one of them. So, do you have any ideas too?"

Seeing June’s outspoken manner after drinking, Peter was amused and said, "If the beauty gives me a chance, I certainly wouldn’t mind pursuing her."

June laughed heartily and said, "Dexter used to say you’re an honest man, but I think he was wrong about you. You’re way more intense than he is. No wonder you’re thriving while he’s in trouble."

Peter smiled and poured more wine for June, noticing she could really hold her liquor.

After a round of jokes, June said, "Anyway, there’s not much I can do to help with your exam, just do your best. Even if you fail, there’s still the chance to retake, and retakes are much easier."

More tricks to the trade!

Peter had finally realized there were quite a few manipulations possible within this system.

"What’s this retake all about?"

"It’s for those who failed the first time, they’ll pass 100%, but each subject comes with a retake fee of Three thousand."

"That’s also possible?"

"Today’s purpose of my visit is to tell you this. It’s the school’s shady operation, and obviously, the school profits."

Peter thought for a moment and said, "What if I paid to take the exams for the subjects beyond this one, would that work?"

June was taken aback, hesitating, "We’ve never had such a case before, I can’t give you an answer. What are you thinking, you want to take the other exams as well?"

"I’m in a rush to get the certificate, if possible, I’d like to take them all and ensure I pass."

"I see!"

Looking at Peter, June said, "Are you sure? If so, that would be quite a sum. As long as they allow you to take the exams, no matter the cost, I can pay."

After learning about the school’s shady operations, Peter had gotten the gist of things, figuring that as long as the money was right, he could very likely pull it off.

"Let me make a call."

After making a call outside, June came back in.

"I just asked around. Are you sure you want to pay to take the exam?"

"Yes, as long as it’s agreed upon, I intend to take the test based on my actual knowledge."

"The school has a way, but I’m not sure if you’d agree to it."

"What’s the plan?"

"The school can arrange for you to take a separate examination for all subjects. As long as you pass each subject, we’ll issue you your Graduation Certificate."

Peter was somewhat puzzled and said, "I don’t quite understand."

June explained, "Aren’t we a pilot program? Since you have such ability, we certainly can’t stop you. Not only will we not prevent you, but if you can pass everything in one go, it would also boost our school’s reputation."

"That’s how it’s done!"

Peter knew it was a tactic by the school to gain some prestige.

June chuckled and said, "If you fail any subject, you’ll be given one chance to retake it."

"Is that proper?"

"Since we’re a pilot school, we do have some flexibility with certain things. Once you pass this opportunity, you might not get another chance, haha. Anyway, the exam fee is 50,000. If you pass, we’ll refund you. If you fail, we charge 3,000 per subject. Do you really want to take it?"

"So you mean, if I pass everything, I’ll be able to get my certificate right now?"

"That’s right, even if you fail, we’ll still give you a chance to retake."

Then she looked at Peter and added, "If you pass, the school might even use your success for promotion."

After thinking it over, Peter said, "All right, I’ll take the exams!"

"Good, follow along for the first six subjects, and we’ll arrange the other exams for you separately."

"I take exams quickly, one hour per subject will be enough for me. I’ll try to finish everything in one or two days."

June was astonished and asked, "Are you that confident?"

"Absolutely, I have no issues whatsoever."

"Okay, I’ll report this and arrange for you to take the other subjects within two days."

"By the way, can I also sit for the postgraduate exam? If I get the undergraduate certificate, I should be eligible, right?"

After taking another long look at Peter, June realized she was beginning to have trouble figuring him out.
