This was something that no one had expected, and everybody began to calculate at that moment.

However, Henry Carter breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Matthew Clarkson frowning too—as long as it wasn’t one of Matthew Clarkson’s people, it was fine. After all, the Engineering Technology Department was Peter Brown’s territory, and he could handle it however he wanted.

"I know Salem Hill. He was formerly the Deputy Minister and he’s a competent person. I think it’s a good choice."

Henry Carter was the first to express his stance.

Rush Jones nodded and said, "Hmm, that works."

With all three agreeing, there was no need for further expressions of stance; the matter was considered approved.

Henry Carter said, "Then let him serve as the head of the Engineering Technology Department."

The meeting was supposed to discuss the division of work first, but at this point, it had evolved into adjusting personnel instead. Matthew’s complexion turned sour. He had thought that by holding onto Peter, if three people opposed Henry Carter—even as the manager—he wouldn’t be able to forcefully push through some matters. But unexpectedly, issues arose from the Engineering Technology Department, pushing Peter to Henry Carter’s side. He could no longer influence the adjustments; with three votes, plus Henry Carter being the top leader, this kind of adjustment would make sense anywhere. Even if he and Azrael Richardson didn’t attend the meeting, it would be useless; those three could direct the matter themselves.

What to do?

He was now out of moves.

Azrael Richardson’s face had long since darkened. Today was a direct strike to his face. If he took down Fahad Thompson, how would his subordinates view him, and how could he stabilize the situation?

Azrael Richardson even considered standing up and leaving the meeting room immediately, simply canceling the meeting.

But, he had considered the consequences of such an act, which he truly couldn’t bear. What would superiors think of him then?

Sitting in this small meeting room, Azrael Richardson felt as uncomfortable as if he were sitting on pins and needles.

"Next we shall discuss the affairs of the Integrated Office. Comrade Peter Brown is now the deputy manager. We need to find a capable comrade to take up the role of director. Comrade Benjamin Bridge is strong in all aspects. Should he take the position? Let’s discuss."

Matthew Clarkson remained silent, understanding that there was nothing to discuss, as the three of them could decide the matter.

At this point, Peter had to make his stance known, nodding and saying, "Benjamin Bridge indeed is a good person; I agree. However, the Integrated Office also has many tasks. I suggest Comrade Leah Nelson as the deputy director to ensure the office work can be done better."

Soon, the matter was approved.

"Hmm, now it’s the Leadership Department. Everyone knows it’s crucial, a key department. Sonia Wilson fits the bill. What does everyone think?"

At this time, Matthew Clarkson and Azrael Richardson sat there with somber faces, neither speaking.

Peter thought of Florida Collins and interjected, "The Leadership Department is an important department. A singular head might be too weak, especially with constant travel. I think we can appoint a deputy director. Florida Collins from the former engineering department could serve as the Deputy Minister."

Henry Carter frowned at this point, as Peter had not communicated this with him beforehand. In his view, it would have been enough for Peter to secure a position in the engineering department. Now, placing someone in the Leadership Department—what was he trying to do?

Feeling dissatisfied, Henry Carter said, "Florida Collins has just started working not long ago; perhaps she needs more training?"

At that moment, the previously grim-faced Matthew Clarkson’s eyes lit up, and he agreed, "Yes, our middle-level cadres must be some competently strong comrades indeed. I think Comrade Florida Collins is not bad. She is a top graduate from the Provincial University and studied business administration, which in some ways is stronger than Sonia Wilson. Azrael Richardson immediately saw an opportunity and nodded, saying, "I agree with Comrade Florida Collins as the head of the Leadership Department."

Matthew Clarkson secured a position and now also showed a smile. He realized this was an unexpected delight.

The following time was marked by a three-way struggle. Peter shifted from his earlier complete support for Henry Carter and through constant maneuvering, he managed to readjust some of Henry Ford’s original people, placing them in key positions.

Throughout the meeting, Peter managed to secure positions for all the people entrusted to him by Henry Ford. Even the least advantageous ones did not receive a demotion, achieving considerable success.

Exchanging with Matthew Clarkson and the others, Peter even managed to secure a few positions, improving their mood as well.

As for Henry Carter, harboring dissatisfaction towards Peter but knowing it was the result of denying Peter face, he could only endure the discomfort and finish conducting the meeting.

The adjustment of middle-level cadres was thus concluded, and upon adjourning, Matthew Clarkson smiled at Peter and said, "Manager Walter, how about a drink?"

At that moment, Peter of course wouldn’t show closeness with Matthew Clarkson, only responding, "Perhaps another time. I have other matters today."
