Chapter 1617: Chapter 1616: Getting Ready
On a Sunday afternoon, Peter Brown received a call from Rylan Williams.
Rylan Williams said warmly, "Peter, is there anything you need?"
"Mr. Williams, I’m fine. Do you need me to do something?"
As he was reading, Peter Brown knew from Rylan Williams’s voice that he might have to return to work soon.
Sure enough, Rylan Williams said, "You need to book a new set of rooms for me. I have already set off and will soon be back in the county."
"Do you want to stay at the hospital?"
"No need for the hospital. I’m coming back to work and definitely need a set of rooms. See if you can book two better suites for me at the Hua Grand Hotel near the construction site in the county."
"Okay, I’ll go book the rooms right away, the long-term kind."
"Right, I’ll trouble you with this matter."
After hanging up, Peter Brown also had a smile on his face. From this incident, it was evident that Rylan Williams regarded him as a reliable person, although not yet completely his confidant.
Peter Brown quickly reached the location, then booked the rooms on behalf of the branch office—those were the best rooms. Subsequently, Peter Brown went to the original rooms and moved all of Rylan Williams’s belongings back into the new rooms.
Peter Brown estimated that the people coming to take care of Rylan Williams would also occupy a suite, which he also tidied up nicely.
It took him an hour to get everything sorted out properly.
By the time he finished, Rylan Williams’s car had arrived.
This time, Rylan Williams’s elder sister and a nanny had come with him.
Seeing that everything in the rooms was well organized, Rylan Williams’s sister expressed her satisfaction, "Peter, you’ve done a good job."
"It’s my duty."
Seeing that the nanny had also come, Peter Brown hurriedly said, "Mr. Williams, I only opened two suites. I didn’t expect the director would also come. Shall I book another one?"
Rylan Williams smiled and said, "Sure, go ahead and take care of it."
Peter Brown then booked another room next door.
Rylan Williams, sitting in a wheelchair inside the room, looked around and then said to Peter Brown, "You’ve gone through a lot of trouble."
"Manager, let me know if you need anything else. I’ll take care of it."
"That’s fine. I’ll start work tomorrow morning. However, I might not always be there; I’ll spend more time at the hospital. Just report anything you need to me."
Peter Brown agreed, and after arranging everything concerning meals, he left.
Watching Peter Brown’s departing figure, Rylan Williams’s sister said, "Actually, Peter handles things meticulously. You also need such a talent."
Rylan Williams smiled and nodded, "The kid is clever and astute. If used well, he indeed can be a great asset."
"Right, this company is just a transitional place for you. If he is capable, maybe cultivate him a bit. Having our foothold here in the future through him would also be a good thing."
"Alright, I understand. He can take charge of the work at the Integrated Office when he goes to work tomorrow. I think we might as well promote him to director right away," Peter said.
"After all, it’s just a branch office, nothing too serious."
The siblings were discussing Peter Brown’s affairs here and were becoming increasingly satisfied with him.
By this time, Peter had already returned to his residence.
After taking a shower, Peter sat down and continued reading his books.
As for the matters at this branch office, Peter had almost stopped thinking about it. In Peter’s mind, as long as he didn’t seriously offend Rylan Williams, he wouldn’t be completely ousted. By staying here, he could first get his diploma and certificates in order. With these credentials, he could survive anywhere. Besides, if all else failed, he could just focus on his own business.
Just as Peter was lost in thought, Reid Nelson’s call came through.
As soon as the phone connected, Reid sounded anxious, "Peter, I heard Rylan Williams is coming back to work. How are things on your end?"
"How did you know?"
"Even though I left, I still have some connections. I heard people say he is coming to work next Monday."
"Don’t worry, it’s nothing serious. I’ve got everything under control; there won’t be any problems."
Reid replied, "I have almost finished my tasks here too. If things really don’t work out, you could come here and take charge."
"No worries. I’ve completely handed over the mobile game business to you. Even if I start a business, I have quite a few projects. You don’t need to worry about me."
Reid advised, "You still need to be careful. Rylan Williams is a well-connected man, and the Carter Clan is said to be very powerful."
After a lengthy conversation, just as they hung up, Henry Ford called to talk about the same issue.
Peter said, "Senior leader, after I visited you last time, you asked me to meet with Mr. Williams. I followed your advice and we had a pleasant conversation."
Henry Ford laughed heartily, "Good, good. After all, the Carter Clan isn’t a small power. My intention is that it’s best if you don’t become enemies with him. Maintaining a good relationship would be beneficial for you. As long as he doesn’t completely oppose you, there are many possibilities. Get your diploma and architect certificate, and even if you can’t make it in that branch office, I can still help you adjust. Now that you’ve put it like this, I’m reassured."
"Thanks a lot, Brother Montgomery," Peter was grateful for Henry Ford’s attitude, as Henry was genuinely good in handling his matters.
Thinking about this, Peter contemplated whether he should help Henry Ford somehow.
However, after thinking for a while, he couldn’t figure out how to help, considering their different levels. He really couldn’t reach that high yet and felt helpless in providing any assistance.
Forget it, it’s best to focus on developing myself first.
After finishing the call, Peter sat there and mulled over the possible scenarios he might face tomorrow when everyone’s attitude towards him might change again.
Amused by the potential shifts in people’s demeanor at the office, the reasons Peter chose to stay were to witness these changes.
In fact, Peter was very calm about it all. He was here to learn, and the more complex the better it was for him. Peter was indeed ready to face this challenge.
Peter knew that even based solely on his computer knowledge, he could make several million dollars a year in some specialized companies, or even possibly earn shares, but Peter didn’t want to pursue such opportunities. That lifestyle was not what Peter desired. His current plan was to cultivate himself comprehensively in such low-level companies. This environment was truly rare and would greatly enhance all aspects of himself.
Everything still depended on himself!
Peter picked up the book again and resumed reading. Now, matching the content with video lectures, Peter was learning very quickly.
