Chapter 1555: Chapter 1554 The Change is Happening Secretly_1

"Good morning, Peter," came the greeting from Reid Nelson, smartly dressed in her work attire, which only emphasized her mature charm. Carrying the scent of fragrant wind, she walked in and approached Peter Brown, greeting him with a warmth that signalled increased friendliness.

Peter Brown’s gaze probably lingered on Reid’s chest for a moment, showing a hint of lustfulness.

Reid, however, showed no displeasure. She even intentionally thrust her chest out a bit and, with a smile on her face, she asked, "Had breakfast yet?"

"Already ate. There’s a decent noodle shop at the door."

At that moment, Ivy Cooper breezed in like the wind. She was still wearing a skirt today, but in a different style that gave her a more youthful vibe. The fragrance emanating from her was just as alluring.

The sight that really made Peter’s eyes heat up was her legs. The stockings accentuated their graceful shape, oozing a sense of power however one looked at them.

"Morning, Reid. Peter, have you had breakfast? I’ll treat you."

"Ivy, I’ve already eaten."

"What about you, Reid?"

Reid Nelson smiled and replied, "I ate at home before coming here."

"Well then, I’ll go grab some breakfast."

And with that, she was gone again, swift as the breeze.

Everyone’s in high spirits, huh!

Noticing the water was hot, Peter went over and took Reid Nelson’s glass, saying, "Director, let me make your water."

"No need, no need, I can do it myself," Reid responded as she stood up. Whether intentionally or by accident, her body brushed against Peter’s.

After the two of them sat down, Reid turned to Peter and said, "I heard it’s coming to a head; the result should be out in the next two days. There’s a spare key for that person; it’s taped under the cabinet."

Peter inquired, "What about Ivy?"

"She has to deal with some matters in the county today. I’ll arrange everything."

Everything was indeed all set up.

Peter wasn’t worried that anything would go wrong and nodded as he turned on his computer to look at it.

A hint of a smile played at the corner of Reid’s mouth at that moment.

Suddenly, Peter’s cell phone chimed with a reminder sound. When he looked at it, he saw it was a call from Christian Greenhill.

Glancing at Reid, Peter saw that she was engrossed in something, so he listened through the earphones.

"Ivy, there’s been a change!" Christian’s voice carried an urgency.

Ivy’s voice came through, questioning, "What happened?"

"Hadley found out. Not only did he give that woman a bad beating last night, but he also took the items that we were supposed to receive. Right after Hadley left, the woman phoned in."

"What a mess. We should have secured those items long ago; you had to wait to take all at once."

"She’s asking for a million dollars right off the bat. I was planning to pay once we had all the items in hand."

The two had a brief argument.

"With things having come this far, I’m afraid Mr. Ford might resort to violence."

"What can he possibly do, let’s just keep things steady for now." After a brief discussion, they ended the call.

Peter Brown heard Ivy Cooper again on a call with Mr. Spencer, reporting the situation.

"Without evidence, it’s tough to handle. What are you guys doing? This is about your affair; how could you not take it to heart? The evidence should have been in your hands long ago," Mr. Spencer clearly became angry.

"It’s all because of that kid, Christian Greenhill, acting all confident, and then screwing it up like this!"

"You guys, sigh, are just incompetent!"

"What do we do now?"

"What else can we do? Without concrete proof, we can’t bring him down. Old Tian is backing Henry Ford; we can only wait a bit longer."

"I’m worried about Henry Ford striking back. Although I didn’t show myself in this matter, and it was Christian Greenhill and Vincent Clinton handling it, Henry Ford isn’t blind; recently, I’ve been seen with Christian and his group a bit too often."

"Don’t worry, Henry Ford will have to give me face no matter what. He knows about our relationship; he won’t do anything to you."

When they finished the call, Peter Brown also breathed a sigh of relief. From this conversation, he knew that Henry Ford had temporarily escaped this predicament, and he wondered what measures Henry Ford would take next.

When Ivy Cooper walked to the office, her face was grim and rather unsightly as she went over and sat in the chair, lost in thought.

Reid Nelson clearly noticed Ivy’s mood and asked with a smile, "Ivy, what’s wrong?"

"Nothing, just bumped into someone on the road and had a few words."

"Oh, you have to be careful; there are so many scammers out there nowadays."

After the two women talked for a while, Reid Nelson said, "Ivy, here are some materials that need to be delivered to the county office, can you please take them?"

"Sure, I’ll go and deliver them in a bit."

After a while, Ivy Cooper took a car and went to deliver the materials.

Reid Nelson sat there and became restless, constantly glancing towards the door.

Peter Brown knew in his heart that she was definitely waiting for Vincent Clinton, wondering why he had not yet arrived.

Time ticked by, and as the end of the workday approached, Ivy Cooper returned, but Vincent Clinton had not appeared.

It was evident that Reid Nelson was feeling uneasy, making several trips to the Health Room.

At the end of the workday, Peter Brown learned that Henry Ford had gone to the provincial office, and Christian Greenhill had also left for the province on business; Vincent Clinton had not come to work at all today.

Interesting!

Peter Brown was not in a hurry about this matter anymore.

His uncle called him to come over for dinner at his house.

When he arrived at his uncle’s house, Archie Williams said with a smile to Peter Brown, "Did you know? Something happened last Night."

"What happened?"

"Edward Ford’s mistress was beaten by Edward, nearly to death. If I hadn’t been there with Edward at that time, if I hadn’t held him back, it could have been fatal."

Peter Brown was genuinely surprised that his uncle was also involved in this matter; from this, it was evident that Henry Ford had come to regard his uncle as one of his own.

Archie Williams continued in a low voice, "The person who was going to betray Edward was his woman. Surprising, eh? That woman was the most favored by Edward. He bought her cars and houses, and she even had hold of some of Edward’s belongings. If she really did turn against him, even if Edward didn’t get in trouble, he would have to move positions."

"Uncle, if that’s the case, that woman has everything, she shouldn’t be bought off with money, should she?"

"I was also puzzled by this matter, but then the woman confessed. There’s a guy named Gian Evans in our branch, working in the sales department, who seduced this woman. The two of them slept together a while ago. Christian got his hands on this affair, but he didn’t disclose it. Instead, he stated that as long as the woman got the dirt on Henry Ford and got rid of him, he would promote that young man, promising the two could live a life of luxury together."

Hearing this, Peter Brown became puzzled. He had overheard Christian Greenhill’s phone conversation with Ivy Cooper, which even mentioned giving the woman a million dollars. How could it be that there was no such thing?
