Chapter 1552: Chapter 1551: Saving People_1
When Peter Brown left Uncle Richard’s home, it was already past eight o’clock, and with nothing else to do, he simply went to the bookstore to read for a while until the bookstore closed at ten o’clock, at which point Peter finally left.
As he tuned into his entire being, the sensation of fusion was still very clear. Peter had relaxed a bit. As long as he kept adjusting and harmonizing his body and consciousness, he regarded it as success.
Even though it was County Town, the night was still bustling. Along the way, he noticed that many of the KTV establishments were filled with parked cars.
Looking at these brightly lit places and thinking about his own home’s impoverished state, Peter felt that he should try to earn some money to improve his living conditions.
Sitting down on a bench by the street, watching the ceaseless flow of cars and the women passing by, exuding fragrant breezes, Peter felt out of harmony with the city.
He reached into his pocket and found only a few dozen yuan on him. The thought of having to wait another week for his salary filled him with the impulse to commit robbery with a brick.
He needed to survive, and his family needed help. He hoped that Edward Ford would pull through this tough time, otherwise even eating would become a problem for Peter.
With a deep sigh, Peter shook his head. Such a great master he was, and now he had fallen to relying on such a meager amount of money for sustenance!
However, Peter also understood that robbery was illegal. If he were to do it, he’d have to be covert. If he could make money, then make it; if not, then forget it. The most important thing was to stay out of prison. This mundane life was truly too difficult, something he hadn’t experienced much before.
It’s so hard for ordinary people to earn a bit of money!
Peter couldn’t help but reflect on this thought, a resonance stirring within his soul, and he felt the fusion within him deepen further...
As Peter was pondering the difficulty of making money, he suddenly felt his cell phone vibrate.
Who could be calling now?
He took out his cell phone and was surprised to see Reid Nelson was calling him.
"Reid, what’s the matter?"
"Peter, come quickly to Riverside KTV808."
The call clearly sounded hurried.
Without hesitation, Peter hailed a taxi and rushed towards Riverside KTV.
Right now, Peter couldn’t care less about the taxi fare; he had a premonition that Vincent Clinton might be making a move on Reid Nelson.
Sitting in the taxi, Peter then realized this might upset Vincent Clinton. But, thinking of Reid’s good nature, Peter didn’t worry too much. He thought as long as Henry Ford kept things steady, there shouldn’t be any problems for him.
Peter constantly felt the urge to exercise special methods to eliminate these people, realizing that he still hadn’t fully adapted to the current way of life. In the Immortal Cultivation Realm, only power spoke; here, however, one needed to use their brain.
The taxi soon arrived at the destination. Peter handed the driver ten yuan, flung the door open, and rushed inside.
After inquiring with a server, Peter found room 808.
Peter pushed the door open with one swift movement.
At first glance, to Peter’s surprise, the room contained only Vincent Clinton and Reid Nelson. Looking at Reid, she was already bleary-eyed with intoxication, and Clinton had begun to undress her.
Now, Clinton had cast aside his usual gentle demeanor, having already shed his clothes, his eyes fixed on Peter.
"Mr. Carter, I received a call from Director Nelson’s family, mentioning there was some issue at home. Have you finished your business here?" Peter intentionally made a remark.
After scrutinizing Peter for a moment, Vincent Clinton eventually said, "Is that so? Reid’s drunk, and I was just wondering what to do."
"Oh, she’s drunk, I can only take her home. It seemed like there was an urgent matter at home from the phone call."
"Alright, let’s take her home together." Vincent Clinton returned to his normal expression, but there was a murderous look in his eyes when he looked at Peter Brown.
Peter Brown said to Reid Nelson, "Mr. Carter, your family called and asked you to come home, I’ll help you."
At this time, Reid Nelson’s body was limp, and she was speaking somewhat unclearly, "Okay... go... home..."
As she spoke, Reid Nelson struggled to get up.
Peter Brown went over to help Reid Nelson, pushing Vincent Clinton to the side.
When Peter Brown saw that Reid Nelson’s handbag was on the sofa, he picked it up with one hand and started walking out while supporting Reid Nelson.
"Manager Vincent, I’ll just hail a cab and take Mr. Carter home. You’ve had quite a bit to drink too. You should head back early," Peter Brown said, pretending not to notice Vincent Clinton’s murderous intent.
After hesitating for a moment, Vincent Clinton grunted, "Alright then, let’s do that."
As Peter Brown hailed a cab and helped Reid Nelson into it, Vincent Clinton cast another glance at Peter Brown.
After the cab had driven a distance, Peter Brown heard Reid Nelson say faintly, "Stop the car."
When Peter Brown looked back, he saw that by then Reid Nelson had sat up, completely sober.
Peter Brown started to feel confused about this woman.
After paying the money, Peter Brown got out of the cab with Reid Nelson.
They were in a quiet place. Reid Nelson walked over and sat on a stone platform, staring blankly into the distance as if defeated in battle.
"You weren’t drunk?" Peter Brown could tell that she wasn’t really drunk, just reeking of alcohol.
Looking up at Peter Brown, Reid Nelson said, "You didn’t need to come over, actually."
"Why did you call me then?"
Reid Nelson asked, "I’m pretty, aren’t I?"
Peter Brown looked towards Reid Nelson. Her shirt was torn open, unbuttoned, revealing a deep and tempting cleavage, so he just nodded.
With a bitter smile, Reid Nelson said, "Vincent Clinton has been interested in me for a while. Today, he used the excuse of a dinner party to get me out. In fact, it was just a gathering of some of his subordinates in the company. Then he took me to that place. I was force-fed plenty of alcohol, and his people left under various pretexts. You should know what he wanted to do."
"If you knew his intentions, why did you stay there and not leave?" Peter Brown was somewhat puzzled.
"Actually, I hesitated today. My heart is too weary. Being someone’s mistress might not be such a bad thing after all!"
Peter Brown really didn’t know what to say and just looked at Reid Nelson.
"I’m really tired. My parents are rural people. They struggled to put me through college, and then I started working at this group company. Everything went smoothly, and I married a technician from a branch company. But who would have thought, he died in a car accident less than a month after our marriage. Suddenly, I lost my support and had to get close to the branch manager through ambiguities. That old man could only play with ambiguities; he couldn’t do much physically, and soon he stepped down. Fortunately, before he retired, he helped me become a director. Now Edward Ford is just looking out for me for his sake. Do you know? Edward Ford will also be kicked down soon. What should I do?"
Peter Brown looked at Reid Nelson, thinking this woman had such a story. He guessed she was telling her story because he had unhesitatingly helped her today.
"You’re a college graduate, where can’t you find a job? Why must you stay at this company?" Peter Brown asked.
Shaking her head, Reid Nelson said, "It’s the same everywhere. As a woman, and one who is somewhat attractive, it’s really tough to get by in this society."
