Chapter 152: It’s Really a Trap
Chapter 152: Chapter 152: It’s Really a Trap
Peter Brown moved so fast, dressed similar to the others, and was wearing a diving mask. By the time he finished talking and moved away, the others had not reacted, and Peter had already hopped onto the speedboat.
Peter started the speedboat and headed towards the direction of the Great Reef Island.
Throughout the process, Peter had anticipated their reaction and quickly left.
Driving the speedboat at full speed towards the Great Reef Island, Peter managed to climb onto the island without any of the others even realizing, much less stopping him.
Jason Weir and others on the island were watching Peter’s actions. Seeing him successfully rescue the person, they were stunned, watching as Peter carried the person onto the island, unable to understand how such a situation had arisen.
While everyone was still trying to figure out what had happened, Peter suddenly appeared by their side.
Peter released the pilot, took a deep breath and said, "Thank goodness for the timely rescue, or he would have committed suicide!"
While speaking, Peter quickly stripped off his diving suit and sat down.
Although his actions seemed smooth and effortless, only he knew that his True Qi was fully activated and he was extremely tense.
Now that the person was rescued, Peter’s tension relaxed, and he began feeling a sense of extreme exhaustion.
"Peter, you are really impressive!"
At this moment, Oliver Bridge’s eyes shone with respect. As a Qi Refining Second Layer cultivator, he understood Peter’s entire process. While he might have been able to save the person, he couldn’t have done it as swiftly and subtly. Furthermore, the enemies weren’t lacking in cultivators of the Qi Refining Second Layer. Oliver felt that at least a couple of them were of the same cultivation level as him, which was not ordinary.
Tara Morgan looked at Peter with a sparkle in her eyes and asked, "Peter, are you really a farmer?"
This prompted Priest Wilson to laugh and say, "Peter is indeed from a farming background. So, how’s my recommendation?" Priest Wilson felt vindicated. Everyone had thought he’d invited just anyone, but if not for Peter, they would have been in deep trouble by now.
Jason looked at the pilot and asked, "Are you okay?"
The pilot, named Arthur Bishop, looked at Peter and said, "Thanks!"
His words were few, but the respect in his eyes as he spoke to Peter was unmistakable.
"We’re all on the same side here, no need for thanks. It’s my duty."
Peter had recovered by now and casually waved his hand. He was happy he could save a person. After all, this was all due to his own carelessness.
When he thought about Albert Davis, Peter looked out towards the vast sea, where Davis seemed to be trapped on another, more distant Island Reef.
Seeing where Peter was looking, Austin Campbell laughed, "**** Albert Davis. His clever ideas backfired this time. Look, he’s trapped on that island."
Everyone hated Albert Davis’ betrayal so much that no one wanted to save him.
"Peter, what do we do now?"
A sizable number of enemies were returning, all headed in their direction.
After observing the surroundings, Peter calmly said, "One thing I can confirm for sure is that there are no ruins here. It’s just a trap."
"What’s going on?" Jason asked.
Peter explained, "It’s indeed an array, but a simple Illusion Maze Formation. They’ve put up this array probably with some intention of study. It was only after I reached this island that I knew it was this kind of array. All you need to do is concentrate, and you’ll see through the illusion."
Everyone followed Peter’s instructions, concentrated their vision, and saw through the illusion in a flash.
Of course, Jason and the pilot did not possess such a capability.
But that wasn’t a problem for Peter. He drew a Talisman in front of them, and they too saw through the illusion.
Everyone was shocked to see a drilling platform at the location they were looking at. It seemed to be involved in a drilling operation.
"Is there an oil field underneath?" Jason asked in surprise.
"So, this is what’s happening inside!"
Everyone was completely taken aback. No one had expected this outcome.
Peter continued, "This is our country’s territory. It’s clear that they know they’re not allowed to extract oil here. But they are doing it anyway. The only explanation is that there is an incredibly large amount of oil underneath. They knew they wouldn’t be able to do it for long, so they sent out cultivators. If they could confuse us with the maze array, even better. If that didn’t work, they planned to use overwhelming power to kill us."
"Aren’t they afraid of cultivators from our country coming to kill them?"
"I’ve observed that there are cultivators from different countries among them. Their strength is quite formidable. Unless our country sends out all its strongest cultivators, we won’t be able to chase them away."
Priest Wilson asked, "Is this a joint operation by multiple countries?"
Peter nodded slightly and said, "I’m not sure whether it’s a joint operation of multiple countries or not. One thing is clear about the array they’ve set up: it’s designed to gradually lure our high-level cultivators into the array and then use their overwhelming power to kill us. Look closer at the island: there are even cultivators of the Qi Refining Third and Fourth Layer present. They stay hidden inside, waiting for our high-level cultivators to enter so they can kill us all at once."
"Some of our elite forces must have seen a few of their high-level forces."
"Don’t worry, when I came in, I altered the array’s pattern. It turns out it has trapped them instead, while we’ve been temporarily trapped as well. So, for a while, we won’t be able to leave. Just relax and take some rest while we wait for reinforcements."
Seeing this, everyone looked at Peter with even more awe. With just a few modifications to the array settings, he not only protected everyone but also trapped the enemies. What a genius!
