Chapter 1323: Chapter 1323: This Person Can Still Be Saved_1

After stepping out, Peter Brown realized he lived in a slum, where trash was everywhere, and the houses were all dilapidated. His rented room was a small, plain, and particularly run-down house.

What a miserable life!

He hadn’t expected that his counterpart in the Parallel World would live such a wretched existence, leaving Peter at a loss for words.

As he walked down the street, Peter observed that life here wasn’t much different from Earth, with bustling traffic and the hustle and bustle of city life.

Now that he didn’t have a viable way to survive and was no longer a high and mighty cultivator, he could only progress one step at a time.

Peter headed towards the hospital.

The hospital where Peter worked was a major provincial hospital. As soon as he entered, he was met with a busy scene, crowded with people who seemed to be out shopping. The hospital was like a vegetable market.

When he arrived at a back office, Peter saw that many sanitation and cleaning staff had already arrived.

"Peter, your job today is to clean the morgue," said a middle-aged man who was in charge of management. He wasn’t a bad person, and he immediately assigned tasks to everyone.

The morgue was where bodies were stored. Since everyone frequently cleaned there, they weren’t very afraid of the place, and today it was Peter’s turn.

After agreeing, Peter picked up tools like brooms and headed to the morgue.

Having killed too many in his lifetime, Peter certainly wasn’t afraid of corpses or such things.

Upon entering, Peter didn’t rush to work. Instead, he sat down at the entrance. He had many pieces of information to analyze and needed to gain some understanding of this world.

While he was thinking, cries of mourning reached his ears. Looking up, Peter saw a gurney being pushed over, surrounded by a family in tears.

Another person had died!

From the look of things, Peter realized it must be someone who died after treatment had failed.

This family was dressed meticulously, particularly one who appeared very official.

"Peter, help push it in."

The person pushing the gurney was familiar with Peter, but the guy was naturally not very brave and didn’t dare to enter the morgue alone. Seeing Peter there, he hurriedly asked for his help.

When Peter walked over and looked at the body, he saw it was an elderly person.

However, as soon as Peter’s gaze fell upon him, he tensed up and instinctively said, "He’s not dead yet!"

"What did you just say?" Peter’s words, like a thunderclap, caught the attention of the mourning family members.

"Peter, what are you talking about? Don’t talk nonsense. Doctor Wei performed surgery, but it failed and the patient died. Doctor Wei is not just anybody—if he couldn’t save him, how can you say he’s not dead?"

The gurney pusher frowned; with the family already distressed, talking carelessly could be dangerous.

"What did you say?" A middle-aged woman, as if grasping at a lifeline, grabbed hold of Peter’s hand.

One really shouldn’t speak carelessly indeed!

However, at this moment, an idea struck Peter—this could be his opportunity. If he played his cards right, he could change his role as just another worker and have a direction for his future development.

Thinking this, Peter said, "What I meant is that he hasn’t truly died, but if he’s not treated within the next ten minutes, then he will be truly dead."

"Are you serious?"

An authoritative-looking middle-aged man, who had a resemblance to the deceased, stared at Peter.

"If you’ve all decided he’s dead already, try listening to me if you’re willing."

The others looked at Peter in astonishment.

That middle-aged leader glanced at Peter and asked, "How do we try?"

Peter approached, pulled aside the bedsheet, and said, "Let me first ease his breathing."

While speaking, Peter Brown’s fingers quickly pressed on an acupoint in the chest of the corpse.

Then, they could see Peter’s fingers swiftly pressing on a few different spots.

Everyone was watching Peter work, and at that moment, a doctor came over, speaking sternly, "What’s all this fuss about? Go on, push the deceased to the morgue."

As he spoke, he saw Peter tapping on the corpse, which made him even more displeased, and he said sternly, "What are you doing?"

Just as he finished his sentence, they all saw the presumed dead old man opening his eyes.

Ah!

All the onlookers were stunned, especially the family members, who were staring wide-eyed at the old man.

"Why are you all here?"

The old man was actually speaking.

Incredible!

At this point, Peter spoke, "All right, he has taken a breath for now, but if he doesn’t receive further treatment within half an hour, he is still on a path to death."

At this, everyone turned towards Peter, their astonishment turning to admiration.

The middle-aged man with a strong presence excitedly asked Peter, "There’s still hope for my father?"

"There’s hope within half an hour."

"I beg you, if you cure my father, we will agree to any condition you propose," said a middle-aged woman, her face a mix of surprise and concern as she looked at Peter.

"I’m just a janitor," said Peter Brown with a shrug.

"Please, I’m begging you."

"He’s just a cleaning staff member, go find Doctor Wei instead."

The doctor had now recovered his composure and addressed the pleading family members.

The middle-aged man, however, looked towards Peter and said, "Others may not believe, but I believe only in you, just say what you need, I’ll satisfy any of your demands."

Peter originally intended to save the old man to gain some reputation, so he replied, "I don’t have a license, it would be unauthorized practice of medicine."

A young man said, "Don’t worry, none of that is an issue."

At that moment, an old man in a White Coat rushed over, accompanied by several other doctors in white coats.

The middle-aged man looked at Peter and asked, "Tell me, what is needed to save my father."

Seeing the situation, Peter replied, "A set of silver needles, and then some medicine needs to be prepared."

"Alright, that’s not a problem at all."

By then, the old man had already arrived and said to the middle-aged man, "Mr. Watson, I’m sorry for your loss!"

"Quick, follow this young comrade’s orders," Mr. Watson loudly instructed one of his subordinates.

The old man then saw the other old man with his eyes open but weak, and was puzzled as he turned to look at a middle-aged doctor behind him.

That middle-aged doctor appeared bewildered as well, exclaiming in disbelief, "How is this possible?"

At this point, Peter said, "There’s no time left."

Hearing this, the middle-aged man could no longer care about other things, shouting loudly, "James Lee, follow this young comrade’s commands, give him whatever he needs."
