Chapter 1213: Chapter 113 Divine Stone_1
Upon returning to Hudson Manor, Peter Brown finally had the time to inquire about the matters of the five Dark Mist Sect personnel.
Watching a row of somewhat uneasy beauties standing before him, Peter still had some impression of them; they were all elite disciples within the Sect, who had once held high status. Unfortunately, after the Sect’s destruction, they had been bound by a ban and now bore the status of female slaves, with their lives and deaths at the mercy of their master.
"Report your names," he said.
"This servant is Maria Nelson."
The beauty who had accompanied Peter introduced herself.
The other four also reported their names, respectively, Ada Jones, Sherry Jackson, Holly Cooper, Macy Brown.
As they gave their names, Peter reminisced about their past. Indeed, they were part of the famed Nine Enchantresses of Darkness of the Dark Mist Sect. Curious about their plight of becoming female slaves, he asked, "With the Sect destroyed, did no one come for your hands in marriage?"
Blushing, Macy Brown replied, "We only welcomed guests today."
So that was it!
Peter understood, surmising that after their capture they must have undergone some training. Those who did not submit to authority would certainly have suffered, and these five girls must have surrendered, thus ending their training.
"How many were in training with you?" he asked.
"Many," they replied.
"I recall a girl named Aurora Taylor, have you seen her?" he inquired.
"Aurora, she disappeared when the Sect was ruined; nobody knows where she ran off to," Holly Cooper, who recognized Aurora, spoke up.
With a slight nod, Peter said, "You know your own situation. If you had continued there, you would have been no more than prostitutes. If you are with me, you won’t have to do those things, at least."
"Thank you, young master. We are willing to serve you," they said.
The five women had long since understood the situation and, upon hearing Peter’s words, all knelt down.
"All right, go rest for a while," he said.
He had a maid take them down to rest and sighed, never having imagined the swift downfall of a Sect.
Reflecting on the battle where the Ghost Expelling Sect even had Elder Martin, who was always in closed-door cultivation, join the fight, Peter mused on the Ghost Expelling Sect’s profound backing and wondered about the hidden experts within it.
Soon, Peter put these thoughts aside. Right now, there was one more hurdle for him to face, and that was the matter of the Divine Consciousness Battlefield. He needed to seriously prepare for this battlefield.
From the information he had gathered, it was clear that once inside the Divine Consciousness Battlefield, the most crucial thing was the strength of one’s Divine Sense. If one’s Divine Sense wasn’t strong enough, there was a real risk of being trapped in the battlefield or even perishing forever.
The Divine Consciousness Battlefield was no ordinary place. What Peter needed to do now was to arm himself, lest he loses his life because of the battlefield.
But how could he withstand the attacks within that battlefield?
Peter’s gaze suddenly fell upon the Ruyi Furnace. He had confidence in the furnace; perhaps using it to protect himself could resist the attacks from Divine Sense Energy.
As he mused, Harry White walked in. Glancing at Peter sitting cross-legged, he said, "Are you worried about the Divine Consciousness Battlefield?"
Peter nodded in acknowledgment.
Harry continued, "I just went to intercede on your behalf again, but it turns out that Elder Cook has bought off quite a few people at the Elder level. I can’t help you much, after all, you are also a member of the Ghost Expelling Sect."
"It’s fine; my Divine Sense is quite strong. I should be able to manage," Peter replied.
Harry praised him, "It’s good that you have this mindset. Usually, those who enter the Divine Consciousness Battlefield and come out with benefits are those with strong confidence."
Turning to Peter, he said, "Let me give you a rough idea of the situation inside the battlefield. Don’t be deceived by the fact it is just a stone the height of a person. This stone, called the Divine Stone, houses many levels within it. The largest amongst these levels are not too different from our own world. Remember, I don’t expect you to achieve renown for yourself; the important thing is just to come back alive."
"Have many not come out?" Peter asked.
"When the Divine Stone was first obtained, there was a great battle, and many Sects were drawn into it. Numerous people also sought enlightenment within it, and as a result, their Divine Senses became trapped while their bodies did not emerge. Inside the Divine Stone, there are many Divine Sense Bodies," Harry explained.
Looking at Peter, he continued, "Understand? Besides the configurations set by the Divine Stone itself, there are also those Divine Sense Bodies trapped inside. What makes it challenging is that these Divine Sense Bodies do not dissipate—instead, they can grow stronger within and even have the ability to assimilate some of the Divine Sense energies from those who enter, further augmenting themselves. So, inside, there’s actually an array of powerful existences."
Hearing this, Peter began to feel a headache coming on. If that was truly the case, one could only imagine how many formidable Divine Sense Bodies were trapped inside the Divine Stone, where a single misstep could spell doom.
"The Sects hope that their disciples can gain something inside, but isn’t it a bit too difficult?" Peter observed.
"Not necessarily. Those who come out safely will have a Divine Sense at least twice as strong as before. Additionally, those who opportunistically absorb weaker Divine Senses can grow even more. Inside, it is even possible to gain benefits by absorbing another person’s Divine Sense or even the consciousness of a Strong Person," Harry elaborated.
"There must be a time limit, right?" Peter queried.
"Indeed. Typically, once a person’s Divine Sense enters, their physical body enters a state of decay. Immortals can only survive for a month without emergence before their bodies perish and they cannot exit. Those at the Celestial Tier can last for Three Months. So, if you do not come out within that time frame, your Divine Sense might be trapped forever," Harry said.
He added, "When some Strong Persons from the various Sects reach the verge of Life Extension, believing they can no longer grow, they will voluntarily enter the Divine Stone. Do not underestimate the Divine Consciousness Battlefield; there is an innumerable number of powerful beings inside, a veritable forest of experts. Once you enter, the best thing to do is to find a place to hide."
"Can’t one just come out as soon as they enter?" Peter inquired.
Shaking his head, Harry replied, "The Divine Stone possesses a special power. Once your Divine Sense enters, you will be Teleported to a random location. Inside, you must find certain nodes to exit, otherwise, there’s no possibility of leaving. Even locating a node is extremely difficult; it requires a great deal of time for some."
