In fact, after the last Teleport, he analyzed the path that was formed, dividing it according to the geographic directions on Earth, where the East represented the earliest part of time and the West, the latest. If he headed East, surely he would enter the next time segment, right?

After closely examining the ruptured path, Peter Brown did indeed discover some directional differences.

As he examined his Divine Sense, he found that the Divine Sense Energy was also excessively depleted.

Without time to think further, Peter Brown swiftly consumed two bottles of Elixirs and then plunged into Cultivation.

This incident had alarmed Peter Brown. Had he not quickly decided to return, he might really have become trapped in that beam of light, or even worse, suffered a soul-shattering death.
