Chapter 87: Rich People Are Just Weird

The next morning, Gray took a half-day from work.

It was Friday, and aside from a few follow-ups on yesterday’s deal, there wasn’t much left to do on his schedule. Most of the important work that he had was already wrapped up.

Aside from that, he needed a little time to breathe.

Besides, today was friday. He was sure that people were either winding down or trying to finish everything fast so they could clock out early. He figured no one would miss him for a few hours.

Still, he sent Marcus a message before he left just to inform him.

[Gray]: Hey. I’m taking half-day. There’s nothing urgent pending in my office, but call me if something comes up.

Marcus responded not even two minutes later.

[Marcus]: Understood, Sir. Enjoy your time.

And just like that, Gray was free.

Honestly? This was the kind of thing he hadn’t realized he liked until recently.

Now that he was a boss and not a worker, he just realized that his time revolved around him now.

He didn’t need to explain himself to some uptight manager. He didn’t have to be nervous about being late or leaving early. He can work as he pleases as long as he does what needs to be done.

It was a nice feeling.

A weird one, sure. But it was nice.

Very very nice.

And today, his plan was simple.

Take care of the condo paperwork and do what the system told him to do yesterday.

Gray also realizes that most offices would be closed over the weekend. If he didn’t settle this today, he’d have to wait until Monday.

And he doesn’t have that much patience to wait.

"I couldn’t wait to see it," Gray muttered under his breath as a sheepish smile appeared on his lips.

He was dying to see the condo in person.

After getting the reply, Gray quickly got ready. He called for Daniel, and the two of them drove to the location.

Gray was wearing a clean button-down shirt and black slacks. His coat was pressed, and his shoes were polished. The property documents were also tucked neatly into a folder under his arm as he stepped out.

"Do you want to go with me inside, Daniel?" Gray turned his head to the man.

"It’s fine, Sir. I’ll just wait here," Daniel shook his head from the driver’s seat.

"Oh, alright," Gray abruptly nodded his head. "I’ll try my best to be fast then."

"It’s fine, Sir. No problem," Daniel smiled kindly to him.

Gray smiled back but didn’t say anything further. He closed the door and let out a sigh.

"What a nice weather," He muttered as a small smile played on his lips.

The sky was pale and cloudless as if telling Gray that it would be a good day today.

After a second, Gray walked into the building that matched the address the system had given him.

The real estate company was in a moderate-sized building. It wasn’t huge, but it was also not that small.

The glass door slid open automatically as he reached the entrance. Inside, a young woman at the front desk looked up from her monitor. She blinked, then quickly stood.

"Ah! Hello, Sir!" The woman greeted politely. She quickly scanned Gray’s outfit with her eyes. When she noticed that Gray was in formal clothes, she straightened her posture instantly.

"How may I help you, Sir?"

Gray gave the woman a polite smile as he stepped up to the front desk. He opened the folder tucked under his arm and gently placed it on the counter.

"Hi," he said. "I bought a unit under your firm yesterday. I’m here to finish the registration... and, uh, I wanted to check the place out in person, if that’s possible."

The receptionist blinked once, then looked at him like she misheard.

"You... bought a unit?" she repeated slowly. "Yesterday?"

"Yeah," Gray nodded.

She looked at the documents he had placed on the counter, eyes scanning the name and property ID on the front page. Her expression shifted quickly.

She blinked again—this time in quick realization.

"Ah! Sir Gray," she said quickly. "Of course. Please give me just one moment."

The woman looked anxious as she reached for the phone beside her.

’Oh no! I didn’t know that the person in front of me is a high profile client.’ The woman thought as she pressed her lips together.

"Just give me a minute, Sir." The woman turned to Gray. An apologetic smile was placed on her lips.

"Sure, take your time." Gray nodded. He quickly noticed how the woman panicked in front of him. She looked quite scared when the person she was calling took time to answer.

A few seconds passed and the girl’s face brightened.

"Thank god..." the woman breathed out in relief. "Miss Hana, he’s here... Yes, that’s him—yes, the one from yesterday. Rosewood Residences... Mhm. I’ll send him up now."

She put the phone down and straightened her jacket. There was a different tone in her voice now. It was more polished and careful than earlier.

"Sorry to keep you waiting, Sir. One of our senior agents, Miss Hana, will meet you upstairs and assist you directly," she said. "If you’d like, I’ll escort you to the elevator now."

"That’s fine. Thank you," Gray replied, slightly amused.

As they walked, she hesitated for a second then turned her head toward him with a polite smile.

"If I may ask, Sir," she began carefully, "did you really bought the condo without looking at it?"

Gray paused and glanced at her, an eyebrow slightly raised.

’Yup."

It was not him who bought it.

"I see..." the woman blinked again, clearly trying to hide her shock. "You know, that’s quite rare, Sir. In fact, it might be a first for us. The property was fully paid and processed in less than half a day. Most of our clients take days or even weeks to make a decision. That’s why we were all surprised yesterday when we received a sudden call."

Gray let out a small chuckle, brushing it off like it was nothing.

"Yeah... it was kind of a sudden buy."

"Ah," she nodded slowly.

’Rich people are just weird, aren’t they?
