Chapter 62: Forbidden Street Skills
Hearing the disciple’s words, Han Yu merely took them as air.
"Bone age?" Han Yu narrowed his eyes. "Did you test his real bones or the bones of the other five grown men he ate for breakfast?"
Laughter erupted from the onlookers, some disciples barely containing their snickers. Even the elder’s lips twitched before he composed himself.
"You sure you’re fifteen?" Han Yu asked again, arms crossed. "Like, actually sure? You didn’t just wake up one day looking like you lost a fight with a vat of muscle-enhancing elixirs?"
"I’m just naturally strong," Gao Ren grinned, flexing again.
In fact, it had been Gao Ren’s appearance that had caught the disciple’s eye. He had seen the boy carrying a cartload of goods and had thought that he was some laborer. Only when he saw the same ’man’ come to him for recruitment did he learn that he was just a fifteen-year-old boy.
Of course, the disciple didn’t believe it at the time either. There had not been a lack of people stating their age to be lower than real to get recruited. But usually, it was not so exaggerated.
Most just stated their age to be one or two years younger than they really were.
But when the disciple confirmed the boy’s age from others, he learned that it really was the truth. The boy was just blessed with a great physique, which basically confirmed the disciple’s choice.
He knew that if the boy could be this buff at his age, he’d certainly have great talent. And of course, when they registered him and tested his age, it was a cemented fact.
But all that was unknown to Han Yu. Even if he knew, he would think of it as a fairy tale. For now, he couldn’t do anything about it anyway.
Han Yu sighed dramatically, shaking his head. "You know what? Fine. Let’s just get this over with before you grow another foot taller mid-fight."
The elder clapped his hands. "Enough talk! Let the match begin!"
Han Yu took a deep breath and entered his fighting stance, still muttering under his breath, "Fifteen, my ass..."
Just as he passed by Xu Qing, though, she whispered something.
"You’ll have to be extra careful. The ’boy’ is at the Tenth Stage of the Body Refinement realm," Xu Qing warned.
Even she was wary of Gao Ren, and not just because of his physique. Reaching the Tenth Stage of Body Tempering at the age of fifteen was the highest standard that the sect held.
Even if Gao Ren had somehow lost all matches, he would’ve still been selected regardless.
Everyone could tell he had talent. It was just the extent of that talent that was yet to be tested. But that would come after the fights were over.
"At the Tenth Stage? Fuck me..." Han Yu wondered if he was going to lose this match.
He also wondered how he had missed Gao Ren this entire time.
’With how big he is, he should’ve stood out like a crane among chickens.’ Han Yu wondered just how good the man’s luck or hiding skills were.
Entering the ring, Han Yu formed a few ’strategies’ in his mind on how to deal with the man.
’I’ll definitely have to use all my power.’ Han Yu thought to himself.
But he didn’t know if even a full-powered Bolt God Fist would be enough to take out the ’boy.’
’Perhaps it’s time to use some tricks that I prepared beforehand.’ Han Yu reckoned, some nefarious schemes forming in his mind.
"Come on in! I can’t wait to break you like I split logs!" Gao Ren said boisterously.
"We’ll see about that." Han Yu said as he looked at the boy/man.
"Begin!" The elder himself announced it this time.
"HAAH!" And just as expected, Gao Ren was the first one to make his move.
But instead of punching or kicking, the boy chose to get a grip on Han Yu.
"Going for grappling, huh? For a smaller, faster opponent, that might be the best way," Elder Nie Jing observed, nodding slightly.
"SHIT!" Han Yu barely ducked in order to avoid getting caught, then leaned to the left to dodge a stomp.
"A very slippery loach," Gao Ren said, bringing his fists together for a powerful hammer strike.
"Fuck! The last one was a monkey, and this one is a gorilla!" Han Yu rolled on the ground, letting go of his dignity.
The children watching couldn’t help but laugh, seeing how silly Han Yu looked.
"HAAH! HAAH! HAAH!" Gao Ren kept making large moves, each of which could probably break or crack a bone, but Han Yu was doing his best to avoid them.
He used all the ’dishonorable’ moves he could. The donkey roll, the worm crawl, the loach slip, and many more.
The elder watching the fight couldn’t help but frown.
"Can’t even face it bravely," the elder muttered, having lowered his opinion of Han Yu from his past words as well.
But Han Yu didn’t care about that. All he wanted to do was survive.
And in his struggle for survival, he decided to use one of his tricks finally. Just when Gao Ren swung his arms in a wide arc, Han Yu jumped back before putting his hand in his pocket.
"Forbidden Street Skill Number Eight: Pocket Sand!" Han Yu threw a handful of sand into Gao Ren’s eyes.
"ARGH!" Gao Ren closed his eyes and covered his face, feeling the grittiness in his eyes. "Fuck you! Using sand!" His eyes watered as he struggled to regain clear vision.
"Everything is fair in war and love!" Han Yu declared as he maneuvered behind Gao Ren before lowering his stance. "And this too!" He pulled his fist back.
"Forbidden Street Skill Number One: Ball Buster!" Han Yu amplified his fist with vital energy and punched straight up into Gao Ren’s groin.
With that one punch, he made every man within a three-kilometer radius feel a deep, existential pain.
