Chapter 60: Fighting Stronger Foes

Han Yu looked at the boy, finding him quite weird.

"Hey, what’s your name?" Han Yu asked.

"I’m Mao Denden." The boy replied.

"Huh... Okay." Han Yu said, not thinking much of it.

"What?" the boy asked, feeling confused.

"Just that your parents at least named you better than the last one." Han Yu answered.

But to the boy it seemed like Han Yu was mocking him.

"You, I’ll teach you a lesson!" Mao Denden said as he rushed at him.

Han Yu dodged the attack, but his opponents was as easy as the past ones. The boy actually managed to change the trajectory of the attack, curving around and hitting Han Yu’s shoulder.

"Oh?" of course the attack wasn’t as strong, losing most of its power in the change of direction but Han Yu was still surprised he managed to get hit. "I guess I can go all out too." He said as he punched out.

Mao Denden didn’t avoid it though and instead chose to catch Han Yu’s fist.

THUD

Han Yu’s fist was caught by Denden’s palm and he clamped down hard.

"Even your grip is like a monkey’s." Han Yu said.

"Did you just call me a monkey?!" Mao Denden was infuriated.

"You admitted to it." Han Yu replied while sweeping his foot.

Mao Denden though hopped, letting the foot pass under him in exchange for letting go of the fist.

"See, you even jump like a monkey." Han Yu mocked.

"You! I’ll show you!" Mao Denden only got more angry and sped up.

SHUA SHUA SHUA

He launched a flurry of punches that were strangely accurate. Han Yu barely dodged some of them and some actually ended up hitting him.

"Ugh, this is getting annoying." Han Yu didn’t expect for this boy to actually have some skills.

The more Han Yu dodged the more he found himself getting trapped between Mao Denden’s moves.

"This is a Martial Skill isn’t it?" Han Yu understood by this point.

"Only realizing it now?" Mao Denden smirked. "This is the Curving Arrow Fist!" he stated.

"I see... Well you aren’t the only one that knows martial skills." Han Yu said as he forcefully endured two of Mao Denden’s attacks.

At the same time, he cocked his fist back and circulated his Vital Energy. It rushed into his shoulder and collected in two points. The energy from his shoulder rushed down and collide with the energy in his elbow causing it to rush out. At the end, Han Yu punched out before finally twisting his arm at the end.

WHAM

A loud sound was heard that startled the disciples who were watching. Even the children who were observing the fight while eating some food were stunned. Those who were drinking water choked, coughing nonstop.

"That! That was a Martial Skill!" they exclaimed.

Of course the one that was hit by it understood it the best.

"WAAAAAAAA!" Mao Denden felt like he had just been hit by a sledgehammer on his chest, making him directly fly out of the ring.

THUD

He landed on the ground with a harsh grunt, his entire body feeling sore.

HUUU

Han Yu took a breath as he orientated himself.

’So even fifty percent power is enough.’ Han Yu had deliberately held back for the fear that he might end up killing the boy.

He didn’t want to be disqualified just because of that after all.

The most shocked though was none other than Xu Qing.

’He actually knows a Marital Skill?’ Xu Qing had not expected that.

Han Yu had shown no sign of knowing one and hadn’t told her about it either. Which was rather shocking considering how much he had loved to brag.

But that was not all as Xu Qing could tell the skill wasn’t simple.

’The power of the skill was quite high... its definitely not an average skill.’ She thought to herself. ’Just where did he learn the skill from?’ she had no idea.

A skill of that would be valued even in their sect, and for a street urchin like Han Yu to obtain it seemed even unbelievable. Then there was the fact that even if he obtained it somehow, actually learning it was another hurdle. It would certainly need talent to learn.

’Looks like Master’s bracelet was better than I thought.’ Xu Qing though, a rare smile appearing on her face.

She reckoned that this was exactly the talent that the bracelet had detected. Of course she had no idea that she had been mistaken from the start. If she had thought of just checking the bracelet again, she would have figured it out easily. But in her hurry to take Han Yu back she had never gotten to doing it.

She had even stored it away, not wanting it to get misplaced due to some misfortune.

It was far too valuable after all.

Plus it wasn’t something she or her master actually owned. It had been borrowed from the sect temporarily.

If she lost it or broke it somehow, the cost would not be easy to pay.

But a few seconds later, she found Han Yu staring at her.

"Is anyone going to announce the results?" Han Yu asked out loud.

Xu Qing then realized that everyone was just staring in silence, feeling to shocked to say anything.

"Ahem." She coughed making the disciple who was overseeing the fight snap out of his stupor.

"H-Han Yu is the winner!" the disciple announced.

"WHOA!" as soon as the declaration was made, the children watching all exclaimed.

"Just how strong is he?"

"He must be at the Tenth Stage of the Body Tempering Realm right?"

"And where did he learn a martial skill?"

"Probably from a master."

"Didn’t you hear, he was brought in as a ’special’ recruit by an Inner Court disciple. This was probably why."

There were plenty of gossips from the children as well as other disciples alike. Even the Elder was now looking at Han Yu.

"Interesting... not only does the boy have good battle instincts he even knows a good martial skill." Elder Nie Jing muttered to himself. "Looks like we’ll have some good seeds this time." He was pleased.

He also looked at Murong Xie as well as the other children who had managed to come out on top by now. Even among those that had lost, the elder found several unpolished gems.

While they might have lost right now, it didn’t mean that they were a waste or were bad. They merely needed more guidance and training to let their hidden talent shine. And even if some of them might not have the necessary talent, there was still the factor of hard work.

The elder could see with his experienced eyes, the spark of competition within the eyes of several children. Even if they had lost now, it did not mean they had given up. They merely needed the chance to grow.

Han Yu walked out of the ring and looked at Xu Qing with a smile.

"I was cool, wasn’t I?" Han Yu smirked.

"Don’t get too full of yourself." Xu Qing said with a still expression. Though internally she was still pleased.

"Haha, I know you liked it." Han Yu was not buying her words though. "My skill is too good!"

"And what is this ’too good’ skill of yours?" Xu Qing asked feeling curious about it too.

"It’s called as the Bolt God Fist!" Han Yu revealed.

"Very high and mighty sounding... just like you." Xu Qing didn’t take the name as seriously though.

Having been a cultivator for long, she knew many skills were named extravagantly even if they didn’t have the actual power to back it up. And while Bolt God Fist seemed strong, it didn’t mean its power was absolute.

"If you think I’m high and mighty you should’ve seen the person who taught me." Han Yu replied. "He bragged even more and even called himself an Immortal Emperor." He chuckled.

"And what was he?" Xu Qing of course didn’t take Han Yu’s words to heart.

"Just some beggar I found." Han Yu replied. "I got him some food and wine and he taught me the skill in exchange." He stated.

But hearing this Xu Qing furrowed her brows.

"A beggar taught you this?" she asked again.

"Yeah. He was wearing tattered robes and was washed at the side of a river when I found him. At first I thought he was just a corpse, but he was actually alive." Han Yu said openly, not bothering to hide.

"Hmm..." Xu Qing found it very strange. ’A beggar that knows a skill like this? Thats most certainly not someone as simple as he’s showing it to be.’

Thinking a bit about it, Xu Qing decided to ask a bit more.

"Did this beggar use this skill too?" She asked.

"Yeah, he showed me the skill first." Han Yu replied. "And boy was I shocked. He broke a tree in half from nearly three meters away! He didn’t even touch it!" he revealed.
