STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer
Chapter 304 - 304: Part 6: Wilderness training

Wilderness:

As Jeremy continued to watch the black hawk, he saw large snakes come to the spot one after another shortly after. The sizes of the snakes covered almost half the height of the tree.

In the blink of an eye, more than 10 beasts had arrived. They were frantically trying to attack the circling hawk above the tree.

It was a repeat of the same scene.

Seeing that, Jeremy felt a thunderclap strike his head because he realized the sizes of the beasts were larger than normal snake beasts.

One or two among them were close to the height of the tree. A cold shiver ran down his spine as the realization dawned on him.

The smaller ones, which were already quite large, could be Tier-4 Corrupted Beasts. The ones the size of trees were Tier-5 beasts.

Jeremy's expression turned grave for the first time, which was quickly noticed by Ariel Burt. She had been keeping an eye on Jeremy Night from time to time.

She had seen him calm and composed just a few seconds ago, but now Jeremy's expression had changed drastically.

She stood up and walked up to him.

She asked, "Jeremy, what happened?"

Hearing that, Jacob and the others turned towards Jeremy Night. They saw the kid's expression was not right, as if he was afraid of something.

Jacob immediately thought of the previous attack. He noticed that Jeremy was looking in the same direction as earlier.

He then turned towards the eastern side to see whether any beasts were coming.

"What's wrong?" Derek asked.

Jacob shook his head before saying, "I don't know, but Jeremy knows something."

On the other hand, Jeremy ignored everyone and continued monitoring. He saw that the black hawk flew away after circling for a minute.

"Sh!t," he cursed.

Ariel Burt's eyes flashed with anger. She felt the kid was ignoring her.

Swoosh!

Elder Derek, Jacob, and the other department instructors appeared before him.

"Kid, what's going on?"

"Why are you reacting this way?" Derek asked in a serious tone.

The Attack and Defence Department instructors looked at Jeremy Night, still carrying disdain on their faces.

Meanwhile, the instructors from the Elemental Department and Control Department appeared serious. Although Jeremy Night might be a first-year student, they respected his strength.

The rest of them were clueless and confused.

Jeremy collected his thoughts and calmed his turbulent heart.

He pointed his finger toward the eastern direction.

He said, "I felt something big moving in that direction, as large as a giant tree. Earlier, the wild green-eyed cats came in from that direction."

Hearing that, the faces of everyone changed drastically, including the protectors who were watching silently.

"As big as a giant tree," Derek uttered in surprise.

Because he didn't find anything.

He turned towards the protectors and asked, "What about you guys?"

"I didn't see anything suspicious," one of the protectors, an old man, said.

The other protectors shook their heads.

"Elder Derek, I told you before. This kid was scared for nothing," the Attack Department instructor said.

"Elder, ask him to sleep. Otherwise, he will wake up the other students," the Defence Department instructor uttered.

Hearing that, the faces of the other department instructors moved. They thought the kid was unnecessarily stirring up trouble.

But only Instructor Jacob was serious. He had seen earlier how Jeremy's judgment was right.

On the other hand, Jeremy ignored their slander and continued to watch the area, hoping that the next worst thing wouldn't happen.

Then he saw how oversized snakes were frantically attacking the ground, as if something important were buried there. Their actions resembled those of Wild Green-Eyed Cats.

Elder Derek frowned. He knew the kid was not known for making trouble. Besides, his night watch efforts seemed genuine.

He also acknowledged that Jeremy Night had more experience in the wilderness than other first-year students.

So he didn't want to dismiss his claims.

"Okay, I'll go check out the area," Derek said.

Hearing that, Jeremy breathed a sigh of relief. He was grateful that Elder Derek took a leap of faith in his words.

"We're coming as well!"

A few protectors joined Elder Derek. They too had seen how this kid had been genuinely keeping an eye on the surroundings earlier.

Swoosh!

Five of them departed immediately. Their sudden departure caused the expressions of the Attack and Defence Department instructors to change.

Both felt their status was undermined by Elder Derek and the protectors.

They left, and the other department instructors retreated, leaving behind Jacob Henry, Ariel Burt, and Jeremy Night.

Seeing that the others were gone, Jacob turned towards Jeremy and asked, "Jeremy, are you sure?"

Ariel Burt raised her eyebrows as well.

"I'm sure. I just saw something. If I'm right, it's a Tier-5 Corrupted Beast. Not one, but more than one," Jeremy said to them.

His voice was not loud, but the others who were leaving heard it.

"Ha...Ha...Ha...!"

"This kid is dreaming while awake," the Attack Department instructor laughed.

"Ha...Ha...Ha...," the Defence Department instructor also laughed.

Swoosh!

The next moment, the middle-aged woman from the Elemental Department went to the tents of her students.

She called out to May Lindsey, who was asleep. The next second, May Lindsey woke up from her sleep.

Seeing her actions, the other department instructors were surprised. They couldn't believe she was trusting the words of the kid.

But the next second, they saw the Control Department instructor wake up Victor Scott from his sleep.

"Get ready!" he urged.

Victor Scott's expression turned serious. He then began to wake up the others.

May Lindsey did the same.

Seeing their behavior, the other department instructors followed suit, except for the Attack and Defence Department instructors.

On the other hand, Jeremy called out to Daniel Stone and Betsy Lowe. They were alarmed.

Jeremy knew they wouldn't be able to survive if they faced the incoming beasts.

"You guys, don't leave the place. Just stay behind me," Jeremy said to them.

Betsy and Daniel Stone sensed something was up. They nodded in response.
