STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer -
Chapter 302 - 302: Part 4: Wilderness training
Wilderness:
Boom! Boom!
In a flash, the department instructors and their lifeline beasts confronted the corrupted beasts. The wild green-eyed cats didn't mind that they were under attack; they continued rushing forward.
As time passed, the department instructors, who were Tier-4 Beast Tamers, and their lifeline beasts cut down the wild green-eyed cats.
Yet the number of beasts was high, so one or two of them slipped away, bolting toward the group of students.
Seeing this, the department students were alarmed. They didn't expect the few beasts to pass the instructors.
They were running in their direction.
"Brother Jeremy, they are coming toward us," Daniel Stone said in a panicked tone.
Betsy Lowe retreated behind Jeremy Night. Only Jeremy Night could fight against the Tier-3 corrupted beasts.
At this time, the protectors acted as well. They attacked the beasts that had slipped past the instructors. The protectors were stronger than the department instructors.
They easily took down the remaining wild green-eyed cats.
About 10 minutes later,
The whole group of wild green-eyed cats was completely wiped out by the department instructors and the protectors.
Swoosh!
At this time, Elder Derek returned after killing the Tier-5 corrupted beasts. Seeing the mutilated corpses all over the ground, he understood that another group of corrupted beasts had come.
He then immediately learned what had happened from others.
"It's good that it's a Tier-3 corrupted beast," he said with relief.
Then he looked around and found that there were no casualties or injuries. He sighed in relief. Then he had to make a major decision about whether to continue with the journey or not.
They were already standing in the middle of the inner part of the wilderness, which was already a dangerous area. He had already spotted the Tier-5 beast.
The university group had encountered the Tier-3 corrupted beasts. He thought it was too dangerous to travel further. Most of the department students had gotten their first kill.
So he made a final decision. After spending the night here, he decided to leave. Derek then shared his thoughts with others.
The other protectors agreed. It was already great that they hadn't come across more than one Tier-5 corrupted beast. Otherwise, their hands would have been occupied, and there would have been no one to protect the university students.
The department instructors heard the decision as well. They heaved a sigh of relief. They were worried they would be going to the core area.
Once they reached the core area, it would become even more difficult for them to save the students. Then Elder Derek and the protectors decided to spend the night here before starting to return in the morning.
The students were informed about this, and they celebrated. Everyone was tense upon seeing the number of Tier-3 corrupted beasts during that time.
They were quite worried. But after hearing this decision, they sighed in relief.
"It's going to be over," Daniel said with a smile.
"But you haven't fought a single beast yet," Jeremy said.
Daniel's smile disappeared. He said, "Brother, I don't think there will be more Tier-2 beasts in the Tier-3 beasts' territory."
"Don't relax your guard. Anything can happen in the wilderness," Jeremy warned him.
Betsy let out a deep sigh before finding a small boulder to sit on.
Instructor Jacob heard their conversations. He was at ease because of Jeremy Night. Otherwise, he would have been more scared, like the others.
Meanwhile,
The killer mercenaries regrouped again. They sent out the black hawk lifeline beast to find out the situation. The black hawk soon returned with the news.
But the news was not good. The black hawk communicated with the beast tamer, reporting on the situation. The university team was doing fine; they had settled down there.
The mercenaries weren't that shocked. It was well within their calculations. They knew that the elders and instructors would protect the students.
The only things that could overwhelm them were a group of Tier-4 and Tier-5 corrupted beasts. It could become a disaster.
Fortunately for the mercenaries, the university team was staying in the middle of the inner part of the wilderness. They could still use the banned drugs to repeat the process.
But this time, they were not going to use it on a Tier-3 corrupted beast. They would look for Tier-4 and Tier-5 corrupted beasts to do it.
Time passed,
After dusk, night fell. The place became quiet. The students were using gadgets to illuminate their surroundings.
There was a reason why Derek had decided to stay here. If they were on the move, there was a possibility of higher-tier beasts finding them.
Jeremy had set up his own tent to stay in. Daniel and Betsy knew that Jeremy had the necessary items, so both of them stayed in Jeremy's tent.
But Jeremy exited the tent to check the surroundings from time to time. From the beginning to the end, everyone kept an eye on Jeremy Night to see what he was doing, including other department students.
Seeing him constantly checking the surroundings, some showed disdain. They thought Jeremy Night was showing off. There were instructors and protectors here; there was no need for a first-year student to act like this.
May Lindsey felt off as well. She knew the limitations of a Tier-1 beast tamer and thought the instructors and elders would know if something was wrong.
Victor Scott shook his head. He too thought Jeremy Night was doing unnecessary things.
Only Instructor Jacob knew that Jeremy could actually spot the beasts. He had already shown his talent earlier. He believed Jeremy had developed his senses because of continuous wilderness trips.
The only truly experienced first-year student was none other than Jeremy Night.
On the other hand, Jeremy could hear their conversations, but he ignored them. He knew the actual dangers of the wilderness; they could come across a higher-tier beast at any time.
What if the instructors were late to react? It could cause casualties. That's why he was monitoring the surroundings.
