Chapter 171: Accompany (3)
Silas needed the fish to eat when he used up all his money for his mother’s treatment and didn’t have much left for himself.
Aya needed fish when she didn’t have anyone treating her because all of her money was used to buy herbs to enhance her mana faster. Otherwise, Aya would not be able to reach rank 7 so quickly. After all, mana was about accumulation and the alchemy was a way for her to shortcut it.
The problem was only that the shortcut was really expensive.
Even with her status as the little princess of the White Family, Aya still felt the lack of money deeply.
Of course, they have other ways to earn money.
But this method was not very convenient in Wansu City where their positions were a bit awkward. Silas was being watched by the Black Family Patriarch and the Fourth Head of the Wansu City. Neither of them would leave him alone and Silas had noticed this for a long time.
After his father passed away, his uncle became wary of him. At the same time, the Fourth Head of the Wansu City was also approaching him from time to time and talked about many inexplicable matters.
This made Silas deeply realized that his position might be a bit awkward and special.
Some people wanted to make use of him for their own agenda.
Starting from that time, Silas carefully tread forward, making sure that no one would be able to notice his real strength.
But it was really difficult.
There were many times when Silas really wanted to just show off his ability and deal it all with nothing more than violence.
Aya had already known that the Fourth Head of the Wansu City would not let them grow easily. The war that should have been easily won with overwhelming advantage could be put in such dire straits because of the Fourth Head of the Wansu City’s order.
If not because of her interference, so many people will die.
And Aya knew that these patriarchs were wary of the Fourth Head of the Wansu City.
She herself was also staying low, making sure no one truly noticed her ability because it would only make things difficult for her.
Being the genius meant that she would be watched.
But as the relatively ordinary magic warrior, Aya was not watched that much. It was even more so when Evan showed his brilliance as the greatest genius in the White Family.
Now that Aya had reached rank 7, she felt more at ease because her strength had increased leaps and bounds. But this was not enough.
The problem was that the improvement she could make would be very limited.
These herbs she had collected could help her to make some precious potions to increase her mana. But aside from that, Aya would need a large amount of precious food.
And the previous food usually came from the meat of higher ranked magic beasts.
She can hunt them, yes.
But they were located so far away.
Even if Aya wanted to, she knew very well that it would be impossible for her to go out for a long period of time without anyone noticing.
So her options were only two, it was either to show her real ability and apply for personal mission. Or she sneaked out and abandoned her current identity.
Either option was not very good.
Aya was trying to keep the balance of her identity as the young princess and also figured out a way to get out from time to time.
But this was for later.
For now, she should consolidate her strength first and the herbs would be enough if she wanted to start advancing her mana again.
"Then, let’s go fishing," Aya said.
She didn’t want to let Silas spend so much money for her. She could take care of herself and there was truly no need for Silas to take care of her.
"Okay."
With that, the two of them walked out of the restaurant.
Silas could guess that Aya was also considering his financial situation and picked the options that would benefit them both. In any case, they understood that as long as the food was edible, it was still acceptable for them.
"I’ll be the one to roast it," Silas said after they came out.
"Ah? I still can roast the meat," Aya complained. If it was only roasting some meat, she still has some confidence. After all, this was how she survived back then when there was not much food left when she was going out.
"No."
"Why?"
"Your roasting skill is not very good," Silas replied and smiled. "Do you think the others will be happy when they see you roasting the meat until it’s almost completely scorched?"
Aya was silent.
Well... that was true.
She usually couldn’t control the time well and to make sure that the meat was completely cooked, Aya would leave them a bit longer. The result was that some parts were a bit black and tasted bad. But some other parts were still relatively edible and tasted quite good.
So Aya never complained about her cooking skills.
Anyway, she already knew that her skills were bad.
Silas chuckled. "I also want to eat, so I better be the one to cook it."
"That’s... fine." Aya pouted.
Seeing Aya’s deflated expression, Silas only felt amused. He raised his hand and rubbed Aya’s head tenderly. "Don’t worry, you’ll get better with time and practice. But this practice couldn’t be this time."
Aya rolled her eyes.
Does he have to add the last sentence?
Though, it did make sense considering that Silas wouldn’t want to eat those black dishes.
Even if Silas was not the best in cooking, he would not make those kinds of dishes that make one doubt their lives.
As the two of them walked down the street, they saw Rafi and Silas’s mother in the distance, not far from the gate. From the way it looked like, they were also planning to take a walk outside.
Silas immediately saw them but didn’t step forward to interrupt.
They looked happy.
