Chapter 114: Patrick and Silas
Chapter 114: Patrick and Silas
"Awww..."
"Fine..."
These children were still interested in what Patrick was about to say, but they also knew that this was already late at night. Staying here any longer would not do them any good.
Besides, this was still the Black Family Residence’s area.
The four children still knew the little intrigues in the city and didn’t want to challenge the adults’ patience. So they quickly came out of the courtyard after bidding farewell to Patrick.
Patrick sighed.
He just had some fun with these children but had to be interrupted. He could guess that the one who asked Silas to come should be that Black Family Patriarch and the Fourth Head of the Wansu City. These two people didn’t like him.
The former felt that he was a disgrace to the family while the latter felt that he was too dangerous to exist in this era.
Though, Patrick didn’t really care.
"Boy Silas, I’m sure you’ll reach the limit soon enough," Patrick said slowly. "Have you thought about what I told you before?"
Silas paused in his footsteps.
His talent was indeed really good and to be able to reach this height at such a young age meant that there were not many people who could contend with him. But at the same time, Silas also knew that there were not many people who would allow him to grow smoothly afterwards.
Because they didn’t want to destroy the delicate balance that had existed.
"Granduncle, I appreciate your kindness, but..."
"Do you really think that this city is really good?" Patrick interrupted.
Silas didn’t answer and only looked at Patrick.
Patrick saw Silas’s eyes and smirked. "Oh, it seems that you’re not as naive as I thought you would be. You should know how to protect yourself, aren’t you?"
When he saw the little boy back then, he felt that Silas might be used by the city for themselves. He was pretty naive and seemed to think that everyone could get along with each other.
It was stupid.
For Patrick, the behavior of trusting others so wholeheartedly like that was definitely very stupid and shouldn’t be done by someone from the Black Family.
They were all people who have been tempered by war and fought countless battles on the frontline, but they still think that there were others whom they could fully trust? Patrick had learned in the hard way that he should not trust others so easily.
"Thank you Senior for your advice. This junior is not suitable to follow your path," Silas said respectfully and bowed once more.
Before he could turn around and leave, he heard Patrick say, "If you really think that this city is unsafe, you might consider leaving. There’s no point in staying loyal to a city that only knows how to kill their own geniuses."
Kill their own geniuses...
Silas was reminded of the time when he was on the frontline and saw his own teacher’s desperation and the sight of so many people dying. Because of the order from the Fourth Head of the Wansu City, they all implemented his plan.
Only to have them dying.
And the Fourth Head of the Wansu City never thought that it was wrong.
Again and again.
If not for the appearance of that person who disrupted the entire war, Silas was sure that he might not be able to come back alive anymore.
Silas bowed and then left.
Patrick saw this and clicked his tongue. He knew that something must have happened out there but Silas didn’t want to tell him.
Anyway, it didn’t matter for Patrick.
He was confined here and had no interest in going out and made a fuss.
It would be better for him to stay here for a long time.
’Let’s hope those annoying people won’t come and disturb my sleep again.’ When Patrick thought about this, he felt a bit annoyed. That Fourth Head of the Wansu City had paid him a visit in the past and it was nothing more than disturbing him.
...
Outside the courtyard, Leon sighed.
"There are still many things I want to talk with Granduncle," Leon muttered in a low voice.
"What do you usually talk about?"
"About Granduncle’s experience," Leon replied. "He’s amazing."
The others: "..." They felt that Leon might have idolized Patrick, but from what they have heard, Patrick’s method in battle was somewhat violent and straightforwardly brutal, right?
Aya looked at Leon with a strange look.
It was no wonder that Leon often wanted to compete with Evan in pure strength. He might have been influenced by Patrick.
The problem was, Leon’s talent seemed to be more towards control rather than pure and raw strength like that.
"Let’s go back. I’m already sleepy and tomorrow, we’ll have our first mission. It’ll be better if we can have enough rest," Evan said.
"Right."
"Agree..."
The others nodded in agreement.
Aya and Dean were especially so because their physical strength was drained after fighting against their own shadow for a period of time. While they did gain something, the physical strength exertion was by no means small.
They would need to rest for a while after this.
"Okay, we’ll meet again tomorrow!" Leon nodded.
As they were about to separate, Silas walked out and saw these children bidding farewell with each other. He shook his head and turned to look at Leon. "Why did you bring them to see Granduncle?"
Silas is Leon’s cousin, but he was not Patrick’s grandson, so he also called Patrick as Granduncle. If one had to say, their lineage was not that big but it couldn’t be said to be small either.
"Granduncle asked me to bring them to him, Brother Silas," Leon replied and looked at Silas in confusion. "Do you not bring your teammate to him?"
Silas pursed his lips and shook his head lightly.
His teammates were Nathan and Nisa. Considering the situation when the team was formed and their own background, Silas decided not to bring them to see Patrick. He had the feeling that things might not end well if he did.
