Chapter 891: Section 588: Confidence (Part 3)

The two groups of Chaotic Believers in the manor were sorely unlucky; Malin and Ails—two Legendary Casters—created a Spell Formation that turned the three-and-a-half-story building where they were into ruins, and eventually, it was only through the scattered trinkets on a number of corpses that Casaman could deduce that these were members of the cult he once belonged to.

In other words, it was them who summoned Good Fortune Sir, but as for the person who came to kill them and ultimately perished in the fire with them, their identity remained unconfirmed.

Speaking of which, why would they summon Good Fortune Sir? Casaman’s cult did not worship Good Fortune Sir. This question piqued Malin’s curiosity, but clearly, there was no one left to answer it. After these fellows died a violent death, their souls dissipated quickly; Ails managed to intercept two, but during verification, he found that the first soul was already mad, most likely having gone utterly insane when faced with a dead end—this is quite typical within Chaos Cults.

You see, everyone is a good friend in the chaos and evil, so it’s nothing strange stabbing each other, or even oneself. Thus, Ails gleefully accepted the soul of the Chaotic Believer, and Malin had no objection.

Another was an innocent citizen who had no idea why he was at the scene, only remembering his name was Hadagan. Malin purified this soul.

With a change in the situation, Malin and Ails had to use Spiritual Energy and Spell Formation to clear out everything from the ruins, eventually discovering a problem—there was an underground chamber in the manor with several corpses of innocent civilians who died of asphyxiation.

At the same time, they found one of the ’corpses’ was still alive—though horribly burned, this person’s heart was still beating.

"Vampire, and it seems to be of a rather high rank." Zem checked and then turned his head to Jiaxi: "Go find two bags of blood plasma from our carriage, and bring the silver stakes too."

"No need." As Malin spoke, he raised his left hand and saw an old tree in the manor stand up and replant itself in front of Malin.

In front of everyone, Malin reached out into thin air and two bags of blood plasma appeared in his hands. The Vampire’s body was controlled by Ails to spread out its arms, and branches suitable for restraining it sprouted from the trunk.

Malin tore open a bag of blood plasma and poured it directly into the Vampire’s mouth, and the body immediately opened its mouth to drink in pain.

Its charred body began to heal, and soon its limbs started to move. Malin tossed another bag of blood plasma to the Vampire, who drank it all up and then raised its head: "In gratitude for saving me, I won’t kill you."

Ails caught his own jawbone.

Old Mister Jack and his lover Lena convulsed with laughter.

"I have to write this guy’s words into my memoirs," Grael laughed, holding his waist.

Zem glanced at Jiaxi who handed over a lighter and brought the cigarette in his mouth closer, while his teammates showed the kindly smiles appropriate for those enjoying a good show.

Lulu laughed foolishly while trying hard to hold back her demon-hunting dog from causing trouble for her Mister Malin; the dog’s death wouldn’t be a problem, being a summoned Spiritual Body, it could revive the next day. Lulu was worried it might actually kill the Vampire.

Malin licked his lips, making the four World Tree Saplings transformed into aggressive hunting dogs at his feet step back, then looked at the Vampire and sighed.

"Friend, are you sure you want to be my enemy?"

At this moment, Malin still wanted to give the Vampire a chance to repent.

"Yes, Short-lived Species, do you know who I am?! I am the famous Count Wasp! The Daywalker!"

The Vampire’s exaggerated tone and outstretched arms made it seem somewhat convincing, though being fully naked indeed made for an awkward spectacle.

"You’re a Daywalker, you should know that you were born to your mother after she was infected to become a Blood Slave while pregnant with you. You were supposed to avenge your mother, but instead, you became a Vampire, a monstrous parricide who aids tyranny." Old Jack spat out before looking at Malin: "Mister Malin, we should make him understand the dreadful situation he’s in, use silver execution tools to show him the despair he faces."

"That’s exactly my intention. To deal with such an ignorant Vampire, we indeed need a grand scene." As Malin spoke, he reached out his hand and pulled the mist-formed Vampire from the void back into reality. The terror-stricken Vampire was slapped against the tree trunk by Malin, the World Tree saplings eagerly bound him up.

The silverware cleared from the ruins lined up and came to Malin, melting and transforming before him; the debris that had melted and been encapsulated by the flames were cut away.

"You’re Malin! Malin Gaiate! The Malin from Carterburg?!" It was at this point the Vampire Earl finally realized who he was facing. It seems for the first time, this Long-lived Species recognized the true Long-lived Species before him. Struggling and screaming, he chose to surrender in fear.

"I—I can reveal my identity! Don’t kill me! I can tell you everything I know!"

"Really?" Malin smiled.

"Truly! Your Excellency! Your great name resounds even in our world like thunder, I salute you! Great Conqueror! Surrendering to you is indeed the right choice!"

Old Jack placed his hands on his hips, "Does that mean we can’t kill him now, Your Excellency?"

"Yes, if he truly cooperates with our work, we indeed cannot kill him as a repayment. As long as this Vampire can truly reveal everything he knows, if it enables Zem and the others to eradicate nearby Chaos Cult branches all at once, then there really is no reason for me, Malin, to kill this Vampire - I can’t set a bad precedent. Even if this Vampire’s crimes are punishable by death, I must spare him: Of course, he shouldn’t think about getting away. The Church of Justice will give him a prison sentence long enough to make him regret, or perhaps... he might indeed reform."

"I am willing to serve my sentence! As long as I can survive! I can tell you and your friends about why these two cults have clashed with each other."

"First, explain what’s going on with these innocent citizens," Lulu stepped in front of Malin.

The Vampire frowned, "Little woman, what are you interrupting for!"

"She is my wife," Malin introduced Lulu with a smile, as if the recent brutality of the fool Vampire never happened.

"My lady, they were the sixth batch of sacrifice victims, and I was the unlucky bloodsucker coming to stealthily drain some blood. I got trapped at the entrance to the basement when they started fighting, then everything that happened thereafter is already known to you," Mr. Vampire immediately switched to a completely new fawning expression like his former fierceness never existed.

Lulu, looking at the circle beneath the Vampire’s feet which indicated he wasn’t lying, nodded and said, "Since you’re only a passing opportunistic thief, then how could you know any insider information?"

"I eavesdropped on their entire negotiation process, and I recognized that guy who came by, he’s a local Noble named Totovic Krich."

Seeing the circle beneath his feet, Malin smiled, then turned to Zem, "Alright, you guys deal with this fellow, I’m going west with Ails." After speaking, Malin turned to Lulu, "Stay here, I will have Fio and Lorrin follow you, take good care of this child."

Upon hearing this, Lulu turned to look at the child floating in the air; noticing her gaze, the child immediately opened his arms and embraced her.

Feeling the softness of these little ones, Lulu hugged her, "No problem, leave it to me."

"Good, Zem, give me a pass." Since they couldn’t open the door directly, Malin could only leave the city with Ails, and so he took the pass that Zem threw to him.

"By the way, where are you going?" asked Lulu.

"To a place from before the Great Destruction Era, called the Innsmouth Bio-Facility."

Ails, as a conscientious elder Historian, immediately responded.

Lulu exclaimed, "Is that the sanctuary you mentioned in the story of Wasp and Mira last time, Malin?"

Malin nodded, "Extremely dangerous."

"Please let me come with you, Malin, I want to see the world that existed before the Great Destruction with my own eyes, and see the Holy Nest that Mira talked about. I have heard of the stories you told me, so bring me along, Malin, don’t leave me with regrets," Lulu said, staring at Malin waiting for an answer.

After thinking it over, Malin ultimately didn’t let her down, "It’s okay to bring you, but what about this child?"

"I can take her with me, she is a life blessed by Mother Earth, she won’t be as fragile as a normal child." After saying this, Lulu patted the little creature’s back, "Little one, is momma Lulu right?"

"Don’t be silly, girl, she can’t speak yet." Malin shook his head but eventually agreed, "Alright, take her, but you must walk in the middle of the group."

This child was even able to reach Ails’s head, so she shouldn’t be as vulnerable as a real child, Malin thought, feeling somewhat reassured. Thus, the group grew by two more, and Malin simply took Jiaxi from Zem to take them out of the city by carriage, then he could drive back to the estate.

What a good idea. When Malin jumped on the carriage, he smiled and gestured to the three elders standing at the side of the street watching him.

"Wait for my return, and I’ll treat you to a good meal," Malin promised with a smile.

These three had done so much for this world; they deserved for Malin to cook for them next time.

"May your journey be smooth sailing, Mr. Malin," Lady Lena bid farewell to Malin with a smile.
