Chapter 890: Section 587: Confidence (Part Two)

Leaving the corpse of the Evil God follower for the police squad to guard, Malin reverted back to his adult form, then held the youngster in his arms, handing the new address found in the follower’s mind to Zem who had come upon hearing the news. Malin looked at the middle-aged man with triangular eyes in Zem’s team: "Sir, do you have any questions?"

"Do you intend to purify that child yourself?" asked the middle-aged man while opening his collar, revealing the emblem of the Church of the War God: "Forgive me for not introducing myself; I am a Judge of the Church of the War God. Heroes like you need not know my name."

"No need, Mr. Judge, this child has received the blessings of Mother Earth and has been permitted by the gods to walk upon the land."

"Ah, are you referring to the Goddess of Harvest? However, I think a soul from Subspace does not lie, it’s too dangerous, my lord."

The Judge looked at Malin, his heart stirring with intent. Just as Malin was about to act, a rift opened between the two men.

Ails poked his head out.

·Lord Malin, I was supposed to come find you just now, but as you know, it was quite dangerous here a moment ago.

Ails said this, blocking a bullet with his bone hand, then turned his head to look at the Judge.

·For heaven’s sake, didn’t you notice that none of Malin Lord’s four World Tree Saplings made a move against me?

The Judge silently holstered his Revolver: "Sorry, occupational habit."

"...What is it, Ails?"

·The Northern Kingdom paid my salary today, and after doing the math, it’s about the salary of a major general. I’m not sure what to do with all this Mowish Paper Money. Could you give me some advice?

With that, Ails finally noticed the youngster in Malin’s arms.

·Oh my god, this child is too adorable - look at her, those charming big eyes, cute little mouth, and all these tentacles with sacred inscriptions on them. Mother Earth? The lady?

"Yes, you know her?" Malin asked curiously while handing the child over to Ails, who then held her.

·I’ve seen them in Mark City, those are two very powerful deities. I hadn’t washed off my vanity then, and you see, I nearly couldn’t serve you anymore.

As Ails sighed, he lifted the child up. The little girl didn’t seem to fear Ails a bit, instead she laughed and struck Ails’ head with her tentacles.

Ails’ head fell to the ground.

Malin laughed, picked up Ails’ head, and placed it back where it belonged.

Watching the child’s happy expression, Malin nodded with a smile: "Ails, I never thought you’d have a talent for making children laugh."

·Damn it, I wasn’t trying to make her happy at all. It felt like I was hit by some sort of large self-moving mechanical vehicle.

While sighing, Ails handed the child back to Malin, then straightened his head.

·She really is strong; I nearly couldn’t find my own head again.

"After all, it’s a child blessed by Mother Earth, she asked me to take good care of him." Malin recounted what had happened and then looked at the middle-aged man who was still itching to act: "Mr. Judge, I’ve already said, I will not hand this child over to you to deal with, trust me, he is safe."

"...Alright, I’ll take your word for it, but I will still report the existence of this child to the churches; Mother Earth is not a local deity." With that, the Judge turned and left the scene.

·Lord Malin, are all humans this fearless of death?

After watching the Judge leave, Ails turned to look at Malin.

His words carried some curiosity, and Malin smiled: "Didn’t he say he’s a Judge? I’m rather lenient towards those who handle human affairs."

·Really? Well then, let me show you something interesting.

After speaking, Ails reached into his robe, his Spatial Bag apparently still fixed to his pelvis... What an odd fellow.

Then Malin saw the Lich pulling out a small crystal column.

·Look, I found this in the Western region of the Northern defense line. It’s quite special - look, there are sealed fairies inside. I’m not sure if they are still alive. Out of respect for life, I didn’t smash it to check. I think you might understand something about it.

"Jason." Malin called for the dormant Jason, who upon seeing the item in Ails’ hands immediately exclaimed, "Biotech armor from the Insmouse Biological Factory, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen such kin from before the Great Destruction Era, what a shame, it’s unlikely to see such little creatures alive again."

With Jason’s introduction, Malin gained information about Mira’s species once again.

Insmouth, located in the Dutch Lowlands, a bio-factory specialized in producing such miniature nanobiological entities. They could merge with the human body to create warriors equipped with inherent armor—a yet another "great experiment" by Europeans.

They succeeded, and these nanobiological entities were far more efficient than the surgery-required armored assault troops of the Northerners.

Of course, the premise was... Chaos had not invaded.

But the fact was that Chaos had invaded, and most Insmouth Insectoids were twisted into monsters, becoming some of the most dangerous creatures inside the distorted armors—twisted synthesizers of humans and machines.

However, a small portion of Insmouth Insectoids, along with the survivors at that time, managed to live on in a refuge below the bio-factory throughout the Second Epoch.

After that, Jason gradually lost track of them.

"Do you have the exact address of that factory?" Malin wished to visit and see this world that was likely already silent.

"No problem, I’ve marked the coordinates on the tablet for you. I’m off to continue searching for the missing Emperor of the Byzantine Empire; I’m curious to see how much longer he can hide," Jason said as he maneuvered his small flying body back into Malin’s waist bag. Before diving back in, he glanced at Ails, "Lord Malin, if it’s possible, may I research this rib next time? I feel he’s a very interesting entity."

"I believe Ails will cooperate with you, as long as you ensure no harm comes to him," Malin said as he looked toward Ails, who nodded in response.

·I feel like I can study each other with this alchemical being; it would certainly be a remarkable research experience.

"That’s great," Jason said contentedly as he burrowed back into the bag. Malin tossed the small crystal column in his hand back to Ails, "This life has withered away. I’ve decided to take you to Insmouth this time, so we can see the world together."

Truth be told, Malin had never seen such an interesting refuge—an integrated graveyard for artificial life and humans. He hoped this trip would bring him some surprises.

But for now, first things first—Malin needed to take care of Lulu and this child.

So, Malin took Ails to find Zem, only to discover that these guys were surrounding the estate by the city walls, exchanging fire from behind cover.

Only upon asking did he learn that a battle had already broken out here when they arrived—the Chaotic Believers were unhappy about being made scapegoats, so they gathered forces to retaliate against their peers.

When Zem and his crew arrived, these guys had already breached the estate. Since they were also dressed in police uniforms, the nearby army mistook them for Zem’s men conducting operations and even helped them blow the estate’s gates open.

The result was that as soon as Zem arrived, he trapped both sides inside the estate, where inside, as they passionately fired at outsiders, they were also engulfed in fire with their adversaries within the mansion.

"Whose estate is this?" Malin asked.

"It belongs to an Earl from The Capital; he leased this estate to outsiders, claiming they were good friends of his. So now there’s a very harsh question: whether the dear Earl knew what was going on or not," Zem sighed as he reached out to catch the cigarette case Malin tossed to him.

Handing the child over to Zem, Malin picked up the staff combined from Fio and Lorrin, "Ails, let’s set all our guys on this side ablaze together."

"Not a problem, beginning to synchronize Spell Formation wavelengths, Flame Burst Spell, or a moving Fire Wall?"

"Extended and strengthened, let’s go, Ails," Malin said. Then, he tapped the ground in front of him with his staff,

and the staff in Ails’ hand also tapped the surface.

A massive Fire Wall Spell rose from before Malin like a breaking wave, rushing swiftly towards the small building until right before the windows, the elemental creatures dived in through the glass windows as if alive.

"Ah, fantastic, our poor Earl Swab’s home is gone," lamented a police officer.

Yes, the home was gone.

Gazing at the estate as it rapidly burned like it was kindled from within, then collapsed within seconds, Malin turned to look at Ails, who was also staring at him, "Ails, you didn’t enhance it with extreme super ability just now, right?"

·Correct, it didn’t even cross my mind to use that.

Malin sighed—how was he to frame this accident to look like a true accident? As he pondered, he saw a burning creature scrambling out from the ruins.

"Damn! This one isn’t dead!" Zem stood up prepared to shoot.

But someone was faster—Malin kicked the Chaotic back into the flames with a foot.

"You are quite formidable," Ails whispered next to Malin.

Rolling his eyes, Malin thought this operation was truly life-threatening. Next time he would have to be more cautious with his spells.
