Chapter 872: Section 574: Discovery (Part 2)

"What kind of Chaos is this, and from which family?" Malin picked up a piece of meat and felt it—strange, there was no smell of Chaos at all.

"Uh, Lord Malin, this is not the flesh of chaos creatures you’re thinking of, but a type of self-growing flesh orb referred to as Chaos that is usually dug out from underground in the North. It looks like biological meat, yet it’s not alive. Eating it can cause hallucinogenic and other toxic effects. We Northerners wouldn’t eat this stuff. It seems they were planning to sell it as a Northern specialty jerky in the South. Many merchants do this." Under the soldier’s explanation, Malin finally understood, patted him on the shoulder in gratitude for the explanation, then put the lid back on: "Remember to mark these meats and burn them."

Tuojin directly took out a piece of charcoal and drew a large cross on top.

Arriving at the second pile of boxes, there were only three boxes. Malin opened the pried lid and saw cans produced by his own cannery.

Tuojin laughed upon seeing them: "I never imagined that canned goods would be preserved with such care by them... Hmm, seem to be canned fruits?" Tuojin was curious, but Malin understood—these fruits came from his own Semi-Plane, rich with elemental powers, and it looked like part of them had been collected. Were they intended to be sold to the North?

Ha, these guys must not have realized that Malin no longer makes this kind of canned goods—only the freshest fruits have the best effect, so now Malin only takes pre-orders from various parties, with fixed shipments each season.

Looking at the production date—wow, two years ago.

Malin remembered that the longest shelf life for these goods was three years, which meant that this batch was actually stuck with the warehouse owner—major Noble families and the Church would get their goods directly from Malin, and no buyer capable of buying in bulk would want these outdated goods.

"Tell the soldiers to split these goods into two parts and distribute them to the Goddess of Harvest and the Winter Wolf respectively." Before Malin and his people came to crash the place, he had already informed the Assistant Priests of these two Churches here, which is why he played the role of the invisible man—when a High Priest like Malin shows up, it’s not the turn for the young Assistant Priests to show themselves.

Tuojin immediately found two soldiers and had them evenly distribute the three boxes of cans, while also sending two squads of soldiers to contact the two Churches to come and pick up the goods themselves.

There were many more boxes in the third pile. Malin opened a lid and saw shiny yellow bullets, the latest model from the workshop. Malin picked up a bullet and looked at the bottom of the casing, confirming it didn’t match the batch code he sold to the Northern Legion.

Throwing the bullet to Tuojin, Malin gave a new order: "Send it back to the workshop and have them check who ordered these bullets."

Tuojin wrote down the details on paper, and Malin continued forward. When he arrived at the boxes he noticed a problem—where had the girl Lulu gone?

Turning around, Malin saw Lulu outside the door, standing by the cart carrying corpses, flipping through the bodies.

What happened?

With curiosity, Malin walked over, and when he noticed that Lulu was inspecting a blond head, he spoke: "Do you recognize him?"

"Yes, he was my classmate when I studied at the Church academy; I don’t know where he went afterward... How did he end up here?" While explaining, Lulu glanced at the back of the blond head: "Strange, if he was expelled, the mark of expulsion should be behind his left ear, but I don’t see it, and if he didn’t graduate from the academy, he shouldn’t have fallen to this level."

So Malin raised his hand, lifting several bodies off the blond man, then dragged him down from the cart.

Lulu pulled open his blood-soaked shirt... poor guy, with a chest hit by seven bullets, he was shot just like Kenjiro.

"Weird, there’s neither a tattoo representing graduation nor a mark of expulsion, what’s the deal with this guy?" Lulu wondered.

Malin thought about it and used Spiritual Energy to strip off all the man’s clothes, and eventually saw a small tattoo on the sole of his foot.

"Strange, I’ve never heard of any tattoos inked on the heel." Lulu expressed a certain curiosity.

"Let’s keep the corpse for now; you can go ask your Church Academy about it." Malin felt there might be more to the story than meets the eye.

He summoned two soldiers and instructed them to find a coffin for the deceased. After washing his and Lulu’s hands with Holy Water and sanitizing them, Malin returned to the warehouse with her to continue the inspection.

The fourth batch of goods was entirely composed of various potions. Malin frowned—without labels, he didn’t know the effects of these potions, and it certainly wasn’t wise to open one at random for a sniff. After all, drawing out a poison would be quite the celebration.

Better to have them sealed away.

With this thought, Malin personally marked the potions and had Lulu contact Rewo to deal with them later through the teleportation channel.

The fifth batch of goods contained rum, a specialty of Farole. These fellows seemed to have smuggling channels for spirits, how intriguing.

Malin took out a bottle and examined the place of origin on the label: "Rongma, it’s indeed quite the journey you’ve taken." After putting the bottle back, he patted the crate: "Seal these up; I will deal with them later and hand them over to the respected King Manheim."

Although the Northern Kingdom did not prohibit alcohol, they banned foreign liquor, so these were ultimately smuggled goods.

Best to let the King deal with it.

"Your Excellency, these spirits could be given to the Field Medical Corps; they’ll surely be useful," Tuojin spoke up frankly.

Malin thought it over and agreed, as these sugary spirits could indeed help the wounded. He decided to let Tuojin handle their storage and use.

In the next set of crates, Malin saw high-quality canned meat from his own factory... Yes, that was certainly good stuff. The meat chunks, after cooking, not only had a longer shelf-life but also provided better effects than fruit, and these came from beasts bred in the Semi-Plane.

"These canned meats—keep sixty percent for the Field Medical Corps and add a meal’s worth for the soldiers." There were at least eighty crates containing tens of thousands of cans. Malin left their distribution to Tuojin, who nodded, and then the political commissars from the two squads that came along began allocating the cans.

He continued to follow Malin to the next batch of goods.

Inside the newly opened crate were silver ingots—a truly fine item. Once refined into sacred silver, added to weapons, they could effectively combat all sorts of demons and ghosts. Malin’s soldiers each carried two Bayonettes—one made of ordinary steel and the other of sacred silver, using them as needed for full coverage of all unexpected targets.

With a wave of his hand, Malin moved the crates into a teleportation channel he opened, destined for the Seafloor Base. From there, he would pass them to the forge.

In case someone bold came to Malin about the warehouse’s content... Ha, what content? It’s all been looted by rioters.

As Malin mused to himself, a soldier rushed out from the depths of the warehouse.

"Excellency Malin! Please come over here!"

There was a new discovery, so Malin led his men and followed the soldier deeper inside, where the lights were bright. Malin saw four opened crates filled with brand-new rifles.

"Brand-new rifles, Excellency, at least a hundred of them, the model we use," Tuojin stepped forward; he picked one up and inspected it: "Look, Your Excellency, there are no serial numbers."

"You see, owning a large business always breeds some trouble," Malin smiled at Lulu, barely concealing the fury in his heart.
