Chapter 584: Section 402: Mechanical Mind (Part 2)
Malin spent a day reading through Mr. Zhang’s diary he left behind and discovered that the man once had the opportunity to become a Caster, but he refused.
In his own words, knowledge should serve not a small group of people, but everyone.
Malin didn’t know if Mr. Zhang was being pedantic or if he truly was a Saint... but none of this mattered anymore, he was dead, with regrets.
Malin kept his electronic brain, hoping that one day, he could go back to look at it and incidentally visit Mr. Zhang’s hometown.
Death extinguishes a person’s life, but Malin also understood Mr. Zhang’s point—Jason was the piece he left behind, he had been maintaining Jason’s database for thousands of years, reinforcing security, and rewriting the core code of the artificial intelligence in the European region.
Now, they were actually obeying Jason.
Malin specifically asked Jason one question, "How many movies were made about the Terminator before the Great Destruction?"
"Over a hundred, I guess, it was pretty much the same thing over and over." Jason said but still sent over a hundred compressed videos to Malin’s tablet, "Thank the copyright laws, Mr. Malin, you can now watch them for free."
"Because the term expired?" Malin asked while randomly selecting one to glance at the summary—A tragic love story between a robot and a human? Directed by Toukiyou Youta, since when could the Japanese make Terminator movies, times really have changed.
"No, because the Union is destroyed." Jason said and then burst out laughing.
Malin laughed as well, and opened another movie to look at the summary, a fusion of mechanics and hot dance, experiencing the charm of Indian director Sanjani Singer’s debut.
So Malin watched for a while, and when the Terminator went to ask a local gang for pants and got denied, thereby turning to robbery, and the fight turned into a group dance, Malin dragged the movie to the recycle bin.
The Indian followed the tradition of Hollywood musicals, but that doesn’t mean it should be twisted to such an extent—what year was it to still have dance routines.
People from Hollywood had only done such things in musicals hundreds of years ago, and you... were simply clinging to bad habits.
"Mr. Malin, do you not like Indian directors?" Jason asked.
"No, I want to know if the caste system still exists." Malin countered.
"Every existence has its causes and effects, Mr. Malin, Indians need them, and we have no reason to force them to change all that." Jason replied with firm conviction.
Malin chuckled at this: "You see, this is why I hate them."
Being honest is the most important thing as a person, you must have convincing reasons for your dislikes.
At this thought, Malin suddenly remembered something: "Oh, are there parts III and IV of TLOU?"
"Yes, and there’s even Part IV. They were the classics of that era, all media gave them perfect scores, those who gave low scores were cloud gamers who didn’t understand anything, it’s a pity for such great works." When Jason said this, there was a familiar tone that Malin recognized.
"Jason, you sound quite sarcastic." Malin recalled and couldn’t help but exclaim.
"Thank you, Mr. Zhang used to say the same about me, but he said that learning to speak this way is one of the most important steps in our growth." Jason replied with genuine joy.
"Congratulations, Jason, I’m going to prepare to rest now, and tomorrow we’ll go meet the Casters." Malin said, put down the tablet, and walked towards the bedroom. Before opening the door, Malin turned to Jason, "By the way, do you dream, Jason?"
"No, that is one of the few things that make us different from humans." The virtual little man replied in the negative.
"Then, see you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow, Mr. Malin."
......
In a room without light.
A number ’101’ lit up as the sound arose, and the owner with an electronic crackle in his voice took charge of the meeting once again.
"Jason from Naples has sent a message, he has already connected with Malin, and he’ll come to see us tomorrow."
"It’s really incredible, isn’t it? His talent is quite astonishing, truly worthy of being the offspring of that Outsider. I feel like he’s a Superman who can do anything, although he does indeed look like one." The voice of ’76’ was very sharp.
"If he’s willing to befriend us, then that’s even better. He can provide us with excellent genes, and we might even take the genetic fragments from his Outsider ancestry to remake our bodies, of course, we need to be careful. After all, he is the darling of that War Maniac. Perhaps some hair would be a good choice." The voice of ’8’ was very hoarse, and its suggestion was agreed upon by its companion ’13’ beside it.
"According to Jason’s intelligence, Malin is not only the darling of that War Maniac but also loved by him, and even the so-called Goddess of Harvest has affection for him. Directly taking his genetic material might alienate him, but collecting some fallen hair would be a very discreet choice. My friends, this is a good thing, we should welcome our little friend properly, make him feel at home, and we can give him some benefits, like offering him the position of a Caster, we could even open it up to his little girlfriends. I believe with the temptation of safe, side-effect-free immortality, he will serve us." ’13’ said, then turned to ’87’, "What do you think?"
"Yes, ’13’ is correct; we’ve tempted some people this way before, except for the apprentices of the Outsider who have an abnormally lofty sense of mission, no one else can resist such a huge temptation. Although this child is the offspring of an Outsider, as far as we know, he wasn’t raised by him, even his mother didn’t like him, and as for his foster father... where is our Mr. Gaillot now?"
