He Teng’s footing nearly gave way because of Kang Xing’s words. He almost tripped and fell, his left foot obstructed by his right. After stabilizing himself, he turned back to look at Kang Xing, furrowed his brows, then turned back around while rubbing his forehead. He was beginning to waver on whether he should stop He Dongxue and Kang Xing from seeing each other.

Was Kang Xing really naive enough to believe such childish lies until now?

"Why are you giving me that look without saying anything, boss?" Kang Xing quickly caught up to He Teng when he saw him walking away. "Boss, if Zhilan is pregnant and has a baby, should it call you dad? Will you remarry Zhilan then? Zhilan likes you a lot, you should remarry Zhilan!"

He Teng felt a headache coming from Kang Xing’s questions. He picked up his pace, rushing back to the dormitory.

The next morning, He Teng hesitated for a while in the dormitory about whether to go to the guest house to invite He Zhilan and He Dongxue for breakfast. There was nothing significant about it, but the more he thought about what happened last night, the more embarrassed he felt.

"I slept very well!" replied a vague He Dongxue who then went on to look at her brother. Although there were no expressions on her brother’s face, his gaze was constantly fixed upon He Zhilan. He Dongxue couldn’t help but snicker inwardly; when he had something on his mind, his eyes always betrayed his composed demeanor. Now, his gaze clearly reflected deep concern for He Zhilan, masked underneath his stillness.

"Kang Xing, let’s go! I’m hungry. Let’s move a bit faster!" He Dongxue called out. Not wanting to play third-wheel any longer, she hurried Kang Xing along and left, leaving He Teng and He Zhilan behind.

Having received He Dongxue’s subtle hint, He Zhilan sneaked a thumbs up to her. After He Dongxue and Kang Xing had left, He Zhilan slowly walked over to He Teng and aligned her steps with his. Seeing him showing no reaction, she quietly accompanied him and refrained from initiating a conversation that might make him uncomfortable.
