Chapter 467: Pushing Through

"Umm..." the doctor stared at Talia and she felt her stomach twisting to a knot.

"No, it’s good news actually," the doctor smiled and only then Talia started breathing again.

"Congratulations, Your Highness... You’re having twins and both the babies are doing great!" The doctor said in a cheerful voice and Talia shrieked out of happiness and looked at Arthur.

He was frozen!

"Fred!" she held his hand and he looked at her.

"Twins?" he was lost for words.

When the doctor showed her the babies and let them hear the heartbeats of the little babies, Talia cried out of happiness. She felt different and she could feel Arthur gripping her hands hard. His eyes had turned red.

When they informed the family, everyone was joyous. On the way back and in her home as they ate lunch together, everyone seriously started discussing how the babies will look like.

Who will they take after? Are they identical twins? Will they be ginger? Will they be boys or girls or one boy and a girl...?

They all discussed and Talia sat and watched as it was fun. Louis even started a betting pool. Most of them voted for identical girls who have brown hair and green eyes. Lambert went for identical boys with redhair and blue eyes.

That night, lying on the bed, they looked at the pictures and Talia saw Arthur gently rubbing her belly and placing a soft kiss.

"I’ll protect them with my everything, Iris." He said and Talia kissed him.

"Then I can rest easy."

As her pregnancy announcement was not made yet, she started to trend on social media sights because of a video. Everyone cussed her and called her bringing the progress made by women back by five decades.

It was a video recorded by a paparatzzi shot using a long lens camera. In the video, Talia was squatting in front of Arthur who was sitting on the garden bench. He had placed his feet on her lap and she was tying the shoelace. Arthur – being Arthur, played with her and moved his foot making it hard for her to tie the shoelace while she giggled.

It was not a common sight in the Oakley castle and the staff would say that the reverse where the future Lord tying the Princess’ shoes would be the most common sight.

But a rare moment was caught and it was published almost immediately casuing a frenzy. People called her names and a slave and whatnot. They even blamed Arthur for being sexist and not caring about his wife.

Talia was infuriated mostly seeing the vile comments and the vitriol they spewed on Arthur.

"I will lick my husband’s shoes if I please! Who are they to comment on a private moment between my husband and me that was illegally obtained by a pap?" she shouted furiously.

Arthur immediately talked with the lawyers to sue the pap and every news agency that pubished that video. Even those who wrote op-eds weren’t spared.

NO one was spared and the news organizations were petrified with the force Talia and Arthur’s people used on them for breaching their privacy. Till then Talia bowed her head to the media allowing them to do what they please and this time she wasn’t willing to let go.

The papers issued an apology and videos were immediately taken down, but as usual, nothing is lost on the internet and people still shared that video.

What happened that day was completely innocent. Arthur wasn’t the kind of guy who mistreats her. The day before, they did some "dance moves" and Arthur ended up spraining his back.

When they took their morning walk, Talia realised his shoelace was loosened and she helped him tie it.

That simple matter was turned into something big as if Talia wants the women of the world to be slaves to the men in their lives. They even blamed Arthur.

But she put a stop to it and from then on, the papers were a bit careful with her. But some were infuriated with her for curbing freedom of speech and getting involved in the freedom of the press.

But Talia didn’t care. No one can infringe on her privacy and no one has the right to talk bad about her Fred.

Months passed and Talia’s pregnancy was announced. That news somehow pacified most of those who thought Talia’s actions were excessive towards the press. Everyone was happy for her.

It was around that time Lambert proposed to Jolene and she accepted. So a couple weeks after Talia’s pregnancy announcement Lambert’s engagement was announced.

Lambert’s wedding was announced a year later and Talia was about to give birth in the summer.

Talia carried out her engagements as usual although Arthur wanted her to rest all the time. They had a fight regarding this one day and they didn’t speak for two days.

But Arthur broke the silence after realising Peggy – his assistant, worked until a week before her delivery and she didn’t collapse.

During the second trimester scans, the doctor revealed that they are having a boy and a girl. Talia was extremely happy, but both of them decided to keep it a secret for the others in the family.

Talia decided to work until she is thirty weeks along. Maybe because she carried twins, she felt a lot tired as the babies grew.

She had the last engagement with the mental health charity she spearheaded – "Call out".

That day, Arthur was visiting her in Rosandale. Her belly was gotten big as she carried twins and she couldn’t breathe properly as her abbacies grew. She had to use the bathroom often and she got hungry all the time.

"Must you go tomorrow?" Arthur asked rubbing her belly.

"Yes, they will be waiting for me," Talia said. The people who love her will be waiting for her presence and she couldn’t disappoint them.

"The press will be there too," he grumbled.

After the recent debacle with the press, Arthur became too apprehensive of the media.

"I don’t care for them..." she said. Talia could feel him holding her tightly.

"I know," he kissed her cheek.

He knew how many people love her. But she doesn’t have to suffer because of them, he thought.

And he knew she won’t listen to him either.

"Sing for us, Fred," she rubbed the back of his head. Ever since she started feeling the movements of the babies, they never stop and she couldn’t cope up with her playful children.

They will be moving around, kicking, and rolling, and Talia won’t be able to rest properly.

The only thing that would calm them down was their father’s voice. When he sings, as if they are mesmerized, they’ll go all silent and Talia would fall asleep with them too.

The next morning, Talia got ready for her engagement. Arthur saw her with her big bump, trying to get ready. He didn’t know if it was the pregnancy, but Talia’s hair got much prettier. But he could see she was very tired.

"I’m going with you..." he said and Talia let out a deep breath.

Changing the schedule at the last moment will cause a lot of problems. But she was feeling a little down since last night and she felt like something was wrong. And so she thought having Arthur with her would be supportive for her.

They reached the venue and Talia felt weird in her stomach as she got down. It was so bad that she thought checking with a doctor would be good. But since she was already there, she decided to finish her engagement.

"You look pale..." Arthur said as he walked behind her.

"My stomach feels weird..." she didn’t lie. "Ask Sir Robert to have a route available to meet my doctor..." she told him and walked with her back straight as usual.

Arthur knew she is in discomfort and he was angry she still is deciding to continue her engagement. But she was surrounded by people who were helped by her and he stood in the back gritting his teeth.

"Fred, I’ll have to leave..."

Talia said and held her stomach. She felt a sharp pain and she looked at Ralph who was tactfully clearing a way for her with Sir Robert stopping others from getting close to her. Arthur held her hand and his heart skipped a beat as he felt her cold hand.

As she walked to through the hallways to her car, she felt another sharp pain and she stopped and took a deep breath. She felt something wet trickling down her legs and looked down.

"Blood..."
