Stand By Me Darling -
Chapter 435: Successful Initiative
Chapter 435: Successful Initiative
Talia felt someone staring at her and she turned to find it was Lord Lockhart. This time, she didn’t feel like he was judging her. She smiled at him with a nod and he returned a nod.
Talia searched for Arthur and found him in the middle of a group of men as they were all teasing and roasting him. She saw him trying to escape but he was pushed back and was not allowed to leave.
"Never mind them. That’s how men show their love for each other. They are weird creatures." Emily took a sip of wine and leaned leisurely at the back of the chair.
"Is it okay if I buy Carl a skateboard?" Talia asked Emily and she sighed.
"Did he ask you? That boy... He’s so careless! The other day he fell from his bike and it got broken. Then he wants a skateboard. I forbade his father to buy him a skateboard and so he came to you?" Emily was not at all pleased.
"No, he didn’t ask me. I talked to him and he seemed interested in skateboards. Since his birthday is coming up, I thought of buying him one. So should I look for something else?" Talia was frank since she knew Emily appreciated it.
"Ah... It is fine... Buy him what he wants. Only after getting hurt once or twice, he’ll know how to be careful." After some thought, Emily agreed.
Talia chuckled. "There are many latest designs that are suitable for little boys helping with their balance and I’ll get him one of those, along with all the protective gear."
After that, she talked with Marcella for some time and it seemed like they were close to getting engaged. Vivian was so busy with her photoshoots and they didn’t disturb her.
After staying for a while, Talia decided to leave since she had to take care of the final details of her new project "Call Out". She searched for her grandfather who was sitting with other old people chatting, and after excusing herself she went to Arthur’s dad.
"He left you alone and-"
"It’s fine, papa," Talia tried to calm down her father-in-law who got mad at him. "He needs to wind down once a while. He’s been through a lot the past few weeks. Let him spend some time with his friends relaxing."
Talia didn’t think he left her alone and enjoying himself with his friends. She knew he doesn’t spend enough time for relaxation and he’s not someone who drinks often either. He needs some relaxation or he will burn out.
"Will you please ask Roderick to take care of him and send him home afterward, papa? I am leaving and that’s why I wanted to ask you this." Talia explained. "And please don’t drink much, papa. Alcohol won’t go well with the medications you take." She got the glass of gin from his hand and passed him a glass of fruit punch.
"You are a good girl," Gregory Sinclair patted her back. "I’ll inform Rod. You can leave."
"Did you see that Lord Lockhart? I have the best daughter-in-law." Gregory lifted his glass and Lord Lockhart snorted, mumbling something under his breath.
"Aging has turned him more grumpy," Gregory Sinclair mumbled and looked at his sons who were playing some sort of games. At his age, there is nothing that could make him happier than seeing his children happy and getting along with each other well.
Talia got home and she had to conduct a lot of online meetings with her staff as they only had days for the launch of the initiative. When she got out, it was already time for dinner and she was surprised Arthur wasn’t home yet.
Celine called at that time and asked her how she was holding up after her breakup. Talia let out a sigh and as expected there were tabloid articles guessing the rift between Talia and Arthur.
There were many articles where "experts" would predict the breakup of Talia and Arthur after her kidnapping incident. They’ll write Arthur and Talia are closer than ever one day and the next day another article will be about them breaking up. Either way, they can say they predicted it.
Such sleazy b@stards!
And since Talia left Vivian’s wedding without Arthur, it gave them more to speculate on.
Talia walked to her grandpa’s room after ending her call with Celine and she found him already asleep.
After checking with Sebastian that her grandpa had dinner already, she asked about Arthur. Sebastian informed that he was brought to the Sinclair mansion since he was drunk.
Talia called the Sinclair mansion and she was informed that Arthur was sleeping and she didn’t want to disturb him. After having her dinner, she went to bed.
And lying on her bed without him, she couldn’t sleep. So she sat up and added more details to her wedding plan. She needed to prepare the guest list from her side since they all have to be vetted and given Visa to enter Rosandale for her wedding.
Even before she was halfway through the list, she felt her neck aching and she laid down.
She woke up pretty early and wondered if Arthur is fine. Rather than worrying alone, she decided to visit him. Since she felt shy to go there for no reason, she needed to find a reason. So, she brought him a change of clothes and she was very proud of her thoughtfulness.
She changed into an appropriate outfit and walked to the creek. The guards brought her to the Sinclair mansion and they weren’t even surprised when they saw her crossing the bridge. She tried to explain herself, but they seemed to not care and she kept her silence.
The house was silent except for the staff cleaning up. The butler led Talia to Arthur’s room and she opened the door and got in as it was not locked.
She walked inside and sat beside Arthur who was still in his dress shirt and trousers. He still reeked of alcohol, but he had a smile on his face. She placed the bag down and stared at his face for some time.
Here she is, unable to stay away from him for even a night and sneaking inside his room without shame.
"I’m done, Fred. I don’t think I can fall any more deeply for you."
Talia leaned and kissed the corner of his lips.
"Really?"
She heard his voice and the next thing was her being under him.
"You always surprise me, Iris. I didn’t think I’d wake up with your kiss today."
He pressed his lips on hers and Talia wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Your breath stinks," she giggled as his hand slipped inside her dress.
"I’m not going to back off with your provocation today," he kissed the back of her ear.
"Do you have a condom with-"
"Here," he pulled out one from his trouser pocket. "Ever since I’ve become a man, I’ve been carrying one on me all the time."
His face was filled with pride.
"What if someone enters?"
"No one will," he stared at the door and then jumped down from the bed and locked the door.
As he walked back Talia saw him undressing at a record speed. Within seconds he was bare naked and she covered her face. No matter how many times she looks at his thingamagingy, it still looked ugly to her.
But since she has learnt in an extreme way that any criticisms against his ’little guy down there’ will be dealt with violent ’loving’, she knew to keep her silence.
Arthur looked clean and fresh in the clothes Talia brought for him after a shower, while Talia’s clothes looked like it was chewed in a donkey’s mouth and her face looked red with embarrassment as they sat at the breakfast table.
Talia wanted to sneak out after getting on the pleasurable tussle with him, but she was caught by Arthur’s father before she snuck out and she had to eat breakfast with him.
Gregory Sinclair didn’t seem to notice anything and Talia was relieved. Both of them returned home talking a leisurely walk along the creek, holding hands, and chatting about mundane things.
The temperature had started to dip and the creek had started to freeze and Talia found Winter here as pleasurable since it reminded her of her good memories along the creek.
After staying there for a day, Talia returned to Rosandale and the next few days were hectic for her as she prepared for the launch of her initiative "Call Out" along with her diligent staff.
The day before her birthday, her portrait was released minutes before her birthday and her name became the trending topic once more as her birthday wishes almost overwhelmed the internet.
And on her birthday, her initiative was announced and was broadcast Live in television networks and social media, making it a success.
The ten minutes speech Talia gave about how she overcame her depression and how she is coping up still, broke the internet and hit a million views in just hours giving her the same status as popular pop singers.
Praises for her efforts and support for her initiative poured in and many people appreciated the steps taken by The Princess Royal for mental health. Her speech was spliced up and her words of appreciation to Arthur got millions of shares.
Her initiative became a ginormous success.
