Chapter 433: Vivian’s Wedding (1)
"What do you think of a carriage ride together as a couple after we get married?"
Talia asked for the umptieth time in the past couple of days, making Arthur sigh.
They were on their way to the McAllister Mansion where the wedding was arranged. Sitting in the car, all Talia could think of was about her wedding.
"I really don’t care. Since you care too much, do what you want." He said a little dryly.
"You are getting mad about it. So you don’t like it? Be frank with me, Fred. If you don’t like it we can-"
"Goodness gracious, woman!" he held his head and his eyebrows twitched. "Just do what you want. Stop nagging me. Geez! Since when did you become a nagging woman? Ugh! I don’t care. I really don’t! Even if you want me to wear a skirt and ride a pony on our wedding day, I would gladly do that, if you could stop nagging me now! Wow!"
Arthur found the strings of patience snapping in his brain. They were not strong, to begin with, and with her incessant nagging, he wanted to scream at her, but he tried to be gentler. And he failed.
Talia snorted and moved away from him to the window of the car. She could see he got angry and she understood she should tone it down. But then him mentioning skirts and ponies made her imagine him in a kilt.
"You will look good wearing a kilt... We can do a photoshoot with you in a kilt. You can paint colours on your face and sitting on the horse you can shout "Tell our enemies...that they may take our lives, but they’ll never take our FREEDOM!!!" And then you can charge-"
She paused seeing him laugh. "What? Isn’t ’Braveheart’ your favourite movie of all time?"
"It is. Come here," he pulled her closer to him as his voice softened. He was feeling bad for shouting at her, but here she is, acting like it didn’t happen.
He placed a kiss on her cheek. "Don’t ask me anything. Just tell me what I need to do on that day and I will do it."
"You’re no fun." Talia pouted. "I’ll make sure you do weird things that day."
"Eh...fine, if you insist... don’t cover your face as you walk down the aisle and don’t make me sleep separately the night before."
"Oh?" Talia now felt bad for asking him anything. These are the two things she cannot compromise and he is asking for that. "I’ll handle everything, so don’t bother anymore."
She shrugged and acted as if she was mad with him so that he won’t give other ’suggestions’ that she might not agree with.
Arthur saw her staring out through the window pretending to be angry with him and smirked. Of course, he knew how to make her back-off from pestering him. She’s too cute.
Talia and Arthur walked hand in hand to the wedding venue. Since the wedding was a bigger affair in Esteria uniting one of the oldest noble family and the newest noble family, not to mention the bride being a supermodel, the press coverage was high.
Talia didn’t want to make that day about her and so she wore a simple pale blue coat dress with a matching fascinator. To give a nod to her mother who was best friends with Cyril’s mother, she wore her mother’s favourite pearl-drop earring.
The press wasn’t allowed inside the wedding venue which was an awesome set designed by a popular designer, and the commotion from the outside was not heard inside. The entire place looked like a winter wonderland and was decorated with purple wisteria blossoms that symbolise longevity, love, fertility, beauty, and creativity.
At one glance Talia could see they’ve spent millions just for the set and she took some selfies with Arthur who wasn’t as enthusiastic as her to take many pictures. So she sneaked in with her grandpa who was seated with Lord Lockhart and took as many pictures as she pleased.
Although the wedding was arranged as a formal event, since it was not a Church, Talia felt comfortable moving around and greeting everyone. Marcella was the maid of honor and Archibald was the best man and so both of them were with the bride and groom respectively. Talia was welcomed by other members of the family. Alfred Wallace was out from his rehabilitation and he looked fine too.
Arthur and Talia were made to sit in the center row since it was where the guests who were invited by both sides were seated. Prince Edward was sitting next to Arthur and Talia gave her usual polite smile and then pretended that he was air the rest of the time.
Cyril just then came and stood in the front with Archie as the best man and some of his mates were the groomsmen. Talia knew the ceremony will start soon and got excited. She saw a picture of Vivian wearing the bridal gown during one of her fittings, but she was more curious seeing her wear it on her wedding day complete with make-up, bouquet and all.
"Boss! Your Royal Highness!"
The familiar voice with an odd cheer made Talia doubt if her hearing has gone bad.
"Jordan," Talia smiled while Arthur turned his face after a polite nod as if he doesn’t know him.
What a baby!
Talia laughed at Arthur in her heart and smiled gleefully at the beautiful lady beside him. "Lady Gina! How are you?"
After talking to them for a while both of them left.
"He seems happy with her. Haven’t I match them well, Fred?" Talia scratched Arthur’s knee with her pedicured nail and he held her hand rather forcefully.
"My fiancee’s a genius!"
He spoke in his usual voice, but Talia gritted her teeth as she got mad.
"Shut up, idiot!" she pinched his thigh. "What if someone hears? There is nothing worse than making an engagement announcement at a wedding. It will break friendships," she grumbled in his ears.
"What?" Arthur blinked as he was clueless. "Why?"
Wouldn’t everyone has to be informed one way or another? With everyone gathered wouldn’t this be a good time?
"It’s girl code. You Neanderthal won’t understand!" she turned her face and Arthur let out a deep breath.
Now I am a Neanderthal? Maybe she wants to keep it a secret even from her friends until the official announcement... She is pretty vain!
It was then the Minister announced the commencement of the wedding and it was the time of the entry of the kids.
Thomas Lockhart was the ringbearer and it was fun to watch Elizabeth’s youngest girl stumbling across the aisle before dumping all the flowers on the floor at once. That little girl even sat in the middle refusing to walk further and Thomas carried her to the front. It was all fun to watch and the entire hall was filled with laughter.
Then, the bridal march was played and everyone stood up for the bride.
