Chapter 138: A Long Kiss (2)
" I feel guilty that I can’t be with you. When that scoundrel pulled your hair... When I saw that picture of you, clearly disturbed by the cameras, I despised myself for not being near you. I miss you too... I miss you like crazy. Everytime that woman tries to meet me or I had to make appearances with her, I feel like a scum. I’m sorry... " he couldn’t look at her and rested his forehead on her shoulders.
Talia rubbed his back gently. Everytime she sees him together with her, she feels terrible too. But...
" Is the plan working? "she asked.
" Hmm"
"Then that’s all that matters right? Don’t feel guilty. I want you to be happy."
Talia said and even she was surprised by the words coming out of her mouth. She truly was not a very magnanimous person.
"Did you talk to President Carter about Wallace Pharma," Arthur looked at her and asked.
"Isn’t there an epidemic? I heard now it is under control?" Talia really was relieved. However she did what she did for her own selfish reasons too. For now
"Let them talk bad about me all they want. Let Lord Wallace know that I had a hand in this subtly. He won’t act immediately. Make Olivia seem pretentious and controlling; that won’t be hard though. Make the ministers bemoan their inability to work for the people with the Council’s interference. And finally release the truths about everything including my conversation with Prince Edward and we can topple the power of the Council easily and I can return to Esteria," Talia took in a deep breath. She knew all these but who knows how long it will take?
" Don’t worry... That other plans can be handled slowly.... For now, your safety is more important," Arthur kissed her cheek.
Her plans aren’t different from his. He thought that her blood reaction with the much loved Jerome Brunton is enough for the people to side with her. But she actually is making herself a valuable assert to the country. Getting medicines for the epidemic is only the first step.
If people come to know that while the Prince and Olivia were releasing statements of condolences about the epidemic, Talia actually did something productive and brought medicine to the people in need, they sure will consider Talia their much needed hero.
She is much smarter than he anticipated. And she really has some concerns for the commonfolks too!
But his priority was different. For now, he needs to find the one behind the assassination attempt on her first. It seemed like the person who wants her dead can hide well more like a phantom. He might have orchestrated the killing of Cyrus by her hands too.
The Lockhart family has found a same man who was having a conversation with Camellia Langdon on the same day Cyrus died. That same man was pictured together with Olivia a couple of times. But no one could figure out who he is or where he can be found.
He won’t be in hiding for long and sooner or later, he will come out. It is mysterious though! That person hates Talia so much, he just wants her to be unhappy. Who is he? What is his deal with Talia?
"A little longer... Okay?"Arthur planted small kisses on her cheeks and slowly moved to her neck.
Meeting her and knowing she is hopeful, made him relieved and improved his hopes too.
" Did you miss me? "Talia asked once again. With his warm breath falling on her neck as his warm lips teasing her, she felt like floating.
" A lot! "Arthur looked straight at her and kissed her once more.
This kiss was filled with passion but it was not hurried as before. Like a foodie savouring his favourite dish, he savoured her lips.
His slight pecks in her lips gradually improved to deep kiss and soon his tongue found its way beneath her teeth and both of them were closely intertwined as their tongues danced together.
"I love you, Iris. Only you," he hissed as they were taking a breath and before she could reply, he had lifted her up holding her derriere and kissed her once more.
Talia wrapped her legs around his waist and with her arms wrapped around his shoulders and her back against the tree, she felt enveloped by him;although it was she who was holding him like a koala.
His broad chest, pressed against her soft mounds and at times she felt like she’d suffocate. She felt like she’d be merged with him by the way he was holding her close to him.
Talia felt like a piece of asteroid drifting along the space as she forgot how long they were kissing. She felt her energy bar has dropped to zero when he finally let go of her. Hie hair was a mess, her hair was a mess; she didn’t know how or when her bra clasp has been unbuckled and when she unbuttoned his shirt.
The coldness she felt sometime ago felt like a distant memory as she felt really warm now.
If they didn’t hear the sound of a twig snapping, they’d have continued kissing for longer. Talia knew although she couldn’t see Amy or Mr. Ed, doesn’t mean they aren’t watching over her. She felt a little embarrassed.
If they weren’t disturbed, they might have actually went farther than kissing right here in the midst of trees! How shameful!
She could hear noises of people leaving the hall. The wedding reception should have ended.
Talia fixed her clothes hurriedly while Arthur kept staring at her.
"Come on! Fix your clothes!" she hissed at him and he leaned with his arm above her head on the tree trunk.
With his bare chest in front of her, Talia couldn’t help but feel shy. His curly little chest hair tingled her nose and she wanted to sneeze.
"You fix it!" he grinned teasingly and Talia with a sigh, got him dressed properly and even fixed his hair. She didn’t want to keep arguing with him and waste time. Rebecca will come search for her soon.
Ah! How will I explain to her?
"Did you have dinner? Let me-"
"Iris, I can’t. I have to leave now," Arthur said holding her hand. "I should be in the Durleigh Airport the same time the jet lands there. I should leave now..." he hugged her. Ehr head was hung low and he didn’t know if she was crying, but he really cannot stay anymore.
He had flew commercial to be here early and one hour is all he could spare. After he got that bracelet from his brother, all he could thinks was meeting her and give it to her immediately. And he made efforts to be here and he felt tired like he was beaten by ten men, but he still was delighted.
I got to see her!
Talia understood it too. It is a great surprise that he was here!
"Be safe, Fred" Talia hugged Arthur back.
"Show me your hand..." he pulled her apart from him and looked at her with gentleness.
"Why?" she was confused, but she did what he asked of her anyway.
She felt him putting something on her hand and in the darkness she couldn’t see well, but she knew it was a bracelet.
"This... A gift?" Talia was overjoyed.
"My mum’s bracelet... She’d have loved you..." he kissed her forehead. He couldn’t get enough of her. She smelt so good!
Talia was so happy she couldn’t find words to say as a reply, "Fred...I’ll treasure this! I love you so much!" she hugged him once more. She didn’t know what else to say.
She knew how much his mother meant to him. For him to give her his mother’s jewellery... She could understand her place in his heart.
"I love you too, Iris!" he smiled, resting his chin on her head. She is enough. This woman is enough for him for the rest of his life.
"The next jewellery you’d get from me will be a ring! Be prepared," he kissed the top of her head.
He could feel her twitching a bit and he could only imagine her face.
"You should be keeping your proposal a surprise, dummy!" she said. But her heart was bubbling with joy.
"But you don’t like surprises..."
"Still, you shouldn’t have!"
"You still don’t know when or how I will propose. So it will still be a surprise. Isn’t that fine?"
"Yeah... I guess?" Talia looked at him. She knew her face would be burning red. But she wanted to look at him. She never gets tired of his handsome face.
"Don’t tell that repugnant woman I was here... Her hate mails are helping me to mislead," Arthur kissed her forehead.
"She’s not repugnant! She’s my friend!" Talia hit him playfully in the chest and he chucked slightly.
"Bye, my love!" he bent and kissed her lips. "Here’s your kiss. Don’t blame me for not kissing you goodbye again," he gave a mocking smile.
"Stupid!" Talia kicked him in the leg and he held his leg with his hands and hopped.
"Bye," Talia gave him a small peck and Arthur swooping her in, turned that to a long kiss.
"It’s getting late... I’ll leave..." Arthur left only at tee last second.
Talia watched his retreating back and placed her hand on her chest.
She felt blissful.
