Stand By Me Darling -
Chapter 137: A Long Kiss
Chapter 137: A Long Kiss
She held her hand out and the snowflakes fell on her hand and melted. She didn’t know why she had such a painful feeling in her heart, but somehow the coldness made her feel numb.
"Your Highness, you might get frostbite," Amy standing behind her called Talia and only then Talia came out of her trance.
She noticed water droplets in her hand and the snowflakes were melting much slower. She felt a sharp pain in her hands.
Amy passed her a mitten and Talia wore it with no objection. "Would you mind leaving me alone for a while?" Talia asked Turing to look at Amy.
"No, I can’t" Amy said firmly.
Talia could only sigh and walked in the front through the garden beside the Church. She was walking through a row of trees and the sun has already set. Although there were lights along the pathway, it still was dark.
The cold wind howled in her ears as if it was singing a melancholic tune. Hearing that tune of the wind that seemed to be searching for something, Talia felt empty for some reason she couldn’t understand.
Talia was almost fine till today and after attending the wedding, her heart became heavy.
What are you searching for, wind? Your lost love?
Ah! Now I understand!
I am missing my love; my Fred.
As Talia realised the bad feeling in her heart is her missing Fred, her eyes watered and tears rolled down on her cheeks. She wiped her tears immediately.
She heard a snapping noise from the side, behind the trees and startled, she turned to look for Amy.
Before she could turn entirely, she felt a warmth on her back, a strong grasp around her waist as a hand held her mouth shut. She tried to struggle out of the grip, but failed.
He was too strong!
That person who was gripping her effortlessly, dragged her out of the pathway and inside the rows of trees.
Talia was scared and tried to struggle out, but failed. She was more stunned to see Amy who was following her not there too.
Help! Someone help!
She used all her strength to shout but she couldn’t even make a peep.
What is going to happen?
Talia was frightened. Her shoes made a trail as she was dragged on the snow, but fresh snow was falling from above. Soon her trail will be erased by the snow.
Is this the end?
Talia closed her eyes as she could hear her own heart beating erratically. It felt like she’d burst open an artery or something in her chest because of the fright.
The hand over her mouth kept pressed hard and along with the smell of leather, Talia could sense something familiar.
But who could this be?
After getting dragged for a few more steps, she felt her back getting pressed against a hoarse, uneven surface; it probably is a tree trunk.
’Am I going to get executed with a bullet through my brain?’
A cold gust of wind swept past her, ruffling her hair and Talia felt so numb she couldn’t even feel the tickling sensation of her hair on her cheeks.
Talia felt her entire energy getting drained out and as her legs gave up struggling, she gave up her hope that she’d be rescued too.
"Why are you... Iris? It’s me..."
That familiar voice, now spoken in a hushed manner made Talia’s heart beating erratically, skip a beat.
"Oh my... You’re pale... Did I frighten you?"
Talia opened her eyes and everything looked blurry as she had shut her eyes tightly. Also, in the deeper part of the garden, away from the pathway, the lighting wasn’t that good.
In front of her was a hooded figure and with the faux fur edging along the hood, she couldn’t clearly see the face. But she could feel it really was her Fred.
She saw him removing the leather gloves he was wearing and tried to hold her cheeks.
"You manky wanker!!"
Talia used all her strength to push him away. Her chest heaved up and down and she felt like her throat was getting sliced by the cold air getting in her lungs. "You gave me a heart attack! I almost-"
"Hush! Shh!" Arthur placed his warm hand on her mouth once again. "Don’t shout. No one knows I’m here," he hissed and pushed her on the trunk of the tree once again as he looked around to see if someone was around.
Trapped between the tree and his strong arms, Talia felt his warm breath on her and a wave of warmth engulfed her.
Oddly she remembered that day she crossed the creek, when she was escaping from the men sent to kill her. She felt the same warmth that day too.
It is weird, but now it feels so intense.
"Is it really you?" Talia removed the hood and placed her hand on his cheek. She couldn’t feel his warmth and so she hurriedly removed her gloves and stuck them in her pockets.
"It is you!" she didn’t know why she felt like crying. Her throat felt heavy and she spoke in a very low voice and she knew her voice became low not only because he wanted their meeting to be secretive but also because she felt so emotional.
I was missing him and here he is in front of me...
She checked his schedule and he is supposed to be on his way here for the signing of the papers for the start of the ship building company in the East Coast. He should be mid-air now. How is he here already in the West?
Arthur’s held her hand holding his cheek and looked at her deeply. In that darkness, he couldn’t see much, but he could feel she is happy; too happy she wants to cry.
He was happy too. He was happy he made this effort to see her.
"I thought you’d be on your way..." Talia stood on her tiptoes and pressed her forehead over his wrapping her other arm around his shoulder. He was so warm and she was happy she could feel him closer to her.
"Someone is unlawfully using my account!" Arthur whispered playfully in her ears. Feeling her soft skin on his cheek, he let out a deep breath and kissed the palm of her hand that was inside his hand. Her hands are so small compared to his. Was this the case always?
" Change the password then, " Talia smiled playfully and even though she couldn’t see his face, she could sense him getting more warmer.
"Hmm, no need," he leaned towards her and Talia could hear his breath as he was breathing out from his mouth. The mild scent of cigar and his manly scent that had a musky tone to it. The scent she really loved.
" Fred, I missed you so much," Talia felt the warmth in her palm left by the little kiss from Fred, spread all over her body and reached her toes as his scent assailed her.
Both of them were standing so close with each other that both of their breaths intertwined. There was a pocket of warm air around them generated by the intimate distance between them. For them who were apart from each other for more than a month, that warmth was more than welcoming.
Arthur, maybe because he was accustomed to the darkness, now could see the outline of her eyes that were staring eight at him. There was a slight blush in her cheeks which he could discern.
She misses me...
Arthur hearing what she said felt his heart bubbling with passion. The little flame of desire for her, that always kept burning in his heart, became a raging fire as she threw a can of accelerant.
I missed you too,my sweet Iris; a lot!
You’re the same as before and I... I feel guilty, my love!
"Did you-"
Before Talia could finish asking the question, she felt her feet leaving the ground as a strong arm wrapped around her waist and lifted her. Reflexively she tightened the grip on his shoulder and her face naturally got closer to his.
Before she could understand what was going on, she felt her lips getting covered. It was a hurried, passionate kiss where his teeth clashed with hers and it was rough as his hands wrapped closely around her and she felt hard to breath.
She knew this kiss... He used to kiss this way in the past too...back then, they didn’t say what they felt and usually expressed their feelings with touches. But things are different now, isn’t it?
"Fred... Fred..." she turned her face away and tried to slow him down. But he had no intention of slowing down and was kissing her earlobe. Talia almost lost herself in his kisses.
But from his kisses she could conclude that he has something bothering him.
"Say it, Fred... Tell me what you feel, " she said and he stopped kissing.
In the past they couldn’t tell each other what they felt. But now they can!
Arthur looked at her in the eye. His hand around her waist gently slid down to her lower back and pulled her closer to him.
