SSS-Ranked Demon Hunter: The Prodigy
Chapter 52: The King of Chaos

Chapter 52: The King of Chaos

The clash began with Jisun’s sudden lunge.

In the blink of an eye, his spears slashed forward— But Yeonho was already gone.

He had vanished, as if his entire body had dissolved into thin air. That’s how fast his enemy was.

Without missing a beat, Jisun launched another strike. This time, Yeonho simply dodged. Effortlessly.

That’s when Jisun realized—Something’s wrong. He swung again, spinning in place, but Yeonho only toyed with him.

"No..." Jisun thought grimly. "This isn’t right. When I fought Death Icon, I could follow his movements. But now... I can’t sense him at all!"

Driven by fury and confusion, Jisun launched into a ferocious assault of crushing blows.Yeonho merely turned his back and fled—mocking him.

"When he turns away, I can see his footsteps clearly... There’s no mistake. This demon must be able to relocate. But how?"

Consumed by thought, Jisun forgot one crucial fact: he was still on the battlefield.

Then came a fist.

Yeonho’s punch struck his torso like a meteor and hurled him into a building. The impact flung Jisun across to the other side.

Just before hitting the ground, Jisun summoned Kuroen. Armor wrapped around his body—covering him completely.

But Yeonho leapt into the sky and, in a flash, was upon him again. A brutal strike to the face. His fist pierced through Jisun’s helmet.

The hunter’s body skid across the dirt like a lifeless doll.

"How is he this fast?"

Groaning, Jisun rose. He fused his twin spears into a single, razor-sharp pike. Taking a stance, he charged at Yeonho with blinding speed.

The demon dodged with ease, a wicked grin playing on his lips.

And then, time slowed—for Jisun alone. His thoughts raced so fast, the world seemed frozen.

In a heartbeat, he summoned both spears again— And thrust them straight into Yeonho.

0.20 seconds. That’s all it took.

But then... he stopped feeling them pierce flesh.

How? He had hit him. He was sure of it.

Before he could process what happened, Yeonho was already behind him—launching a brutal kick.

A shockwave erupted.

The very earth beneath them cracked. The blow shattered Jisun’s cuirass and sent him flying again, faster than before.

The demon gave chase. Every step he took cracked the ground and kicked up dust.

Jisun slammed into buildings, poles, asphalt, yet nothing slowed his momentum.

Fighting nearby, Sora saw his broken body fly past her in the blink of an eye. There was no expression left on her face.

Yeonho caught up. He clenched his fists and brought them crashing down.

Kuroen shattered. Jisun lay exposed. Defenseless.

Sora, who had been pursuing Yeonho, tried to strike him from behind. But before she even finished her swing—

She was flung back by an incomprehensible speed.

"Begone."

The blow was undetectable. Yeonho hadn’t even turned, he struck her while facing forward.

Jisun, barely clinging to life, finally understood the enemy’s trick.

From the corner of his eye, he noticed blood dripping from Yeonho’s hand. He’d seen it before... but dismissed it as a result of fighting bare-handed.

"I have to move..." he whispered in his mind, wracked with pain. "Get up, you fool... Get up! Just a little more, and we can win this... I can’t give up here!"

His hand trembled, barely lifting. His hips were shattered, legs unresponsive.

The hardest thing now—was simply to stand.

Then Minho charged in. The only one still standing.

Wielding twin axes, his body was clad in blood-forged armor. A mad unstoppable berserker.

This time, Yeonho attacked first. But to his surprise, his punch didn’t break through Minho’s armor.

Minho gritted his teeth, roaring as he swung wildly. Yeonho dodged and countered, but avoided using his blistering speed.

Then it happened.

Minho kicked the demon, and while Yeonho dodged, he didn’t anticipate the sideways cleave of Minho’s greataxes.

The blades sank deep into Yeonho’s body.

In that instant, the demon vanished—

And reappeared back where he had once stood, before Jisun.

And at that time, Jisun, barely able to stand on his feet, drove his long pike straight into Yonho’s chest.

"W-What?!" the demon gasped, caught completely off guard.

He turned his head and met Jisun’s blazing dark eyes.

"But how are you standing...?"

Blood poured from Yeonho’s lips. The spear had pierced his heart.

He felt the pressure building—Minho was already mid-leap, bringing his axes down from the front.

Once again, Yeonho relocated. Back to where he had clashed with Minho.

"Wh-what the?!" Minho halted, nearly striking his ally. Jisun collapsed against him.

Barely breathing, he rasped:

"I’ve figured out the essence of your power, Yeonho."

Yeonho could barely stand too. His pierced heart left him on the brink of death.

"You’re turning your entire body into droplets of blood... left behind in your footsteps. When you wounded your hand during the fight, you created the path. That’s how you’re relocating."

"How did you figure that out?" the demon croaked.

"Even if a drop of blood falls with each step, you still chose the spot farthest from Minho... near me. Lee Kihyun manipulated his blood too, but to summon wings. That made me realize—those with demon blood each interact with it differently."

Minho looked at him, stunned:

"You’re serious...?"

"Is it true?" Jisun asked, locking eyes with the enemy.

Yeonho said nothing.

"I see... So I was right. Demon blood... it’s no blessing at all."

"It won’t help you, human. You’ve already lost this battle."

"Really?" Jisun smirked. "I stabbed your heart. I’ll take you with me. You’ll be dead in ten seconds."

Yeonho let out a soft laugh.

"Are you sure?"

His glowing emerald eyes scanned the two hunters with disdain.

"Unfortunate for you—my consciousness exists throughout my entire body."

Jisun was stunned. The logic was flawless—if Yeonho could control his blood, why not his entire nervous system?

But was he bluffing?

Even after ten long seconds... Yeonho did not fall.

And then... Footsteps echoed nearby.

They turned... to see the Crimson Reaper and a silver-haired boy approaching.

Seojun was in human form, wearing the armor of a fallen hunter.

"We’ve taken care of the small fry," Seojun said with hands in his pockets. "Only the S-rank girl wasn’t found."

Yeonho nodded.

"No way..." Minho was shaken. "If Death Icon is here, then that means Chanwook..."

Far down a dark alley, Chanwook’s lifeless body lay sprawled, drenched in blood, his eyes glazed over.

Nothing could save him now.

Behind Seojun, a swarm of demons—feral and intelligent alike—emerged. Hundreds surrounded him.

There was no escape.

It was over.

So thought Jisun, his head drooping. His mind slipped into fog, a ringing in his ears fading into silence...

Until two silhouettes arrived at the entrance.

A girl in a hunter’s suit, with short, bright hair. And a boy with tousled brown locks and no armor.

It was me and Yeonghee.

"Damn you, Kihyun," Seojun scoffed, preparing to transform again.

Seeing Jisun on death’s door, I ran out with a scream. My body flared with the dark aura of Kuroen. A massive Swordspear materialized in my hand—its unmistakable form stunned the leader of Umbra.

Minho’s eyes widened at my arrival. Then turned to the girl. Her arms had transformed into enormous blades, sharp enough to slice through trees.

"Kihyun and... the director’s daughter?!"

As I rushed to my comrades, my eyes locked onto the leader. And I froze.

That posture...

Those black strands of hair... pale skin...

That face—I’d recognize it even a hundred years from now.

No... It can’t be... My father?

Our stunned gazes met.

Yes.

It was definitely him.

But... those eyes... My father didn’t have eyes like that. What color were they, really?

"That’s not Lee Yeonho," Yeonghee declared, grabbing my trembling hand. "That’s an imposter, who dares tarnish the legacy of humanity’s greatest hunter!"

Her disgust twisted the demon’s expression.

Somehow, her presence gave me strength.

"Whoever you are," she continued, "you won’t deceive us."

"Well, well... Kang Yeonghee herself. You’ve grown into such a brave, beautiful woman."

"Careful, Kihyun," she whispered, squeezing my hand. "He’s incredibly strong... I can feel it."

I didn’t know what to do. If the man before me was truly my father... I couldn’t raise a weapon against him.

And he knew it—he saw it in my eyes. Lee Yeonho smirked darkly.

Suddenly—

Glass shattered above.

A woman leaned out from a broken window of the Association building, shouting:

"Hunters! Protect Mr. Jisun at all costs! Don’t let the enemy near him—he must not die!Everyone who can hear me—TO BATTLE!!"

It was Sashi Heiwa.

And at her command, from every alley, the thunder of marching feet shook the ground.

Reinforcements were coming—hundreds of hunters, armed to the teeth, surged forward!

One of them roared:

"CHARGE!!"

And the rest followed, a thunderous chorus of war.

All our enemies stood stunned.

"But... how?!" Altair exclaimed, wide-eyed. "The military... the garrison... they’re all here! Weren’t they supposed to be stationed at the border?!"

Demons scrambled to form defensive positions, but our troops surged forward like an unstoppable tide, trampling everything in their path.

That sheer mass alone was enough to tear through their ranks like paper.

Watching the relentless wave of reinforcements from above, Sashi allowed herself a small, knowing smile.

Mere moments earlier, acting on a gut feeling, she had issued an order for every unit stationed in the Green Zone to regroup and mobilize toward the battlefield. Even the Director himself had granted her the go-ahead.

That woman had never once miscalculated.

Standing beside her, Kang Su-won could barely hide his astonishment. The accuracy of her intuition was nothing short of prophetic.

"Well, I’ll be damned," he muttered, eyes still locked on the battlefield below, looking at the strategist beside him with new respect.

"This isn’t the end, Mr. Su-won," she said calmly, her gaze steady. "Far from it. I can feel it... something else is coming."

Her voice dropped lower, but there was steel in her words.

"So then—what will you do now, self-proclaimed Lee Yeonho, the King of Chaos... What will your next move be in the eye of the storm?"
