Chapter 159: CH 159: The leader?

Dave stood tall, his eyes locked on the three guards as they transformed into massive beasts. Compared to the majestic creature beneath him, the guards’ beasts seemed almost diminutive. Dave’s voice boomed through the air, his words carrying a sense of authority. "What are you doing? Are you trying to fight me again?" he thundered, his gaze piercing the guards.

The three guards exchanged uncertain glances, their eyes flicking between Dave and each other. What did he mean by his words? Had they clashed before? The guards’ confusion was palpable, their minds racing with questions. But as they looked at Dave, they saw only determination and a hint of frustration.

The lead guard, a towering beast with razor-sharp claws, let out a deep growl. The sound was almost humanoid, yet feral, a strange blend of beast and man. "No matter what you say, we’re not letting you in," the guard snarled, its voice sounding like thunder. "You don’t belong here!"

Meanwhile, one of the guards standing beside the lead guard had started whispering to the rest, his voice was laced with doubt as he turned to them. "Are you sure this is right?" he asked, his eyes darting towards the group before them. "We’re clearly outmatched by these people. Do you think we’ll be able to take them all out?"

His companion’s expression turned resolute, a determined glint in his eye. "We have no choice," he replied with a firm voice. "Don’t be taken back by their huge number. Ken is already gone to inform those inside. They’ll bring reinforcement. All we have to do is hold these people back till they arrive, we can do that much as guards, right?"

A hint of excitement crept into his voice as he continued, "What do you think will happen if our leader hears about our bravery? How we protected the faction from intruders? Especially these ones who looked like they could swallow us whole. We’ll be promoted from guards to high-ranking members and also be rewarded dearly!" He exclaimed silently.

The guard’s words painted a vivid picture in their minds, and the other guards began to nod in agreement. But one of them hesitated, his brow furrowed in concern. "But the leader is not here yet," he said, his voice uncertain. The first guard’s smile grew wider.

"Yes, but Jackie told us to watch out for him," he said. "He said he might arrive anytime soon. Who knows, he could even be watching us right now. He might even join in the fight and protect us. That might even bring us closer to the leader." The guards’ imaginations ran wild, envisioning the rewards and privileges that awaited them.

With newfound determination, the three guards charged towards Dave, their fangs bared and their eyes blazing with a fierce intensity. The air was filled with the sound of pounding paws and snarling growls as they attacked, their movements swift and deadly.

Dave only just stood tall, his eyes locked on the charging guards before him, he was quite unshaken and just watch them display their different dramas before him.

Immediately, as they got closer to Dave, their fangs ready to crush their opponents, the beast beneath Dave had suddenly let out a thunderous roar. The sound was deafening, as the guards instantly froze, their movements halting abruptly as they crouched low to the ground.

Fear could be seen etched on their faces as the hairs of their body stood tall. The beast’s roar seemed to have shaken the very foundations of the earth, and the guards’ own beasts self cowered in response.

The guards’ beasts who were basic tier level, were no match for Dave’s majestic mount, an intermediate tier beast of immense power. A single roar from Dave’s beast was enough to send the guards’ beasts into a panic, and almost immediately, their transformation had begin to unravel, ending abruptly without them even willing it to.

Dave’s voice echoed through the silence, his words dripping with authority. "I said, are you really going to go against me?"

The three guards stood frozen, their eyes wide with fear, unable to speak. They seemed rooted to the spot, their bodies trembling with a mix of fear and awe.

Just then, Jackie and a group of people emerged from the distance, their figures growing larger as they approached. The guards’ eyes lit up with recognition, and they stumbled towards Jackie, with their movements frantic. "That’s him, that’s him! That’s the enemy! He’s so strong!" they exclaimed, their voices shrill with excitement.

Jackie’s expression remained calm, but he pushed the guards gently, causing them to stumble and fall to their knees. "Of course he’ll be strong," he said, his voice matter-of-fact. "He’s our leader!"

A man standing beside Jackie spoke up, his voice ringing out across the landscape. "Everyone, bow to the leader!"

In unison, the members of the merger faction present had started going down on their heads, as they bowed before Dave, their voices echoing through the air. "We welcome the leader!" they said, their words filled with reverence and respect.

"The leader?" One of the guards said.

They could see everyone bowing down to Dave, but they couldn’t understand what was going on, isn’t he the enemy? Why was everyone bowing to him? They all mentioned the leader, Is the leader suppose to be riding on a beast? But no one told them that! They said he’ll come alone, and although he might look young, he was a very powerful person. They even described his looks to them.

When they tried to recall the descriptions given to them and the man before them, they had immediately realized that it was the same person. And realizing their mistake, they had immediately bowed their heads.

"Fuck, we’re doomed!"
