Chapter 41: Everyone’s Saviour

"Don’t look at me like that. Grab a sword and kill one of these bummers," Rosa said as she dropped a sword at Leo’s feet and ran with the other sword towards Hunter’s corner where he was fighting two Mecha-men alone.

Leo didn’t think he needed the sword but he dragged it towards the other end of the corridor where Omal was. Along the way, he gave a playful kick to the bubble that still trapped the Cyborg in there, it bounced away to a side while the Cyborg struggled to bust free. "Don’t struggle," Leo said.

"Mr. Omal. You might need this," Leo shouted as soon as he got close. He tossed the beast sword at the giant teacher. Omal bent down instantly to grab the sword, as a result, the mecha-man saw an opening. It raised its sword and gave a downward slash, but Leo was quick to come to Omal’s rescue.

He pushed the button of the device once, twice and at the third time, the mecha-man flew right in the air and crashed heavily against the wall. Leo could see that this mecha-man was indeed stronger that the one he fought. "Thanks boy," Omal was panting. "A weapon from the Armorra beast core... Good for attack and defense. I’ll surely make good use of it."

The mecha-man rose again, shocked that it has just received the first blow of the night that knocked it away. Ignoring Omal, the mecha-man turned to Leo’s side and its visors glowed red in anger. Leo was ready with Loca’s pen when he saw that he was now the target. But as soon as the mecha-man took the first step towards Leo, a side slash from Omal stopped its advance. Sparks flew everywhere as the sword and the steel armour connected.

"Don’t ignore me, you dimwit. Come get a taste of what you served me!" Omal yelled as he slashed at the mecha-man’s back again. "Since my Earth quirk won’t work against you, won’t you like to appreciate my sword skills? Come get me, you scum!"

The mecha-man turned furiously and faced Omal. And they continued their fight. "Stay with me boy. When I say ’now’ you should push that button like you did before," Omal commanded.

Leo knew Omal must have known about the device because Hunter told them. So, there was no reason to hide it any longer. However, as the fight continued, Leo saw Greg’s body still on the floor, soaked in blood. The man appeared dead.

Leo went over to Greg and dragged him away from the fight. He bent over the body and observed if the man was breathing. He was still breathing but it was slow and painful. Leo saw the injury he had suffered against the mecha-man. It was a sword wound that went straight into the left side of his belly, and the blood seeping out was not ready to stop until it’s drained.

Leo didn’t know this teacher at all, but he feared for him. He has a calm face and a brown hair with tufts that fell to his face. "He must really be weaker than the others," Leo observed.

Leo was thinking of what he could do to help the dying man when he heard Omal’s yell. "Now!"

Leo instantly sprang up and moved closer to the fight. Immediately, he pushed the button that hit the mecha-man in its upper arm. The sword it was holding flew away into the air but was caught with the other hand before it dropped. Leo was amazed at how skilled this one was.

Leo pushed the button again, and again, and again, and again until the mecha-man was thrown back. "Don’t slack next time, boy," Omal said before dashing straight at the mecha-man who was struggling to get up.

Omal turned the sword skillfully in his hands before landing a solid strike to the mecha-man’s left side of the head. The clash sent loud echoes throughout the corridor and Leo expected the mecha-man to be defeated now but it was still trying to stand.

"Hit it at the right side. That’s where the human part is," Leo said.

"Attaboy," Omal said, flicked his sword, knocked the mecha-man’s sword to one side with his sword and landed another heavy blow to the right side of its head like Leo suggested. The mecha-man stopped struggling to get up instantly and grabbed its head with both hands as if it was suffering from some serious headache.

"Right. Die!" Omal screamed as he put his entire strength into his final attack and landed another blow straight into the back of the mecha-man’s head. The strength of the attack was so great that the steel helmet gave way and Omal’s beast weapon sunk deep into the mecha-man’s human-robot skull.

Panting and sweating profusely, Omal asked, "how did you know, boy?"

"I already defeated one," Leo said pointing to the Cyborg trapped in the bubble at the middle of the hallway.

"You’re amazing. Thanks for the help. And how did you get this sword?"

"From her," Leo pointed to the other side of the corridor where Hunter and Rosa were now busy fighting two Mecha-men.

"What? Did she also follow Hunter here for the meeting?" Omal asked, confused. From what he knew, Leo was the only one Hunter promised to bring. Why then is a girl who appeared to be very skilled with her quirk, here?

Leo didn’t know what to say, as he is trying to get Rosa out of trouble too. Even he didn’t know how or why she was here, but at least her presence made things easier for them. So, Leo decided to change the topic to a more pressing one.

"Look, Mr. Greg is losing too much blood."

As if awakened from slumber, Omal suddenly remembered his partner. With huge strides, he got to Greg’s side and placed his thick hands over the wound.

"Go into that office, search in the drawer by the table and grab a white box that has a plus sign in red for me."

"Do you mean a first-aid box?" Leo asked. He didn’t know why Omal was explaining it that way as if he was a toddler.

"Yes, I mean the freaking first aid box, if that’s what you still call it! Go now!"

Leo jumped into the office again. The light has been switched off again, obviously by Lam. He went over to the light switch and pressed the button. The light went up and he saw Lam still there, sitting on the table with his head bowed.

Leo didn’t say anything to him because he was still mad at him. So, he continued his search for the first-aid box. After turning the large table, he finally saw the drawer, grabbed the handle and turned straight for the door.

"Is the fight ended?" Lam asked.

Leo looked back but acted as if he didn’t hear him. He went out with a frown and slammed the door loudly behind him.

He rushed to Omal and placed the box by his side. Omal broke open the lid with his fist and out came a little white robot with the red plus sign on the chest. As soon as the robot spotted Greg’s wound, it walked straight towards it and started working. Leo watched while the robot sterilized the wound with a liquid in one of its compartment, and later emerged with a needle. Slowly, it began to stitch Greg’s wound.

"This will only stop the bleeding and give Greg more time. We need a proper healer," Omal explained.

But as Omal was talking, Leo’s eyes was glued to the fight that was still ongoing with Rosa and Hunter against the Mecha-men. Rosa has been knocked down by one of the Mecha-men and it was advancing straight at her.

Seeing the danger that Rosa in, he ran straight to the other end of the corridor. He saw that Rosa was using her telekinesis quirk to control the beast sword which was delaying the mecha-man’s advances but there was little she could do because she was lying on the floor after she fell, and the point of the sword wasn’t piercing the steel armour, but the man was till coming.

Leo picked up speed, more furious than ever.

He got close enough, jumped up and aimed at the head of the mecha-man who was now so close and was about to pierce Rosa with the sword.

"If I attack the body, he might not be affected and he’ll kill her. If I aim for the head and I miss, she’ll die... If I don’t do anything, she’ll die. Head it is!" Leo thought.

"Die!" Leo yelled as he pushed the button on the device

The laser flew out, whooshing through the air at the unsuspecting Mecha-man. Leo sent another one just in case the first didn’t hit and there was no time to save Rosa.

But as he wished, the first laser attack hit the mecha-man square in the side of the head as soon as he raised his sword to attack Rosa. The sudden impact made the mecha-man stagger sideways, so the second laser didn’t hit.

Leo didn’t stop advancing. He stopped in front of Rosa and continued throwing the laser beams at the mecha-man, aiming for the head when possible and the body when not. Finally, he got a clear shot of the head and pressed the button down very hard without releasing his finger.

The blue energy shot out in a continuous flow hitting the mecha-man nonstop and destroying the steel helmet, till the leather mask behind was now visible. But Leo wasn’t stopping with the attack.

{Power is running low. Device needs to be charged} the small voice alerted him. But he didn’t stop pushing the button.

"Die! Die! Die!" he screamed.

The Cyborg’s face was now clearly visible but Leo didn’t stop until the head was completely ruined and bashed in and the battery of the device was completely low.

The Cyborg was dead and a grotesque face looked up at them. Black blood that looked like overused oil seeped out of the ruined face. The metal part of the face was badly dented and the red eyes was completely destroyed also.

Hunter has finally destroyed his own opponent too.

Everybody was staring at Leo after he stopped the attack. It was clear that the Cyborg was dead a while ago, but everyone wondered why Leo didn’t stop the attack until the head was completely ruined.

The hallway grew silent. The atmosphere was tense. Everyone was worried for Leo, for only a lunatic would behave that way. Even Rosa was a little concerned though she snapped out of it quickly. She was happy that Leo was there for her or she would have been the one with the smashed head now.

"Thank you," she said quietly as she rose.

Hunter’s voice boomed. "We have defeated the undefeatable, quite okay. Easy-Peasy, but we have to find a way to clean up all these mess. The sun will soon be up."
