Chapter 86: Killing The Six Challengers, Main Mission 5 Is Completed

When Ainsworth received that notification and recycle option from the Voice of The World, he didn’t immediately press the [Yes] button.

Instead, he commanded his High Priest to petrify Fire Knight. After Fire Knight was petrified, Ainsworth now had time to test the props out.

The Voice of The World wasn’t lying when it mentioned that Awakeners couldn’t use most props and only challengers from the Main God Space could use them.

However, Ainsworth wasn’t the average awakener. He remembered that his SSS-rank Freedom Freelancer’s class traits had the ability to use items and equipment regardless of restrictions as long as the restrictions didn’t exceed his limits by a huge gap.

’Most of the one-time use props had already been used by Fire Knight and his challenger team. After all, their life was literally in grave danger when they were fighting against the High Priests so they used all the trump cards they had without minding the cost.’

’Even the props Fire Knight had given out were only around six and they were all props that were either his weapon, equipment, or accessory.’

Ainsworth didn’t find anything useful from Fire Knight’s props but he knew that Fire Knight wasn’t hiding the good stuff.

He had ensured that Fire Knight didn’t lie to him and he told everything he knew and gave everything he had.

Most accessories were at D-rank which was useless to him. Even the best prop that Fire Knight had, his magical knight sword weapon, was only at C-rank.

’It seems I overestimate the wealth of these challengers. Although, according to Fire Knight, he had only been in less than twenty Otherworlds so his wealth wasn’t the best among challengers of the same rank.’

’And besides, the props he had were those that he could afford and use in his rank. These challengers might be an overpowered opponent for Awakeners in their first Otherworld Mission, but they aren’t that impressive if you think about it.’

’After all, Awakeners who had taken less than twenty Otherworld Missions would be equal or stronger than them. They merely had an advantage against Awakeners who were just taking their first Otherworld Mission like Rian, Dante, and I but that’s assuming I didn’t have my choice system.’

’Fortunately, my growth speed has exceeded the average genius Awakeners. Otherwise, I would have died when confronting these challengers if I didn’t have the choice rewards boosting my growth speed.’

Ainsworth dared to choose the sixth difficulty due to the choice rewards he received, giving him confidence and power to deal with unknown threats like these challengers from the Main God Space.

Otherwise, if he didn’t have a system, he would have only chosen Hell Difficulty for his first Otherworld Mission.

Holding Fire Knight’s magic flame knight sword, Ainsworth brandished it, causing orange-colored magic flames to form a sword wave in front of him.

’As I have expected, I can indeed use the challenger’s props. So if I ever obtain a powerful prop from those challengers, I can use them for myself rather than let the Earth Will recycle it into world origin.’

After testing out Fire Knight’s magic flame knight sword, Ainsworth wasn’t interested in it since it wasn’t a kitchen knife.

His swordsmanship might not be that bad, but it wasn’t that good either. However, due to the God-Level Cooking talent, his knife and cutting techniques were at the god-level.

Of course, he couldn’t use god-level knife techniques due to lack of power but he could use knife techniques that were within his limits.

Knowing that knives were much more suitable for him, Ainsworth stored all of Fire Knight’s props in his system inventory including the knight sword.

Since he didn’t have any suitable weapon yet, he could make do with Formless Sharp Blades (SSS).

After storing all the props in his system inventory, Ainsworth decided to press the [No] button. He declined the Voice of The World’s offer to recycle the props.

’Although these props seemed to be useless, they still give some minor boosts if I ever need to equip them. I can still recycle all the props I have when the Otherworld Mission is completed.’

’I don’t know if there is a challenger or native stronger than me in the Zombie Apocalypse World. Since I haven’t filled up all my armory and accessories, these props can still fill those up even if the boosts they give aren’t that high. It’s better than having none at all.’

With the principle of saving these props if he ever needed them, Ainsworth didn’t recycle them yet.

Afterward, he spent the next hour interrogating the rest of the challengers.

He asked the same questions he had asked Fire Knight to each of them and he only interrogated them one by one. He also made it seem that they were the first challenger he interrogated so that he would be able to catch any flaws if they ever wanted to attempt to fool him.

So far, except for Ninja Guy who he had tortured until Ninja Guy gave all the information and props he had, the rest of the challengers folded even before he tortured them.

From what he knew, despite Ninja Guy being slightly a newcomer compared to the rest of the challengers in Fire Knight’s team, Ninja Guy’s training as a ninja had heavily influenced him.

Because of that, he had higher willpower and resistance to interrogations and torture since it wasn’t the first time he encountered such a situation.

After he obtained all the information and props he needed, Ainsworth stored all of the props in his system inventory.

’I don’t know how many Awakener Points I’ll get for these props. Nevertheless, it should be quite a good amount.’

Awakener Points were the currency used to purchase items in the Awakener Shop which was managed by the Earth Will. Awakener Points were world origin that were converted into the Earth Awakener’s own currency.

Since props were made by the Main God Space using world origin, the Earth Will could recycle those props into world origin and then give that world origin to Awakeners in the form of Awakener Points.

If Awakeners didn’t want to receive Awakener Points, they could choose to either let the Earth Will transform the props into awakener items but with an additional cost. Or, they could receive the world origin without it being converted into Awakener Points.

Those higher-rank Awakeners needed world origin to improve their power or something. Ainsworth wasn’t completely sure as although he had read some of the books in Edenbridge High’s library, he hadn’t read all of them.

After all, there were plenty of books there and some books required higher authority to access. Even with his privilege as a top student, his lack of awakener rank at that time had prevented him from accessing that awakener-only private information.

With all the props and information he collected from those six challengers, Ainsworth no longer needed them so removed their petrification one by one and killed them in the order he nullified their petrification.

Having six corpses of those challengers, Ainsworth submitted it to the Voice of The World and commanded his High Priests to clean up the room.

After he submitted those corpses, he heard a notification sound in his mind.

-Ding!

[If Eleutheron Eclipse has awakener points, 100 awakener points can be used to increase the duration of stay in this world for one month. It can be extended indefinitely but at certain time frames like 1 year, 10 years, 100 years, etc., the awakener points needed to extend the stay will increase incrementally.]

When Ainsworth received that message from the Voice of The World, Ainsworth couldn’t help but ask a question, "Why do we need to spend awakener points to increase the duration of our stay in the Otherworld?"

Since Eleutheron Eclipse had already obtained the interest of the Earth Will and such a question was something that Ainsworth was qualified to know, the Voice of The World answered:

[Awakeners can choose to stay in the Otherworld for as long as they want if they willingly give up their qualifications and status as an Awakener. That way, Awakeners can stay in the Otherworld indefinitely.]

[The awakener points are needed to maintain the connection between the Otherworld and Earth. It is also used to ensure that no matter how much time you spend in the Otherworld, only a week will pass after you return to Earth. Furthermore, your lifespan will not be affected while staying in the Otherworld during an Otherworld Mission.]

[So, the longer you stay in the Otherworld, the more world origin is needed to maintain the connection. Of course, if you can travel the multiverse and return to Earth by yourself, you can choose to let the Earth Will terminate the connection so you won’t have to spend awakener points to maintain the connection.]
