SSS Class Awakening: Start With A God-Level Choice System -
Chapter 72: Surpassing The Otherworld Team Member Limit
Chapter 72: Surpassing The Otherworld Team Member Limit
Ainsworth had realized that since his friends and acquaintances’ backgrounds were improved while only his was nerfed, it was within his interest to make use of their background to supplement his own.
It was no exaggeration to say that both Rian and Dante were his sworn brothers so as long as it wasn’t too big of a favor that their family elders would disagree to it, Ainsworth could make use of their background as if it was his own.
So, to compensate Rian and Dante and to further strengthen his bond with them, Ainsworth didn’t mind carrying them in Otherworld Missions as the stronger they became, the more it would benefit him.
’Normally, an otherworld team could only have one to five awakeners in their team as more than that would drastically increase the difficulty of the Otherworld Mission.’
’It wasn’t fully disclosed why such a phenomenon occurred but Otherworld Missions with more than five awakeners participating had yielded a failure rate of 100%. It’s not necessarily a death rate as there were exceptions like those who carried SSS-rank Abandon Mission Cards with them.’
’Nevertheless, it has been common sense among awakeners on Earth to only have a five-member otherworld team when participating in Otherworld Missions. That makes me wonder whether I can have more than five members in my otherworld team without causing that phenomenon of 100% failure rate to trigger.’
’It’s quite plausible as I have already proven that with my SSS-rank Freedom Freelancer’s class traits, I can access the Unknown Difficulty. One of my class traits can bypass minor rules and laws so it’s possible for me to have more than five members in my team.’
’The only problem left is determining how many team members I can recruit to my otherworld team without reaching the extended limit.’
Despite that problem, Ainsworth felt that he could either ask the Voice of The World about it or his God-Level Choice System.
Although the Voice of The World didn’t know about his God-Level Choice System, it still had information about his class, class traits, and whatever power he had as an Awakener.
Furthermore, it was impossible for it to not know about him having access to a sixth difficulty in his first Otherworld Mission. So, Ainsworth had a hunch that the Voice of The World would likely know the limit of members he could recruit in his next otherworld team.
As a decisive person, once he made up his mind, Ainsworth immediately posed that question to the Voice of The World.
After asking that question, it didn’t take that long for the Voice of The World to respond.
[Using your SSS-rank Freedom Freelancer’s class trait, you can recruit up to 8 members to join your otherworld team in the next Otherworld Mission.]
Receiving that simple answer from the Voice of The World, Ainsworth couldn’t help but ask, "Why is there a limit for team member count? Why is it that those who participated in the Otherworld Mission with more than five team members always ended up in failure?"
Waiting for the Voice of The World’s response, Ainsworth was soon disappointed after hearing it simply state:
[Insufficient authority.]
Knowing that the Voice of The World wouldn’t answer no matter how he would pester it, Ainsworth changed his question and inquired, "Then how can I increase the maximum member count of my otherworld team?"
[You can increase it using two methods. The first method is to increase your power drastically. I can’t give you an estimate on which power level you’d need to achieve to get a 9 maximum member count but you can keep asking as I’ll check whenever you ask.]
[As for the second method, you can increase your class rank as that will likely improve the overall quality of your class traits and even unlock a new one.]
Hearing the Voice of The World’s response, Ainsworth already knew that the second method could only be achieved if he got an above SSS-rank Class Rank Upgrade Crystal.
He didn’t know when he would obtain such a valuable item as even the SSS-rank Awakeners and SS-rank Awakeners on Earth would pursue him until they obtained that from him if they ever knew he had one.
Ainsworth wasn’t even certain if there truly were thirteen SSS-rank Awakeners on Earth or if there were more since only thirteen were known to the public. He also wasn’t sure if they hid it from the public that there was already an above SSS-rank Awakener.
Nevertheless, Ainsworth knew that such level of information was something he wasn’t qualified to obtain this early on.
Even if the Awakener Association and the Global Alliance hid a lot of information from the public, that wasn’t something Ainsworth could complain about as he knew that there were traitors even among human earthlings.
After all, the means of those demons, monsters, and other creatures from the Otherworld were extensive, and aside from those who could invade Earth via the Dimensional Gates, there were also other top forces in the multiverse like the Main God Space and Reincarnation Paradise that had long been established before the Earth’s Awakener Era.
Because of that, it wasn’t uncommon for One-Star S-rank Awakeners and above to encounter them in their Otherworld Missions as that was the time that Earth would train them to deal with powerful Otherworlders similar to them.
’Going by the established logic among Awakeners, only One-Star S-rank Awakeners and above could encounter them since S-rank Awakeners would participate in Otherworld Missions where the chosen Otherworld was already a vast world or realm that was incomparable to low-tier worlds.’
’Because of that, it wasn’t uncommon to encounter Otherworlders like those from Main God Space who do the same business as us awakeners. Although there were rare cases where Earth’s Awakeners would collaborate with them, those were rare exceptions as even my teachers suggested to kill them on sight if it’s within our power and without compromising our safety.’
’Sigh, Earth isn’t that strong when compared to the top forces in the multiverse. If I ever surpass SSS-rank Awakener rank, then I might have to leave Earth and find my own method to travel the universe and become stronger on my own.’
’Of course, that’s assuming that Earth at that time could no longer provide me with any assistance. A small place like Earth couldn’t accommodate a system user like me in the later stage but since I’m still at the early stage, it’s still very useful.’
Ainsworth wasn’t worried about leaving Earth as his greatest reliance was his God-Level Choice System so he was quite confident that if he ever became an SSS-rank Awakener, it wouldn’t be out of the possibilities that he could acquire an ability to travel the Otherworlds.
Furthermore, Ainsworth knew that he couldn’t drag and burden Earth in his revenge against the Eye Organization. Even his sister Kyla who encountered them had decisively killed her memories and connections with them just to avoid their pursuit.
So, if he wanted to be free and unrestrained when he traveled the Otherworlds on his own, cutting off ties with Earth was his best option.
’Well, I’ll think about those when I become an SSS-rank Awakener. For now, I still have to assist my believers in establishing the cathedrals for the Church of Evolution in other countries and continents.’
’After all, even if they became an Evolver Overlord, they couldn’t create the divine wine refinement machine and special religious text printer without me doing it by myself.’
With that thought in mind, Ainsworth left Basement 3 of the Basilica of Transcendence.
When he did so, he was greeted by the Acolytes and Priests who were busy transporting zombie corpses to the divine wine refinement machine.
No matter how busy they were, they still stopped what they were doing and immediately knelt towards Ainsworth like a group of pious believers.
In unison, they praised wholeheartedly, "Praise the lord!"
In return, Ainsworth merely nodded while exuding his God-Level Charm (modified to that of a revered and holy god) and his charisma as a God-Level Cult Leader.
Although Ainsworth didn’t talk to them, those believers’ became even more fanatical and pious after their deity and leader acknowledged their presence and faith.
In their perspective, such a divine and aloof god nodded and acknowledged the existence of mere mortals like them.
The acknowledgment of their existence and faith made them even more motivated as this time, they decided to sleep two hours a day compared to their four hours a day sleep schedule.
They all wanted to devote their energy and life to serving the lord and the Church of Evolution’s noble cause!
Looking at the readable expressions on his believers’ faces, Ainsworth could already guess what they were thinking. Even if he couldn’t read minds, he could still read their expressions or even check their thoughts using Hive Mind.
Knowing that his believers were very loyal and pious towards him despite his rare appearances in the Church of Evolution since its establishment, Ainsworth was pleased that everything went well.
’At this rate, it’s plausible to expand the Church of Evolution to other countries and continents.’
