Chapter 164: Dragonification

Crystal had thought she had misheard the creature when it had casually remarked what it had done. She was equally stunned by the revelation that this creature called itself the Dragon God.

The words echoed in her head, stubbornly refusing to make sense. Dragon God? Bloodline? What did that even mean? Her body was still trembling from the transformation that had nearly torn her apart, but her mind had latched onto that phrase like a lifeline. Bloodline. It implied something had changed in her, something deeper than scars or pain. Something permanent.

She pushed herself up from the snow with shaking arms, her breath shallow and uneven. Her voice cracked as she spoke, her words uncertain.

"Wait... what do you mean by bloodline? What did you do to me?"

The figure turned its head slightly, not in surprise, but as if mildly inconvenienced by her question. Its wings gave a subtle twitch as it regarded her with that same unreadable calm.

"You carry my blood now. That is all that is required."

Crystal stared at it, searching for some sort of explanation in its eyes, but found only the cold emptiness of a glacier. The lack of emotion wasn’t hostile but complete indifference.

"But what does that mean?"

she pressed, her voice rising.

"Am I supposed to change? Grow scales? Breathe fire?"

"You are not a child of flame,"

it said simply with a tilt of its head.

"My blood is one of water and ice. However, what you make of my blood is completely up to you. Now take your final reward"

The transparent egg that was in its hand floated into the air above her head before shattering into a fine dust that rained down on her. When the dust touched her body, it sunk into her skin as her body absorbed it like a starving man devouring food.

World Announcement: Congratulations to the Player [Empress] for being the first Person to Change their Race to a Unique one. As a Result, the Player is Rewarded with a Unique Skill, 10,000 Exp and 50 Fame. We look forward to your Continued Growth.

Crystal heard the chime of the World Announcement just a second before she noticed the screen that appeared in front of her eyes.

Crystal’s jaw dropped at the sudden influx of system messages, her gaze flickering between the Dragon God and the system messages. It took a moment to collect herself before she dipped her head in its direction.

"Thank you for this opportunity..Sir?"

"There is no need to thank me Child. It was my duty to do so. It was you who endured so the praise should be for you.

Unable to hold herself back any longer, she opened up her status screen to check the changes

Going straight from Level 6 to almost reaching level 10 was amazing but was even more so was the fact that all of her stats had skyrocketed, Especially her health and mana pools.

Crystal blinked at the screen, then rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn’t hallucinating. The numbers stayed the same. The surge in power wasn’t an illusion. She had nearly tripled her health and more than quadrupled her mana. Even her resistances had shifted dramatically. Ice barely affected her now, and water spells would be easier to shrug off. Fire was clearly going to be a problem, but that didn’t matter at the moment.

What caught her attention most was the name of her new race.

Draconic Elf.

The words looked surreal next to her name. The Dragon God had mentioned that she carried its blood, but seeing it reflected in her status made it feel real in a way that his calm explanations hadn’t. She wasn’t just stronger. She wasn’t just faster. She was something different now.

And then there was the new skill.

She tapped the entry for Dragonification and a small window opened, its contents displayed in elegant silver text.

Dragonification (Unique Racial Skill):

Awaken the dormant draconic blood within to temporarily enhance all physical and magical stats by 50%. While active, portions of the user’s draconic lineage manifest physically. Cooldown: 1 hour. Duration: 2 minutes. Side effect: Overuse may cause strain to the user’s body or mind.

Crystal stared at it, jaw tight with disbelief. This wasn’t some minor buff. It was a transformation, a direct link to the power of the creature that had nearly crushed her with a single drop of its blood. The potential of this skill was staggering, but so was the cost of using it carelessly.

She finally looked up at the Dragon God again. It stood with its hands folded behind its back, wings shifting gently with the wind. It hadn’t moved much since the reward had been granted, as if the entire ordeal had been nothing more than a small task it had been obligated to complete.

"Why me?"

she asked quietly.

"Out of everyone, why was I the first?"

The Dragon God did not answer at first. The silence dragged out until she thought it might simply leave without a word. Then, with the faintest trace of interest in its eyes, it spoke.

"You were the first because...you had the qualifications to succeed."

That was all there was to it. Not praise. Not admiration. Just acknowledgement.

"What does that even mean?"

She couldn’t help but ask that as slight frustration rose up in her heart at the indifference it was displaying.

"It means all I did was awaken the Blood already flowing through your veins with my own."

Crystal’s lips parted as she processed those words. Her confusion only deepened. She hadn’t felt anything special before. She had just been an ordinary player, right? An elf swordswoman with decent magic and good reflexes. Nothing more.

However the Gods’ words implied that was in fact not the case. Crystal couldn’t help but feel proud and happy that she could now stand by Leo’s side and help him in any way that she could/

And for that she was grateful.
