Chapter 138: The Third Snake
Chapter 138: The Third Snake
Aria shivered even after a few minutes had passed as she tried to calm herself from the mixture of nausea and anger that she had felt at the hands of Kyle. Arachne stood in quiet amusement that the man was so unobservant that he was willing to hit on his own brother’s feminized form.
"That was disgusting! I have seen my share of sleazy men but he takes the cake. How he is related to Adam is something I can’t understand for the life of me!"
Arachne tilted her head as she watched the door, a frown deepening on her face as she too was finding something incomprehensible.
’Why is someone emitting such dense murderous intent?’
No matter, she crossed her arms and growled unafraid
"Whoever you are, If you want to come in, come in. Hovering at the entrance will do you no good."
Aria’s eyes widened in surprise at Arachne’s words. She hadn’t felt anything and thought they were truly alone again. However, a moment later the door creaked open once more and a woman walked into the room.
Melanie Samael entered the room, scanning the desk, couch and walls with a calm but stern demeanor. Her somewhat imposing demeanor made Aria a bit nervous while Arachne remained unbothered.
"Can we help you?"
Arachne’s husky voice questioned which caused Melanie to focus on her. Looking at Arachne’s face, Melanie’s eyes widened in a bit of shock mixed with another emotion that Arachne did not understand.
’Lust...? Why is this whelp lusting after this body?’
Melanie’s gaze then shifted to Aria who noticed a quiet but seething hatred directed solely at her.
’What did I do?!’
Aria shouted internally, failing to understand why this strange woman hated her before she had even said a word.
"So you are Adam’s new pet project..."
Melanie’s voice came out dry and monotone as if she was suppressing herself.
The words hung in the air like a needle dipped in poison.
Aria blinked.
’What?’
That tone... flat, but not bored. Muted, but heavy with something far darker.
"I’m sorry?" she asked, trying to keep her voice level. "Have we... met?"
Melanie smiled.
It was the kind of smile that didn’t reach the eyes akin to the malice one would show when crushing bugs for fun.
"Umm Miss, I don’t know who you are but I have to get changed and head out. I have a practice I need to get to..."
"Practice at being a man so you can get closer to the ones you target?"
The words were insane and the logic behind it was incomprehensible.
"What are you even saying, Miss? Could you please leave? I want to make sure I have everything before I go."
"What I am saying is you better keep your trashy paws off of my Adam!"
She hissed, all subtleness gone as her eyes took on a murderous glint. The sudden shift caught Aria off guard but Arachne stepped in once more to block Aria from the other party.
"And who are you to Adam?"
Arachne growled, the name felt foreign on her tongue.
Melanie narrowed her eyes as she quickly appraised Arachne’s figure, her tone immediately shifted to one of civility and even a soft affection.
"My name is Melanie Samael. I am Adam’s dear older sister."
Arachne couldn’t help but twitch an eyebrow at that response. Adam’s madness seemed to not be unique to just him but ran in the family.
Melanie kept on staring at her face, curiosity and affection growing visibly until Melanie found herself reaching out trying to touch Arachne’s face, only to be stopped when Arachne gripped the woman’s wrist.
"What do you think you are trying to do here?"
Arachne’s growl sent a shiver down Melanie’s spine, her face distorting slightly into someone who was clearly unstable.
"I was just checking something. Say... would you be open to getting some work done~?"
"Work? What sort of work?"
"Plastic Surgery of course. Agree to it and I will pay for everything, give you whatever you want and even my own body as payment~!"
Melanie’s smile twisted even more, fully showcasing her madness to the two girls. In her mind Arachne looked just like her brother and with a bit of surgery, she could have a replica of him to ’play’ with.
Arachne, disgusted by this display, scoffed and released her wrist. With a narrowed gaze she glared at the woman and snarled.
"The day I submit to you is the day the world comes to an end. Be gone with you, serpent!"
Aria found herself shivering at the heavy malice that the two women in front of her were emitting.
’This whole situation is crazy! I just wanna get out of here!’
Her instincts were screaming at her to run but the only way out was through Arachne and Melanie.
Melanie too felt the sticky malice that Arachne was emitting but instead of shivering in fear, she was struggling not to drown in the excitement. Her eyes quivered as she stared back at the cold eyes that viewed her as nothing but filth. Her eyes while ruby in colour resembled Adam’s so much.
’Oh how delightful would it be to gouge out those eyes to keep in my room~!’
Yet with a potential witness that she could not silence here, Melanie could only choose to hold back on her impulse.
In turn, she faked a cough and took a step back.
"I must apologize, I have a meeting to attend to so I must take my leave for now. Hopefully I see you again~!"
She directed a heated gaze to Arachne before immediately switching to a dark and gloomy expression when she looked at Aria.
"And I hope that you learn your place and stay away from my Adam. He is far too good a toy for someone like you."
The door shut behind Melanie as she took her leave with a soft click, but the oppressive atmosphere she left behind still clung to the room like a choking fog.
Aria finally let out the breath she had been holding, her knees wobbling as she collapsed onto the arm of the couch. She buried her face in her hands, trying to make sense of anything that had just happened.
Arachne, on the other hand, stared at the door a moment longer, then turned her attention back to Aria. Her expression was thoroughly amused.
Aria raised her head and shouted
"What the hell is wrong with this family!"
A creepy chuckle echoed in the room as the stone faced Arachne began to grin from ear to ear with a feral gleam in her eyes.
"Oh so much~! More than you probably will ever know~!"
