Chapter 122: The Path Forward (I)

Leo covered his mouth as he let out a small burp. His friends had made a decision to help Sonata’s mentor without even thinking about the slightest reward. It warmed his heart that they had not even hesitated for a second to help in whatever way they could.

"So. We should spend some time training our Lifestyle Professions. Is there any way that we could grind out experience with that?"

Horo asked, shooting a glance towards his mentor who was unable to tear his eyes away from Silvia.

"Unfortunately there is not, young man. The only way to increase your Proficiencies is to practice. So Luna must cook, The Omnibrewer’s Disciple must brew potions and poisons. I have no idea what the young scholarly lady nor our young cat eared fellow needs to do"

Ramone replied, nodding towards Roland who merely took a sip of his drink in response, silently agreeing with the experienced chef.

"Well I honestly don’t know what to do. Apparently my Lifestyle Profession is linked to my bracelets."

Leo admitted with a bit of apprehension. Barry already knew about Astra and he could tell that their mentors care towards their disciples were genuine, even if they had only known them for a short time.

"You mean your Ego Weapon gave you a Lifestyle Profession? That is practically unheard of!"

Barry asked with eyes wide, clearly shocked as he looked at the gold and obsidian cuffs on his wrist.

"Wait a second...Weren’t they both gold before? Why is one black now?"

"That’s because a separate Ego from Astra resides in the black one. His name is Mors."

"2 Egos in 1 weapon? I find that really hard to believe...."

Barry narrowed his eyes in suspicion but Lily, Luna and Nyx nodded their heads in affirmation.

"Yeah he really does have two. Mors is kind of a prick and Astra gives me that sweet but bratty girl kinda vibe~"

Lily let out a mixture of a sigh and laughter as she recalled her last experience talking to the Egos.

"If Mors had a face...I would definitely throttle him. I am also not a fan of Astra."

One of Luna’s eyes twitched in irritation.

"Mors is like a Dark Cutie while Astra is Cutie if he was a girl~!"

Nyx leaned back with a whimsical tone, causing Leo to frown at her very unhelpful commentary

"I will admit that Astra has a cute side to her but Mors is just a downright psychopath"

Horo grimaced as he remembered the time that Mors ate that goblin in front of him.

The girls chimed in succession and even Horo added his two cents, causing the mentors to be shocked again. After all, why would the five of them lie like that.

Roland narrowed his gaze as he then asked the question that came to everybody’s mind.

"So what is your Lifestyle Profession then Young Man...No. I will not call him that. Stop it or I will cut it off"

Roland growled a threat towards Nyx when she repeatedly nudged him with her tail in an attempt to get him to call Leo ’Cutie’.

Leo scratched his head as he answered

"My Lifestyle Profession is called Zodiac Tracer. Everybody who I have a permanent Zodiac Bond with empowers my Profession. The stronger their profession, the more power I gain...From what I can gather, it allows me to use the Lifestyle skills of those I am bonded to..."

The room fell silent as everyone stared at Leo blankly. Their minds struggled to comprehend what he had just said.

"So...If you have this bond with Luna...You can access Cooking Skills?"

Ramone asked after a brief moment while Roland narrowed his eyes

"And brewing skills from my brat?"

Horo eyes glimmered with a mysterious light

"And my Puppeteering too?"

Leo nodded his head in affirmation.

"Most likely"

Horo couldn’t help but laugh

"That’s great!"

’Why are you so happy?’

’I won’t be alone in my suffering here!’

’....’

Arachne was left speechless as to why Horo was so overjoyed hearing that Leo was able to copy his profession. After all—suffering alone was one thing. But sharing body horror? That was practically friendship.

"What about my Sonata? Does that mean you will be her dance partner?"

Silvia had a serious expression on her face as she glared at Leo, her eye scanning him from head to toe with scrutiny...as if she was inspecting a potential son in law.

Leo, oblivious to the meaning of the gaze tilted his head and replied in an apologetic tone.

"Unfortunately, I haven’t forged a permanent bond with Sonata yet–"

"Why not? Is my Sonata not good enough for you?!"

Silvia started acting more and more like an overactive parent, causing Sonata to feel extremely embarrassed. She clung to Silvia’s arm and pleaded with tears threatening to spill from her eyes

"Grandma! Leo and I are not like that! Please stop!"

"You impertinent brat! You are making my child cry! You better make things right or you and I will have some real problems!"

"Huh?"

"Lishten here you Brat! By this time Nexht Year, I am expecting at least one Granchwild"

Silvia was oblivious to the reason why Sonata was crying was because of secondhand shame. Leo looked to be at a loss as he had no idea why this was happening. Nyx received a nudge from Roland who nodded towards Silvia who was now clearly slurring her words, her complexion growing rosy.

Understanding the assignment, Nyx used her tail to discreetly snag Silvia’s mug and took it away from her. Seeing Nyx’s smirk expecting praise for a job well done while Leo continued to sit there and get chewed out.

’What did I do?!’

Leo wanted to cry but was afraid of offending Silvia so he sat there quietly.

"Goddamn Birdbrains. They can’t ever handle their drink."

Roland grumbled with a shake of his head. The reason why Silvia was acting like this was because she was drunk! Nyx could have explained to her friends why Silvia was acting like this but she chose not to as it was more entertaining this way. Her only regret was not having any popcorn to watch it all go down.

Barry finally tore his eyes away from Silvia with a blushed face. He too was experiencing embarrassment on Silvias behalf. It was then that he noticed one of his long-time acquaintances reading a book in the corner.

"Rori? When did you get there?!"

"Hmph! Blockhead I have been here the whole time. Not that you care."

Rori was extremely grumpy and chose to ignore Barry. Lily noticed the exchange and noticed the slight flush on her mentor’s face that she tried to hide with a book. She exchanged a glance with Luna who had also noticed it too. They were both pleasantly surprised and amused.

Was the Gorilla Man in actuality a Ladies man?
