Chapter 104: Fruitful Treachery

Leo couldn’t contain his nausea anymore and immediately turned his head to vomit. Even with Lily’s support, his brain felt like it was on fire akin to a computer that had been overclocked with insufficient cooling.

His throat felt the acidic burn of bile as he coughed up the contents of his stomach which thankfully wasn’t much.

Nyx sauntered over to him, her hair an absolute mess, her skin a tad darker than it had been before. She saw Leo heaving and gently rubbed his back.

"So what did you have for Lunch. Let me see~!"

Even when she was being ’comforting’, she still found ways to make it incredibly awkward.

Lily herself looked a little pale but she instead knelt down and picked Moku up and held up in the air.

"Behold our MVP of this fight! Moku the Adorable has once again graced us with his cuteness and provided us with all that we needed to win. Like our own personal little furry god of Cuteness! Praise be Moku, Hallowed be thy Cuteness!"

"Pyu~!"

Moku’s tail wagged so hard that even his little butt wiggled. Any harder and the possibility of his tail breaking would definitely increase as Moku was innocently loving the praise Lily was showering him with.

Sonata on the other hand was looking around, to see if there was anything she could find to get the bitter taste of the herb out of her mouth. Luna seemed to notice what Sonata was looking for based on how she was looking around.

Reaching into her inventory, she pulled out a waterskin and passed it to Sonata who took it with a grateful look in her gaze. Taking a big swig, Sonata’s eyes opened wide in shock. This didn’t taste like water at all! It was actually really sweet.

Luna had a faint smile on her face as she held up a finger to her mouth, silently telling Sonata not to say what she had just tasted. While left to her own devices, Luna had bought some fruit and turned the contents of her waterskin into a refreshing and sweet drink.

However, Luna’s attempt at keeping this a secret came to naught as Lily’s ears perked up, catching the faintest whiff of juice in the air. Her gaze locked onto the waterskin in Sonata’s hand. She then shifted her eyes to Luna, glaring at her with tears forming in her eyes as she felt betrayed.

"Why do you get juice and all I get is boring water!?"

She shouted, causing everyone to turn their attention to Lily. Horo was extremely conflicted as he watched someone he could only describe as a genius stomping her foot with puffed cheeks, holding her puppy close to her chest.

She was acting like a child throwing a tantrum. Horo could feel his newfound respect for Lily evaporating as she pouted and whined while Luna facepalmed. This was exactly why she didn’t want Sonata to say anything. Yet it was a futile effort as apparently Lily could sniff out sweet things like a bloodhound!

Leo wiped his mouth as he rejoined the group, Nyx walking alongside him, her tail wrapped around his waist, a wide grin on her face as she discreetly got away with hugging Leo without his sister or Lily getting in her way.

Leo felt the tail around his slender waist but Nyx was being docile and quiet so he decided to let it slide without saying a word which in turn made Nyx happier that she wasn’t being rejected. Sonata noticed Nyx’s tail but kept her mouth shut when she met the gaze of Nyx who winked playfully.

Sonata nodded in acquiescence, pretending she didn’t see anything as she tried to comfort Lily.

"Here you go Lily. I am not thirsty anymore. You can have the rest of this juice. We can buy you some more when we get back to town! Right Luna?"

She comforted as she rubbed Lily’s back who had begun to sniffle, barely having avoided breaking into full on tears.

"Yeah that would be hard to do...."

Luna admitted, scratching her head awkwardly. Lily’s eyes widened as they began to water again, seriously about to cry like a toddler who didn’t get her way even though she was a full grown woman.

"Ehh~?"

Sonata looked slightly panicked as she glared at Luna in disbelief.

’Couldn’t you have just lied to her?! Why are you doing this?!’

She howled mentally, glancing towards Horo as if to plead for his help.

"It can’t be that hard to buy juice right? We will have plenty of money after selling any useless loot, right?"

Luna shook her head at that as well, causing the duo trying to prevent Lily’s tears from falling to freeze.

"It’s not about the money. That little glutton will just eat until she is fat and then want to laze around all day! She is playing you guys."

Horo and Sonata looked at each other before glancing towards Lily, whose head had lowered.

"T-That can’t be. Right?"

Sonata stuttered as she felt embarrassment rising up from the depths of her heart. Had she been tricked by Lily’s acting again?

"I have an idea Sis. When we get back to town, why don’t you cook for us but exclude Lily for her poor jokes."

Luna heard Leo’s suggestion who had a small smirk of his own as he glared lightly at Lily. It seemed that even her brother intended to get his petty revenge on Lily now.

"Sure why not. We have some meat and I can buy the ingredients to grill it for everyone. Of course Lily will be excluded!"

"I OBJECT! I AM SORRY FOR PLAYING SUCH A RUDE JOKE. PLEASE LET ME EAT WITH EVERYONE ELSE!"

Horo could feel his agitation rise as Lily’s head shot up, eyes sparkling with desire. She even had started to drool a bit at the corner of her mouth.

Lily, detecting Horo’s scornful gaze, turned her head to meet him with one of her own.

"You have no idea just how good Luna’s cooking is! You have not tasted food until you have tasted hers! She is a goddess in the kitchen! She can turn even an ordinary meal into a gourmet one. If it was to eat her food everyday, I would happily marry her!"

Each sentence grew even louder, causing Horo to flinch at the unexpected zeal that Lily was showcasing. Even Leo nodded his head in understanding, he fully understood just how good his sister’s food was.

The unexpected exaltation of her cooking caused Luna to blush in embarrassment as she tried to play it off like it’s no big deal.

"I can understand it being good but can’t you cook for yourself? I mean I can cook a bit, what about you Sonata?"

Sonata shook her head and remarked

"As an idol, I have to be careful with what I eat so I don’t have any control over my diet. I eat what’s given to me or starve."

A drop of cold sweat formed on the side of Horo’s head.

’That’s just sad...I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that...’

He turned his head to Nyx whose smile had cramped up at the sudden focus. She knew what she was about to be asked.

"I can make sandwiches and Instant Noodles~!"

She tried to make herself sound cheerful but her answer made the truth obvious: She couldn’t cook either.

He then turned to Leo who shrugged.

"I can cook but Luna’s cooking is more delicious. Plus it’s been years since I could!"

"That’s not true! You make the best desserts ever! I am nowhere near as good as you at that!"

Luna interjected with a cry, causing the rest of the party to be surprised.

"It’s been years since I have made a dessert. I don’t think I would be able to make anything good."

"Well I for one would love for you to make a dessert for us alongside Luna’s cooking. Sibling Feast!"

"Don’t decide things on your own Lily!"

Leo snapped at Lily but Luna had a contemplative expression on her face as if she was seriously thinking about it. Seeing that, Leo could only sigh in exasperation.

"Fine. You win. I’ll do it."

"Besides, It’s not like any of use will gain any weight from eating virtual food right~"

Horo casually chimed in but his expression faltered when all the girls fell silent. All of them had dangerous looks in their eyes and he swore he could feel the air rumbling around them.

They had just been made aware of the fact they could eat as much as they want without having to worry about gaining any weight.

Horo had a feeling that the feast would be just as dangerous as the dungeon...if not more so.
