Chapter 1084: Chapter 147 : Home for Dinner
In preparation for the luncheon with students, Lena and I started recruiting teachers for the school. Ciana and Eliza were among those we reached out to. The two of them were more than happy to fill in, at least in the beginning.
I knew that they had a lot of other responsibilities, but it meant a lot that they were willing to help out.
Lena and I got all the new teachers together to discuss the curriculum and future classes.
“Well, this is going to be their primary education, so we should include the basic courses in math, history, science, geography, and all those subjects,” Eliza offered.
“Yes, absolutely. And... it is very important to have a separate history class for the events in Light and Dark Realm history that were influenced by magic and magic users,” Ciana suggested.
“You really want to give these students some ideas?” one of the other teachers asked.
I cleared my throat. “I think Ciana is saying we should teach them about events where magic was harmful and helpful. That way, they can see the dangers but not be afraid of their own powers.” My stomach rumbled and I thought of how I used to fear my powers, especially after I confronted The Immortal.
“What about the magical artifacts? Should we educate these girls on them? Many of them have powers that could amplify the artifacts or even counteract them,” Eliza brought up.
“Yes, teaching them about the artifacts is important. These girls are our future. They will have the strength and power to protect both realms.” Lena spoke firmly, but there was a strange emptiness to her voice.
“Lena, what’s wrong?” Ciana touched Lena’s shoulder.
Lena took a big breath and sighed. “Part of the reason I decided to start a school for gifted girls is because... I had a vision recently about the Moon Goddess.”
“Oh boy. Are we in for another prophecy fiasco or something?” Eliza asked, knitting her brows together.
I was there during the vision and I knew what Lena had seen, but we hadn’t talked about it. She didn’t tell me that the vision was the reason she’d built the school.
“The Moon Goddess told me that someday the Dark Lord would return and she would be there to face him.”
“That’s a good thing, isn’t it?” Eliza asked.
“Yes. It is very good. However, she informed me that she’d need her powers back, the ones I have as a White Queen.”
A strange hush fell over everyone in the room.
Ciana shook her head. “But that... it would leave the realms vulnerable. The White Queen is the protector of the realms.”
“That’s why I wanted to start this school for gifted girls. There are so many powerful young women out there. They don’t even know it. This school’s purpose is to teach them how to use their powers to protect others so that they will be the ones protecting the realms one day.”
“So, this is all preemptive?” Eliza asked.
Lena nodded. “Sasha and I have selected incredibly unique, powerful girls for the first class. After we get a handle on the curriculum and see how the school year progresses, I’d like to branch out and start more schools in both the Dark and Light Realms. That way, girls from all over each realm have the opportunity to learn and will be inspired to protect the realms.”
“It is a wonderful idea, Lena,” Ciana agreed.
“I’ve already agreed to help design the schools and interview students,” I spoke up.
“Please, I’m sharing this with you all because it is important for you to know. But for now, can you keep the bit about the Moon Goddess and my powers under wraps?”
“Why? The realm has a right to know,” one of the teachers said.
“They will, once it comes to pass,” Lena said. “There’s no need to stir up a panic until there are graduates from these programs ready to step into the roles of protectors.”
“Don’t worry, we will keep this secret,” Eliza said. She shot a glare at the one teacher who had spoken out.
I got the sense that Eliza would make sure the other women didn’t say anything.
“Thank you. It means a lot that you all will be here to help out.”
After the teacher meeting, I headed back to the palace suites. Lucas was there with the kids today. Now that I had a job that occupied a lot of my time, he managed to schedule himself two days off a week. I also had two days off, and one of our days overlapped with each other.
That way, the kids got us for three whole days and we got to spend one day together as a family.
During our work weeks, we were still pretty busy, but we made it a point to either eat breakfast or dinner together as a family.
I was feeling a lot better about the situation now, and I knew Lucas was committed to this life.
“How did the meeting go?” he asked, handing Willow to me.
I got a bottle from the fridge, warmed it up, and started feeding her. “Good. Eliza and Ciana are on board. There are a couple of other teachers involved too. We worked on the curriculum today and have a good plan going forward.”
“Wow. I’m really happy you got involved in this, Sasha.” He kissed me on the cheek.
I smiled and nodded. “Yeah. And the best part is, I won’t just be working with the students. Lena wants to open more schools in both the Light and Dark Realms. She’s asked me to take point on designing the schools.”
Lucas’s whole face lit up with a wide grin. “That’s excellent. You get to work with gifted girls and use your architectural talents. Did you ever imagine a job that used all your skills?”
I shrugged. “Honestly, I didn’t think it was possible, but Lena managed to make it work for me.”
I burped Willow and put her down for an afternoon nap. Hunter played with toy planes on the floor. Lucas bought him a model airport after the one he was building. He loved flying his plastic planes around and imitating the sounds he thought they made.
Lucas came up behind me and slipped his arms around my waist. He kissed my shoulder and my neck.
“Life is coming together for us,” he murmured.
“Do you think we’ll soon be able to have that dream house in the country with a big family?” I asked.
Lucas chuckled. “Oh, yes. That is still on the books. While you’re flying all around the realms, I can start looking for properties.”
“It might be a little too soon for that.” I giggled and pulled away from Lucas. He was being such a flirt right now.
Not that I minded–ever since we got married, went on our honeymoon, and had Willow, our relationship felt like it did before all these horrible things started happening to us.
“So, you’ll be traveling around a lot, huh?”
“I don’t know how often I’ll have to travel. Lena has two sites where she wants to build schools, and she wants to start on construction before the first class graduates. I think she wants us to have three schools ready for the second class.”
“That’s a big commitment. I’m assuming she wants one in the Light Realm, too?”
I nodded. “It isn’t that big of a commitment. We aren’t building anything from scratch, just renovating current properties.”
“Will you be away from home for long stretches of time?” A shadow came across Lucas’s face.
I cupped his cheek. “There might be some travel. I’m sure I can have that nanny travel with me and the kids sometimes.”
“And what about me?” Lucas pouted. I could tell he was just being playful.
Sighing, I nudged his shoulder and laughed lightly. “Oh, how the tables have turned, haven’t they?”
He grinned and slipped his arms around my waist. I struggled against him, halfheartedly, but he pulled me against him.
“If you’re always traveling, how are we supposed to keep growing our family?” he teased. He kissed me on the neck and then blew a big, ticklish raspberry against my skin.
I shrieked with laughter and covered my own mouth. “Stop it!” I gasped. “Willow is napping.”
Lucas just pulled me out of the nursery to the hallway.
“We managed just fine even when you were working crazy hours.” I nodded to the crib where Willow slept.
Lucas smirked. “Hmm... we did, didn’t we? I’m starting to see how you felt, though. Just thinking of you being gone for a day or two makes me lonely. I miss you already.”
I rolled my eyes at him. He was being so goofy.
“Well, I can ask King Xander if he has a spare private jet for me. You can have one, I can have one, and we’ll both always be home for dinner.”
Lucas’s smile spread across his lips even further. “Oh, I love it when you use logic like that. And if Xander doesn’t have a spare, my plane manufacturing factories are up and running. Maybe I should just build one for you. I’m sure you have a birthday or we have an anniversary coming up. Want a plane?”
“Definitely. Although, jewelry still makes a good backup gift.” I put my arms around Lucas’s neck.
He slipped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer. “I told you we’d find a way to make all this work.”
I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, we just had to have personal private jets to make it happen.”
Lucas shrugged. He leaned in and kissed me hard on the lips. I melted against him, his warm lips moving against mine. This was the perfect life, the perfect moment.
Sometimes, I still couldn’t believe how much love I had for Lucas and my children. Was it possible to be any happier or any more in love?
We pulled apart after a moment and I rested my head on Lucas’s shoulder. He held me in a close embrace, stroking my hair. I could hear Willow mumbling in her sleep and Hunter playing animatedly with his planes.
“How much travel will you be doing?” Lucas asked, a serious note entering his tone.
I shrugged, still clinging to his strong, powerful body. He was my mate, my rock, and I loved him.
“Probably not as much as you were. I think I can cluster my responsibilities together so I only have to travel a few days at a time, then not travel for a longer stretch.
Lucas nodded. “Well, I know I will miss you, and the kids, when you’re all gone.”
I pulled back and looked into Lucas’s eyes, smirking. “Don’t worry, I’ll always be home for dinner.”
