Sky-cracking Rider -
Chapter 889 - 889: Section 882 - Three Major Abnormal Regions
On the third day of Chen Fei's arrival at 310 Airport, the Crystal Jet had just completed its second crash of the day, slamming solidly into the ground and shattering on the spot. Without waiting for another overhaul, the test flight had to be halted.
The command team of the Blue Star Global United Defense Committee would not let such a combat force stray too far from the command radius for long, as new developments concerning the extraterrestrial race "Sagali" had emerged.
The creepy moths weren't done yet, though this was expected.
The Parasitic Species have already pinpointed Blue Star's location, so it's unlikely they would easily give up. Even though the invasion through the "Wormhole Cloud" failed, there are bound to be other methods. After all, they are an ancient intelligent species with profound heritage.
Through the remote sensing monitoring of the satellite network, three new abnormal regions have appeared on the surface of Blue Star: the Gali Peninsula on the North American Continent, the northern part of the Desert Peninsula at the Eurasian junction, and at the junction of the Persian, Patan, and Babur sovereignties on the Eurasian Land Bridge, all coincidentally near the Northern latitude 30 degrees line.
Especially that last one, it's truly a fine place, often symbolizing a chaotic land, notorious for its confusion.
Those who accidentally entered these abnormal regions mostly disappeared, their lives and deaths unknown. The few who were fortunate enough to survive brought back quite crucial intelligence.
The situation within the abnormal regions is quite different from the "Wormhole Cloud." The terrain and natural ecology have undergone completely diverse changes, unlike Blue Star, resembling an alien planet, even the air is filled with elements unsuitable for human adaptation.
The bizarre regional landforms drastically different from Blue Star are not the Emerald Star that Blue Star People once visited. The known celestial data does not match, making it impossible to ascertain their true location, as if two entirely different worlds overlapped within a small area.
The Giant Battleship did not utilize the Psi Skill of the S-Class Space Ability User once more but directly flew at an altitude of 12,000 meters towards the abnormal region located within Persian Sovereignty, adjacent to Patan and Babur sovereignties, to initiate an investigation.
Though it was classified under the ark plan to preserve human cultural fire seeds, it wasn't about hiding in the rear and relaxing; work still needed to be done.
Coincidentally, the location of Chen Fei's Giant Battleship was closer to the nearest abnormal region than the Command Center and Sovereignty Coalition Forces still assembled at Midway Island — by several thousand kilometers.
Upon receiving the order, at the earliest moment, Chen Fei reluctantly parted with his girlfriend and young engineers like Nangong Ruiyang, leaving only an unshaped Crystal Jet to take off again, leaving 310 Airport and heading directly to the new mission site.
Because most of the abnormal region lies within Persian Sovereignty, several investigative teams were dispatched to conduct thorough explorations.
To be cautious, no human members were in the squad; all were Mechanical Beings, including bionic Mechanical Beings such as quadrupeds resembling beasts and multi-legged resembling insects, better suited to adapt to complex geographic environments.
The explorations, ranging from shallow to deep, recovered numerous valuable pieces of intelligence.
Current conjectures suggest the abnormal region within Persian Sovereignty might very well be a mysterious overlap between another planet and Blue Star's surface, causing same-sized regions to swap places — the abnormal regions on Blue Star are essentially parts of an unknown planet, while Blue Star's original region transferred onto the other planet.
After reading the newly received intelligence, Chen Fei cast his gaze on the three-dimensional holographic projection of the Blue Star planet within the battleship's bridge.
"Why choose the Northern latitude 30 degrees line instead of the Southern latitude or other latitude lines?"
Once might be coincidence, twice perhaps, but thrice, then surely it's inevitable.
Artificial Intelligence AI "Adam" marked the three abnormal regions located on the Gali Peninsula of the North American Continent, the northern part of the Desert Peninsula at the Eurasian junction, and some place within Persian Sovereignty, adding auxiliary lines that together form a relatively thick latitude line.
Thus an intriguing pattern emerges.
"The Northern latitude 30 degrees line is a magnetic field weak spot of the planet, related to Blue Star's planetary shape."
Miyoshi Xuesen, knowledgeable in astronomy and geography, and well aware of the muddy depths, despite a black heart, isn't lacking in knowledge.
Earth isn't spherical; it's more pear-shaped. The planet's magnetic field shields the entire planet from solar storms and cosmic rays; its irregular shape might induce several impacts.
"Ancient civilizations, mysterious locales, extreme climates—all occur near the Northern latitude 30 degrees line, but the truth is a continuously active earthquake zone. While earthquakes devastate terrain, create various geologic environments, instigate diverse natural phenomena, they also expose minerals from the crust, enabling tool-utilizing civilizations to access various resources, such as fresh water, minerals, salt, coal, natural gas, and petroleum."
The most surprising is that S-Class Superpower User Heseman Brown isn't merely a capability holder with Psi Skill; remarkably, his insight isn't lacking, uttering a reasonably coherent inference.
"What exactly do 'Sagali' mean?"
Frowning, Chen Fei, despite the ample intelligence seeming quite useful, noted the asymmetric intelligence situation between Blue Star and the extraterrestrial race.
The former is defensively passive, the latter offensively proactive, a mostly one-way transparency of information creating a disadvantageous scenario. Thus, whether the "Wormhole Cloud" or current three abnormal regions, should Blue Star civilization err in a step, managing improperly, consequence could very likely be catastrophic.
Civility struggles contain no compassion, with Blue Star civilization deeply aware that its entire history is nearly an entire war history.
Regrettably, Chen Fei hadn't encountered minority parasitic species like "Taga" willing to peacefully communicate. Otherwise, even without answers, some directions might be discerned.
Miyoshi Xuesen speculated, saying: "Perhaps it's to unlock a new channel; Yan Ling established rules, allowing only one 'Wormhole Cloud'. The Parasitic Species switched methods to breach Blue Star's invasion channel."
Within the Giant Battleship's bridge, Chen Fei, Miyoshi Monk, and S-Class Superpower User Heseman Brown held a brainstorming session, aiming to deduce the origins and purposes of these three abnormal regions; real wisdom continues to operate above Midway Island's maritime domain, within the Command Center aboard the flagship of the Second Warship Combat Cluster.
Despite having hundreds aboard the Giant Battleship, Chen Fei wasn't well-acquainted with them, lacking familiarity even among talents potentially present, thus hindering extensive exchange, with most performing individual tasks within and outside the bridge.
The civilization of the extraterrestrial race "Sagali" far exceeds Blue Star civilization and Cangqiong Star civilization; multiple methods connect to different planets, which isn't surprising.
Beep!~
Adam: new email from the Command Center.
Not only Chen Fei received the notification, but also Miyoshi Xuesen and Heseman Brown; their intelligence permissions in the battlefield data link weren't below Chen Fei's.
This ought to be a same-level permissions group mailing.
"There's more new intelligence coming, it's the air composition experimental report, huh? The air compositions of three abnormal regions differ!~ They're not the same!"
Chen Fei, directly using AR visual assistance, examined the newly received email contents, surprised, exchanged glances with the other two in the bridge.
Different air compositions indicate these three abnormal regions correspond to distinct atmospheric environments, perhaps extending further—separate planetary environments, three even!
Sizzle!~~~~
A single Emerald Star was enough to drive Blue Star civilization mad, completing landing preparations in the briefest time.
Heseman Brown, stroking his scruffy chin, muttered to himself pensively: "Doesn't seem promising!"
"Fishing!"
No surprise for the scheming Monk, submerged in conspiracy theory dominance.
"This possibility isn't low!"
Chen Fei slowly nodded; when it comes to covert methods, Monk is undoubtedly most skilled.
If placing Miyoshi Xuesen in the "Sagali's" standpoint, it's naturally plausible they'd concoct traps seemingly nonsensical, yet secretly lethal.
Despite the alien species civilization predominantly surviving through parasitism, Cangqiong Star and Blue Star alike won't underestimate this adversary.
How to "fish", followed by what deadly strikes might ensue, while weighing guesses this direction, remains unknown.
Within the abnormal region of the Gali Peninsula on the North American Continent is flat Gobi terrain, air containing 40% nitrogen, 15% carbon dioxide, 9% of radioactive isotope radon (222Rn)... oxygen occupies merely less than 1%. Yet, even within such harsh conditions, life persists on dry ground; fist-sized, hard-shelled snail-shaped creatures inhabit, alongside low-growing plants emitting faint green light covering crevices in rocks.
The abnormal region in the northern part of the Desert Peninsula, by contrast, is a pure aquatic world, an alkaline freshwater environment threatening immersion upon entry, laden with numerous aquatic flora and fauna.
The destination Chen Fei and others aboard the Giant Battleship are headed towards, the abnormal region within Persian Sovereignty, is a fog-laden Rock Forest, though air lacks radioactive gases; oxygen proportion remains under 0.5%, thoroughly uninhabitable by humans.
