Sins Of Her Venom -
Chapter 96: Cheating
Chapter 96: Cheating
-Kathrine Andrews: (Song of the Chapter: okay by Chase Atlantic)
She wasn’t supposed to be here.
She wasn’t supposed to sit next to me like this, her body angled toward mine, our legs brushing under the table.
She wasn’t supposed to look at me like that—like she wanted me like she didn’t give a single fuck that half the cafeteria was whispering about us.
She wasn’t supposed to make my stomach flip.
And yet, here she was, smiling like she had just won some kind of game.
I gripped my fork tighter, trying to focus on my food, but I could barely swallow past the lump in my throat. I could feel every stare in the room, feel the weight of their curiosity, their amusement, their judgment.
They were eating this up.
The same people who had laughed when Glyndon used to push me around in the hallways.
The same people who used to whisper about me behind my back, making fun of the way I dressed, the way I spoke, the way I simply existed as an out lesbian in a school full of homophobic assholes.
And now those same people were watching with open-mouthed shock as Glyndon sat beside me like she belonged there.
Like she wasn’t ashamed.
Like she wasn’t afraid.
The cafeteria was too quiet. The kind of quiet that meant everyone was listening, even as they pretended not to.
And Glyndon?
She was completely unbothered.
She picked up her fork, casually stabbing a piece of chicken, acting like she didn’t just turn the entire fucking school upside down in a matter of minutes.
"You’re staring," she murmured, not even looking up from her plate.
"You’re insane," I shot back, my voice low, sharp.
She smirked, finally meeting my gaze. "Am I?"
I exhaled slowly, my fingers tightening around my fork. "You used to flinch when I even looked at you the wrong way," I said, keeping my tone level, measured. "Now, what? You’re sitting next to me in public, knowing damn well everyone’s watching?"
She tilted her head like she was considering it. "Maybe I like the attention," she said, her smirk widening.
"Bullshit."
"Or..." She set her fork down and leaned in, close enough that I could feel her breath against my cheek. "Maybe I just really, really like you and I want every single person here to know you are mine... Including that b...girl, Savannah."
I froze.
My body betrayed me before my mind could catch up, my breath hitching just slightly—so slightly that I hoped she wouldn’t notice.
But she did.
Of course, she did.
Her smirk deepened, her gaze flicking down to my lips, and I had to clench my fists to stop myself from reacting.
Fuck.
Fuck her.
Fuck the way she could flip my entire world upside down with just a few words.
I turned away, pretending to be more interested in my phone than the way my pulse was pounding in my ears. "You’re gonna regret this," I muttered, my voice quieter now.
She just chuckled, leaning even closer, her lips nearly brushing the shell of my ear. "Not a chance."
The cafeteria doors swung open, and I barely had time to register the sound before I felt new eyes on me.
I looked up just in time to see Savannah and the others walking in, their expressions shifting the second they spotted us.
Savannah’s brows shot up.
I could already hear the interrogation coming later.
But right now, I have a bigger problem.
Because Glyndon wasn’t moving.
She wasn’t pulling away, wasn’t creating any space between us.
She was still sitting next to me, her thigh still pressed against mine, her fingers still playing idly with the edge of my tray like she had every right to be this close.
And the worst part?
I didn’t want her to move.
I tried to ignore the way my heart pounded in my chest, the way my fingers clenched against my tray as if holding on for dear life. Glyndon was still right there—so close, so unapologetic, so fucking bold.
People were still watching. Some were pretending not to, whispering behind their hands, their eyes darting toward us like they were witnessing the biggest scandal of the year. Others didn’t even try to hide it.
Savannah, who had just walked in, stopped dead in her tracks. Her eyes widened as she took in the scene—me, stiff and tense, and Glyndon, relaxed and smug, as she had just won some grand prize.
I swallowed hard.
Fuck.
Glyndon dragged her fork through her food lazily, like she wasn’t even remotely affected by the weight of all these stares.
I was still trying to wrap my head around the fact that she was sitting here at all, while she acted like this was just another normal day.
Like she hadn’t spent years pretending she hated me.
Like she hadn’t shoved me into lockers, thrown insults at me, made my life a living hell.
And now?
Now, she was claiming me in front of everyone.
I forced myself to pick up my fork, but I barely had the appetite to eat anymore. Every nerve in my body was on high alert, every second stretching longer than it should.
Savannah started walking toward our table, her expression shifting from shock to something unreadable.
Oh, no.
I already knew this wasn’t going to end well.
She stopped beside us, her hands on her hips, her gaze flicking between Glyndon and me like she was waiting for one of us to explain.
Glyndon just smirked.
"Something wrong?" she asked, her voice smooth, confident, almost mocking.
Savannah blinked, then let out a short laugh, shaking her head. "Are you serious right now?"
Glyndon shrugged. "What’s so surprising?"
Savannah’s mouth fell open slightly, and then she turned to me, waiting for me to say something.
I didn’t know what to say.
I could barely process what was happening myself.
Instead of answering, I turned back to my tray, stabbing at my food as if it were the most interesting thing in the world.
Glyndon, of course, wasn’t done yet.
She casually draped an arm over the back of my chair, not quite touching me but close enough that it felt possessive.
"Relax," she told Savannah. "I’m just sitting with my girl."
My breath caught.
Savannah scoffed. "Your what?"
Glyndon leaned forward slightly, finally looking at me. "My girl," she repeated, her voice softer now, but still loud enough for everyone to hear.
The cafeteria seemed to hold its breath.
I clenched my jaw, my nails digging into my palm. "I’m not your anything," I muttered, barely above a whisper.
Glyndon just smiled. "Not yet."
Savannah exhaled sharply, rubbing a hand down her face. "Jesus Christ. Are you high?"
Glyndon laughed. "Nope. Just enlightened."
Savannah turned to me again, looking for confirmation, looking for something.
I couldn’t give it to her.
I was too busy trying to fight the way my stomach was flipping, the way my skin was heating under Glyndon’s gaze.
The way I wanted this.
Which was insane.
Because she had spent years making my life miserable.
Because she had only just admitted her feelings, only just stopped running from herself.
Because this wasn’t supposed to happen.
And yet...
And yet I still couldn’t bring myself to pull away.

-Glyndon Walton:
The second Savannah left, I barely had time to breathe before Alex showed up and dropped into the seat across from us as he belonged there. My shoulders tensed instantly, but it was Kathrine who reacted first.
Her face twisted with irritation, and she shot him a glare so sharp it could’ve cut through steel.
"What the fuck are you doing here?" she snapped. "Fuck off."
Alex, as usual, acted like she hadn’t even spoken. He barely spared her a glance before turning to me instead, his expression unreadable.
But there was something in his eyes, something quieter than I was used to seeing from him.
"That was brave of you," he said.
I frowned, confused. "What?"
"What you did today." His voice was softer than usual. "Standing your ground. Owning what you want. I don’t think I could ever be that brave."
I had no idea what he was getting at, but when I glanced at Kathrine, she had gone completely still beside me. Her jaw was clenched, her fingers digging into the table.
She knew something I didn’t.
I turned back to Alex, my frown deepening. "What are you trying to say?"
He hesitated. Just for a second. Then, taking a slow breath, he met my eyes.
"I need you to keep something a secret," he said. "At least for now."
A weird feeling settled in my stomach. "...Okay?"
And then he said the last thing I ever expected.
"I’m dating Malakai."
I blinked.
I must’ve misheard him. That was the only explanation.
But when I looked at him, his expression was serious. Too serious.
Kathrine made a scoffing noise beside me, but my mind barely processed it because—what?
"Wait." I shook my head. "You’re what?"
Alex exhaled like this conversation was draining him. "I’ve been seeing him. Her older brother. For a while now."
My brain struggled to make sense of the words. Malakai. Kathrine’s brother. The Malakai I’d seen the other day, who was tall, older. The guy who barely spoke to anyone. That Malakai?
A man.
With Alex?
I must’ve looked as lost as I felt because Alex ran a hand through his hair, looking almost guilty. "And I’m sorry," he said, voice lower now. "Because that means I was cheating on you. With him."
My stomach dropped.
Everything inside me went still.
