Sigil Online: I became the duke's third son -
Chapter 93
Chapter 93: Chapter 93
Time passed at a crawl as everyone was eagerly filling in the exams—everyone except Luan, of course. He was looking out the window, half dozing off.
Even though he was doing that, he was still quite satisfied with his answers; he had skipped all the hard questions while filling in only the easy ones.
Abigail was now touring the classroom, furiously glancing at all the students’ work, impressed by some and very disappointed in others. And of course there was one who was a rather special case.
Luan Meskevela is the fiancé of Princess Liana and son of Drago, with whom she herself had attended the academy. So she knew better than anyone how he was at the academy.
And to her dismay, Luan was a perfect copy of his father, botching the theoretical exam. And finding it a drag, as she glared straight at him by standing in front of his vision.
Instead of steadying his posture and acting like he would continue, his eyes darted around her body, admiring it, and with a silly grin on his face, he kept staring at her.
Which only further infuriated her; almost stomping off, she took a seat at the front of the room once more, and now instead of focusing on everyone a little, she kept staring daggers at Luan.
Outside the room, the imperial guards could only look pitifully at Luan. Did he not know her temper? She hated people like him the most.
And he was acting like this before even enrolling? She was most definitely going to make his years here a living hell to the best of her ability if he succeeded in passing the entrance exams.
While glancing at one another, they suddenly saw someone stand up. It was Liana, and with a proud look on her face, she handed her exam to Abigail.
Then she went straight back to her assigned seat and sat back down with that same perfect posture; after all, she was an imperial, and that meant she had to set a good example for her fellow students and nobles.
A stark contrast to Luan’s attitude, after people saw Liana hand in her paper, some people started stressing and frantically looking through their exams, while others looked with awe at her.
’No wonder she’s a princess,’ the student seated next to her thought. And right after she glanced at Luan, the so-called fiancé, but he looked more like a barbarian by how he was acting.
Rolling her eyes, she focused on her own exam once more. To be able to enter together with the princess would be a huge honor; she had to do her best.
Not long after Liana, Benjamin also stood up and handed in his exam. With a proud look on his face, he looked at Luan, but what he saw left him speechless. He was sleeping?
At first he thought Luan would have been waiting until both imperials had handed in their test to hand it in after, but he was sleeping? During this crucial time? ’What do Mother and Father see in him? Wouldn’t Joil Solvayne have been better?’ he thought.
But he also knew that his mother was extremely sharp and didn’t only think about the present but also the future, so maybe he would later on show his true potential or use for the empire.
With a shrug, he sat back down, and just like Liana, he didn’t slouch at all. With a smile on his face, he sat upright to make sure to give the proper example.
After the two handed in their exams, slowly the other students also turned theirs in one by one; only then did Luan groggily wake up and quickly check his answers once more before handing his in as well.
Almost stumbling over his own feet during the process. When he put the exam on Abigail’s desk, he saw her glaring at him with killing intent emanating from her whole body.
But he just shrugged it off and went back to his seat and closed his eyes again, not minding all the hateful gazes from his fellow students and the vice-principal.
A couple minutes later everyone had handed in their exams, and Abigail stood up and clapped her hands a couple times.
"Good job, everyone, except one," she said. "Next will be the practical tests, which will be conducted per class, so follow me." Luan, who had just closed his eyes, opened them once more and looked at her with an annoyed look. ’Right after it?’ he thought, clicking his tongue.
Like that they all followed behind Abigail with all their guards and personal servants trailing behind them.
After what felt like an eternity, they finally arrived in front of a massive building. "This is where all your practical exams will be done; it’s called the evaluation hall. And if you manage to pass, this is where you will be doing all your practical classes as well." After saying that, Abigail opened the massive crimson doors.
Once inside, everyone looked around in awe; there was so much going on. Training halls on one side and signs with all kinds of things written on them. From training grounds to sparring arenas and much more, this facility was no joke.
Quietly following behind Abigail, they made their way deep inside, and all the way at the end, they went downstairs, following a sign that read "Entrance exam testing."
Once they went down all the stairs, they were greeted by a robust-looking man with long crimson hair.
Everyone looked at each other awkwardly, waiting for the vice-principal to do anything, and the guards had their guards up to make sure nothing would go wrong.
"Hahahaha, it seems the first batch of whelps is here, huh. How did they do VP?" the robust-looking man asked, with a big smile on his face.
Abigail just sighed and rubbed her temples. "Everyone except one troublemaker did well. But do you really have to do it like this every single time?" She replied, making sure he heard those last three words.
"Of course, especially with my niece and nephew joining this time, I have to oversee it myself." After saying that, he turned toward the student.
"Hello everyone, you all must be curious who I am, right? Well, worry not, I will introduce myself right now." The man said, flexing his muscles so hard his shirt seemed to tear apart.
Liana and Benjamin both stared with wide eyes at the man, while Abigail seemed to want to jump into a hole to hide.
Luan noticed her reaction and wondered if there was some kind of connection.
"I am Mateo Alderon, the older brother of the current emperor, Caelius Alderon!" he announced.
"Ah," now it all made sense: the crimson hair, the reaction of Liana and Benjamin, and even Abigail’s reaction.
