Chapter 50: Lombardi Event [Christian POV]

"They sure went all out on this event. Not many people have the means to book this hotel for an event," said Zach as we walked into the lobby of the Sinclair, one of the few six-star hotels in our country.

"Well, the Lombardis are considered one of the top families in the country. They have the connections to make something like this possible," I replied simply.

We walked through the opulent lobby towards the back, where the massive banquet hall was set up for tonight’s event.

Only a few people knew what tonight’s event really was. It was advertised as a simple dinner event; however, in reality, it was a surprise runway show from the famous designer KASS.

As we walked into the hall, I quickly noticed the long runway stage in the center of the room. The surroundings were decorated with dark colors, fitting the theme of ’Starry Night’.

"A runway? What sort of event is this?" asked Zach.

I smirked, "One where you get to look at beautiful women. Aren’t you happy?"

"Of course!" he smiled, walking in behind me.

The hall was already filled with many people, all dressed very elegantly. Everyone buzzed with excitement from the surprise show and chatted happily while sipping on champagne.

"I think I see Liam over there. He looks like he’s lost," laughed Zach, pointing at Liam, who was awkwardly standing in the corner.

"Hey. Glad to see you made it. Hope the hospital didn’t make taking the evening off too difficult for you," I smiled, hugging him.

"No way. I’ve got about four years of paid time off saved up from all the overtime I work. They were more than willing to give me the day off," he said.

"Well, where is she? I’m dying to see the Moresi girl you’re engaged to," he said, looking around the room.

I followed his line of sight, looking around for a moment, "I don’t think she’s arrived yet. Trust me, you’ll notice her."

Knowing Morgan’s tastes, I knew she would arrive dressed up in something very eye-catching.

"Oh? Is she so beautiful that we will notice her immediately?" asked Liam with interest.

No, that would be Leslie.

"No, it’s not that. She just likes to dress loudly." I shook my head before noticing the Lombardis approaching me.

"Oh, Christian! I’m so glad you could make it today!" Mrs. Lombardi walked over with her husband and daughter.

I bowed slightly as I greeted them politely, "Of course. Thank you for inviting me to such an event. I’ve brought my two good friends, Zachary and Liam."

Zachary and Liam both took turns shaking hands with Mr. Lombardi while bowing to the ladies.

Mrs. Lombardi’s face lit up, clearly happy with my choice of company.

"Eve, don’t hide behind me, quickly greet Christian," Mrs. Lombardi lightly scolded.

She took a step forward and extended her arm, "It’s so nice to see you."

I accepted her hand, placing a quick kiss as a greeting. Tonight she was dressed immaculately, clearly as the star of the night.

On the invitations, everyone was asked to wear dark colors for the ’starry night’ theme, so Eve’s cream colored sparkly gown glowed in the room.

Zach couldn’t keep his eyes off of her the entire time, causing me to laugh internally.

This man needs to settle down soon.

"Christian, I’m sure you’ve already heard, but tonight we’re hosting KASS’s season launch on their new clothing line." Mr. Lombardi finally walked over and extended his hand, giving a firm handshake.

I nodded, returning his greeting. "Indeed, I’m very much looking forward to it".

Both Mrs. Lombardi and Eve smiled at my answer.

He finally let go of my hand and looked at me with his usual furrowed expression, "Speaking of season launches. Sofia should be announcing its season launch here shortly, correct?"

Ah, it begins.

"Yes, it should be very shortly. We’ve already chosen the jeweler, everything is on schedule," I replied with a soft smile.

He nodded, opening his mouth to ask another question, but Eve beat him to it, "Will it be Lorenzo? He’s gotten so popular thanks to the back-to-back collaborations with Sophia!"

Lorenzo again? Why does he always seem to pop up everywhere?

Not wanting to give the element of surprise away, I simply smiled, "You’ll just have to wait and see. I promise you won’t be disappointed with this season’s designs."

I had all the faith in the world in Leslie. From all of the work she’s put in thus far, I can tell this season launch will stun the world.

Eve blushed at my answer, nodding while slipping a few strands of her long blonde hair behind her ear.

"Forgive me for intruding, but we’ve run into a small problem!"

A woman in a suit walked over, doing her best to deliver the news discreetly.

Mr. Lombardi frowned, "Out with it. What’s the problem?"

The woman nervously looked around, "Two of the models for tonight’s show have just called in sick. We might not be able to show all of tonight’s pieces..."

Eve looked at her father nervously, "Dad...this is my show, I don’t want anything to go wrong."

She snuck a glance at me, thinking that I didn’t notice.

"Hmm, let me think," answered Mr. Lombardi, nodding to his daughter.

The next moment, the quiet hall began to buzz with chatter, causing the Lombardis to turn their attention to the entrance.

"What are they doing here?!" Mrs. Lombardi nearly flew into a rage.

Eve began to scrunch the skirt of her dress while staring angrily at the entrance.

Mr. Lombardi noticed the two uninvited guests but kept his cool, glancing over at me. "Why are you two making such a fuss?! Quickly, invite them over!"

My eyes traveled across the room to where she was standing. She was so stunning that I forgot to breathe.

She quietly looked around the room, staying one step behind her sister.

Every part of me wanted to run over to her side and kiss her until I lost control.

You’re already losing control. Christian, chill.

I forced myself to look away so that I didn’t lose myself completely. Thankfully, Morgan attracted so much attention that no one noticed my distressed state.

"Hmm. I see what you mean now. She definitely likes to make her presence known," whispered Zach as he looked at the new arrivals.

Even Liam nodded, "Well, she’s certainly not ugly."

I looked at Mr. Lombardi, "Sir, I may have a solution to your model problem. What do you think of letting the Moresi ladies fill in?"
