Chapter 47: Cheering Her Up 2 [Christian POV]
I waited for about two minutes before a well-kept man walked over. "Sir, the kitchen just finished packing your order. Would you like us to help carry it to your car?"
My initial reaction was to decline, but when I saw how many boxes there were, I quickly agreed.
The kitchen staff, along with the manager, all carried the boxes of food into my car.
"Thank you for choosing our restaurant. Here is the receipt for today’s order." The manager bowed and handed over a small slip of paper.
I glanced at it quickly before slipping it into my pocket.
Only $563.23? Maybe I should have ordered a few more dishes...
I decided to hurry back. Leslie was hungry, and I wanted to deliver the food while it was still hot.
I’ll just order extra for lunch today.
With my thoughts sorted, I made my way back to the company.
-
As soon as I parked the car, I realized that I had a small problem.
How am I going to carry all of this?
I pulled out my phone to message Blake, but at that moment, I heard the elevator doors open behind me.
"Sir, you’ve arrived earlier than expected. I brought a small cart to help bring the food up," said Blake as he approached from the elevator.
This wasn’t the first time I was grateful to have Blake by my side. He was forward-thinking and detail-oriented, often helping me out when I overlooked smaller details.
"Thank you, Blake. You’re a lifesaver, I was just about to send you a message."
Blake smiled, "This is what you pay me the big bucks for. I’m glad that you find me useful."
"You know I consider you a friend, Blake. You can drop the formalities," I laughed, patting him on the shoulder.
He smiled, nodding. "I know, I remember the days when you were just starting out, we had our fair share of troubles back then."
"Yes, back then you saved me more than once from making a complete fool of myself!" I laughed, remembering the early days of Vittoria Global.
With Blake’s help, we quickly transferred all of the packaged food to the cart and carried it upstairs.
On our way up, Blake looked at me, "Oh, the flowers you requested arrived early. Do you want them now, or do you want me to hold onto them?"
"I’ll take them now. Bring them to my office, please," I said.
Hopefully, breakfast and flowers will cheer her up a little bit.
While Blake went to his office to retrieve the flowers, I quickly set up the food on the coffee table in my office. It was only then that I realized just how much food I had ordered.
Beautiful boxes of food were stacked all over the table, leaving no room for anything else.
"Looks like I’ll have to leave a few boxes on the cart or something," I said, looking around.
"Haha, let me help you there, boss," chuckled Blake as he entered my office.
He placed the large bouquet of peonies on my desk and expertly rearranged the boxes, placing the food on porcelain platters that he seemingly pulled out of thin air.
All of the food fit into five platters, and looked much more appealing than when they were in the take-out boxes.
"Thanks, you really have a knack for this," I said as I admired his handiwork.
Blake smiled and shook his head, "Thank you, but it’s simply experience. I do this for almost all of your meals."
I thought of all of the past meals I’ve had in my office. They were always tastefully served on platters or plates.
I’ll have to remember to up his bonus this quarter. He’s done a lot more for me than I realized.
"Enjoy your meal, let me know if there’s anything else you require," said Blake before walking towards the door.
"Oh, there is one thing," I said, thinking back to my meeting from earlier. "I need you to check into the designer Lorenzo and his ties to our company. Those three headaches kept pushing me to make sure he gets selected, I want to know why."
Blake nodded, showing a knowing smile. He knew exactly who the ’three headaches’ were.
"I’ll get right on it," he said and walked out of my office.
-
Without wasting any more time, I walked over to Leslie’s office using my pocket door.
She was glued to the computer, like earlier, but this time she seemed to be closely inspecting something.
Even after I walked up to her desk, she still didn’t notice my presence. The small tray of snacks was almost half gone.
Poor thing really was starving.
I cleared my throat to get her attention, "Leslie."
She nearly jumped out of her seat and looked up at me with her beautiful hazel green eyes.
"Christian! You’re back! Hello," she smiled while calming herself.
I lost myself in her eyes for a moment and leaned over to place a kiss on her lips.
Patience, Christian!
I yelled at myself for nearly losing control and giving in to my desires. The sway she had over me was something I didn’t know was possible.
Pulling away, I held out both of my hands, "Come. I have something for you."
She looked up at me with her misty eyes before placing her hands on top of mine. I led her back into my office, where she gasped.
"Oh, Christian! You’ve prepared a whole feast!"
Smiling, I motioned for her to have a seat, "Come, let’s eat before it gets cold."
Her eyes wandered around the table, looking at all of the trays. A big smile appeared as she began to fill her plate with various dishes.
Looks like she has a sweet tooth. I’ll have to keep that in mind for the future.
Most of the items she chose consisted of sweets and pastries on top of the three stack of pancakes.
But before he dug in, I noticed her gazing at me, waiting for me to fill my plate.
I wasn’t particularly hungry and reached out to take a sip of my black coffee while I scanned the table for something to eat.
From the corner of my eye, I spotted a simple breakfast bagel.
Perfect, this is exactly what I want.
Seeing that I had made my choice, Leslie finally dug in, humming from happiness.
