Secretly Mine
Chapter 32: Workplace Commotion

Chapter 32: Workplace Commotion

The next morning, I woke up earlier than usual. My excitement, coupled with going to bed early, caused me to wake up naturally before the sun even came up.

I decided to use this extra time to put more effort into my appearance and sat down in front of the mirror, meticulously curling my hair.

I wonder what sort of hairstyles Christian prefers.

The gold chain rested on the counter in front of me, bringing me joy and comfort. I glanced at it occasionally, in between curls, and thought of Christian.

A soft knock on my door brought me out of my daydreams.

"Second Miss, the Madame sent a message saying that she has not prepared anything specific today due to a delay from the tailors. She asks that you choose something appropriate from your closet."

I lowered the hot curling iron, slightly surprised.

"Understood! Thank you for relaying the message," I called out.

After the maid left, I returned to curling my hair while thinking about what to wear. Since this was a rare occasion where I was allowed to pick what I wanted, I had to make the most of it.

Maybe the black pencil skirt? That way I can wear the thigh-high stockings with it...

My cheeks flushed at the thought, I wondered if Christian would like seeing me in thigh-high stockings.

I quickly finished curling my hair and walked over to the walk-in closet to try on a few different outfits.

What should have taken me only a few minutes lasted well over an hour, leaving my closet a complete mess.

I looked at myself in the mirror, happy with the result. Outwardly, I looked elegant in a black pin stripe pencil skirt and jacket with a cream colored blouse, but on the inside, I was wearing my best black lace bra with matching panties.

Unfortunately, I didn’t own any real lingerie and wasn’t able to really dress up like I wanted to, but the black bra and panties were good enough.

-

The clock on my nightstand dinged, telling me that I was running late. After one final look in the mirror, I slipped Christian’s gold chain into the pocket of my jacket and walked out of my room.

I noticed my mother waiting for me down the hallway, by the entrance to our mansion.

"Leslie! There you are! You need to be more punctual, but I see you finally spent some time on your hair," she chastised me while her eyes scanned me up and down.

"A bit dark for my taste, but the outfit is elegant. Good choice of jacket," she finally said, letting me leave the house.

I quickly made my way to the car that was waiting for me outside. As I was getting into the back seat, I heard my mother call out to me once more, "Make sure you invite Christian for dinner tonight!"

"I will", I replied as the driver closed the door for me.

The drive into the city this time felt very different. We drove through the familiar city, passing the same streets and stores, but instead of the usual longing, I felt a sense of excitement.

My mind was filled with thoughts of Christian and my new project, wondering what sort of things I would experience today.

The usual long drive into the city felt like a momentary flash, and before I had a chance to come back to reality, we were already parked in front of the towering, black office building.

"I will be back at the usual time, Second Miss." The driver opened my door with a respectful smile.

"Thank you", I nodded and walked into the building.

There was a lot more action in the lobby, with many people sitting in the waiting area, as well as groups of employees dressed in suits, waiting by the elevators.

I smiled as I walked by the professionals, heading straight for the leftmost elevator.

However, the moment I pressed the button to call the elevator down, I noticed that everyone turned to look at me.

"That’s the CEO’s personal elevator. Is she new? Should someone tell her?"

Whispered sounds surrounded me, causing me to look around nervously. I wasn’t used to being at the center of attention; in fact, I avoided it at all costs.

After a few moments, a good-looking man in a black suit walked over to me.

"Miss, are you new here? The elevator you’re standing in front of is the CEO’s personal elevator. Only a select few have access to it. You’re welcome to join us in the next elevator," he explained kindly.

I felt slightly flustered, unsure of how to explain myself.

"Ah, thank you very much, but I believe th--"

Just as I tried to explain, the elevator doors opened in front of me, shocking the man and everyone else in the area.

"It actually opened. Who is she? I’ve never seen her before."

"Is she the CEO’s woman?"

"Maybe she’s a new secretary."

The crowd erupted into a buzzing chatter, and their discussions all surrounded me.

The man next to me took a step back, looking embarrassed. "Forgive me, Miss. I wasn’t aware that you knew the CEO. Have a good day."

He walked back to join his coworkers, looking over at me as I stepped into the elevator.

Well, that was slightly awkward. I should ask Christian how I should answer in that situation.

-

I took a step forward, bumping into a broad chest. The scent alone made me realize who it was, without even needing to look up.

"Christian?"

He wrapped his arms around me, "You came sooner than I expected. I was just heading downstairs to greet you."

I thought of the commotion I had already caused this morning just by using Christian’s elevator, and couldn’t imagine what it would have been like if he came down to personally greet me.

"Wouldn’t that cause too much chaos? I think I already started a number of rumors by simply using your elevator," I said, looking up at him.

Christian led me to his office and smiled, "What’s wrong with a little chaos? It’ll make their lives more interesting, don’t you think?"

"But wouldn’t that be a bother to you?"

"Haha! Sunshine, if I let something as small as that bother me, I would have never made it to where I am today," laughed Christian.

As soon as we entered his office, I noticed bags and boxes of all shapes and colors resting on the table in front of the sofas.

I looked over curiously but didn’t pry.

Maybe he’s prepared gifts for his staff.

Christian tapped me on my back with his hand, "Aren’t you going to open it?"

My eyes widened as I turned my head to look up at him.

"These are for me?"

Christian laughed once more, blinding me with his smile.

"Yes, who else? Go on! Open it!"

There were at least a dozen bags and even more boxes. I don’t think I’ve ever received this many gifts at once in my life, especially not for no reason.

I took a step forward, reaching out to open the small pink box closest to me.

Wow!

My hands trembled. I turned to look at Christian, "It’s beautiful."
