Secretly Mine
Chapter 112: Auction Event 3

Chapter 112: Auction Event 3

"We have a lot of interested bidders! We are up to eighteen million! Bidder 192!" the MC announced.

"Eighteen million?!" Morgan pouted, unsure if she could continue to bid.

I wasn’t sure how much of a spending limit Father gave her, but it seemed like she was coming close to the top. To be honest, I was already surprised that he gave her that much already.

She hit the bid button one more time and looked down at the MC with hopeful eyes. I followed along and looked down at the stage to see if anyone had won yet.

On the stage, the MC was reading from his tablet, then looked up at the crowd.

"Twenty Million! Do we have any other takers?"

Morgan looked like she was about to burst into tears. It was a good thing that Christian sat in front because if not, she most likely would have begged for money.

After a few more bids, the price went up to over twenty-five million, making it a record-breaking amount of money that a piece of jewelry had been sold for.

The guests tonight must be foreign royalty or something. There’s no way that there are so many billionaires here in our country.

"Twenty-six million! Going once, going twice....SOLD! Bidder 73! Congratulations!" the MC clapped on stage while talking up the audience.

There was a short intermission to allow the audience to use the restrooms or get more refreshments while the workers prepared the next sale.

If I remembered correctly, the last item of the main collection was the tiara. After that, there were only secondary pairs of earrings that were made with the leftover gemstones, which weren’t as ornate as the originals.

A waitress walked into our booth carrying a few more bottles of champagne. Christian managed to get Karl to down two whole bottles so far, which was probably why he was so quiet.

I quickly passed Christian the new bottles, fully supporting his decision if he decided to continue to get Karl drunk. In fact, I wished that Karl would get so drunk that he’d completely black out and not be able to function.

Christian accepted the bottles, nodding slightly. He first offered to pour Morgan a drink, hoping to calm her. She looked like she was ready to break out crying at any moment due to the fact that she lost the bid.

She accepted the drink, downing it in one go. I looked over at her, amused yet surprised that she would be so unladylike in front of her prince charming.

She must really be devastated from losing the bid...

All of the commotion in our booth caused Karl to look around and mumble. His eyes were fully glazed over, and the words coming out of his mouth were incoherent. Christian shoved another glass of champagne into his hands, shutting him up.

The lights dimmed, indicating that the event was about to resume. The hall quieted down, and everyone turned their attention back to the stage. This time, in addition to the thousands of roses, there was a throne-like chair.

Sitting on top of the chair was a very beautiful model. She had very long hair, cascading all the way down to the floor, and was wearing a beautiful dress that had a slight historic flair.

I heard a few whispers echo through the hall. People were discussing what the next piece could be based on the setup.

"Our dear guests! I mentioned earlier that this collection had two signature pieces that were meant to serve as tonight’s highlights! The necklace was the first, and this next item is the second! I assure you, this item will be the talk of the year, an heirloom passed down through generations!"

The MC’s words were so engaging that even I felt my heart pounding in my chest from excitement.

"I present to you.... The Crown of the Queen of Thorns!"

Two shadowy figures appeared behind the throne, holding the beautiful tiara above the model’s head. They were fully dressed in black, even wearing black gloves, making it appear as if the crown was floating.

Like with the necklace, the crowd went silent. Morgan even stood up to get a better look, unable to tear her eyes away.

"This tiara consists of over thirty intricately carved sapphires that form a blooming rose at the center, and hundreds of rare diamonds and black diamonds. The metal work is immaculate, imitating rose stems!"

Everyone in the crowd listened to the description carefully while looking up at the ’floating’ crown on the stage. The model did a wonderful job portraying herself as a regal and mysterious queen, giving everyone the impression that they, too, can be a queen with this crown.

"Without further delay, let’s start the bidding! The starting amount is ten million!"

Ten million?!

My eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. I never expected a single piece to sell for ten million, but now the starting bid was ten million.

Just how much money is this season launch going to make?

I did research into past events, and their projected sales were always around five to ten million, total. I wasn’t sure why this time things were so different.

Morgan’s furious tapping brought me out of my thoughts. I watched her from the corner of my eye, waiting for the glass screen to break from how furiously she was tapping it.

I pulled out my tablet and pretended to place a bid because I noticed her glancing over at me.

"Don’t bother. That crown is mine. I’m going to wear it on my wedding day!" she hissed.

I broke out into a big smile, "Then focus up, you won’t win anything if you don’t put in a bid!"

She glared at me but turned her attention back to the tablet. For the next ten minutes, she continued tapping the screen while occasionally glancing at the tiara on stage.

I simply sat back, sipping on my glass of champagne and enjoying the mystical music that was being played. The only thing that would make the evening more enjoyable would be if it were just me and Christian sitting in this booth.

I pictured a scenario where both of us were sitting comfortably on one of these couches. I would be leaning against him as he peppered kisses down my neck. Before I knew it, my thoughts were wandering into certain romantic scenarios, causing my body to heat up.

Christian glanced over at me at this exact moment. I wasn’t sure if he could sense my desire for him or if it was just a coincidence, but his eyes carried a very specific emotion: lust.
