Chapter 552 She Knows the Whole Truth
Chapter 552: Chapter 552 She Knows the Whole Truth
Frankie explained, "She is my leader’s ex-wife."
The commander asked, "Irrelevant people in the building have already been evacuated. How come she is still inside?"
"I don’t know either. I can only have the answer after I reach out to her. I took the liberty of coming to you, because even after contacting Mrs. Wolseley, I still need to agree with you on how to proceed."
After the commander checked the satellite information, he confirmed that the person that Frankie had mentioned was indeed in the building.
The military got a tip-off two hours ago. Rod, the Bloodthirsty Knight responsible for many lives, was inside Rosewood Hotel.
They got their hands on the general picture of the ones in the hotel right away. Fortunately, the crowd had been evacuated without danger.
At first, they wanted the reporter to evacuate as well.
However, the reporter told them that it was too late and that Rod was coming for him.
He would stay inside and assist them in capturing Rod.
The commander figured that everything had been arranged. It never occurred to him that Rod managed to plant explosives in the hotel right under their noses. How arrogant!
Now the reporter, who was still inside, was in danger.
The situation was urgent, and no time could be wasted.
After he verified Frankie’s background, he said without hesitation, "Make the call."
Frankie made the satellite phone call.
Yvette’s phone was specially made. In special times, using satellite detection could locate the phone. Also, satellite phone calls could be made without interference.
The phone rang for a long time.
Yet no one answered.
In the room, Yvette was covering her ears and squatting in the triangle between the corner of the bed and the wall.
The explosion just now was so loud that it almost shattered her eardrums.
She was glad that she had been sleeping, and there was the room and the quilt that separated her from the explosion. Otherwise, she might have fainted from the shock, and her life might have been in danger.
After the aftermath passed, the air was filled with the smell of smoke.
Yvette at once felt that it wasn’t an earthquake.
In the afternoon, she was watching TV in her room. After Charlie showed up, the scene was suddenly cut off.
Although Yvette knew that the wedding would be held in the hotel, she did not have the courage to watch it on the spot.
Besides, the man did not welcome her either. He clearly forbade her to return home.
Her transfer this time was the only option she had. She did not want to cause trouble and obediently stayed in the room to sleep.
She slept until almost night. Then she was awakened by the sound of the explosion. She figured it was an earthquake, so she quickly ran out of bed to the triangle area.
After everything quieted down for a while, she got up and saw the phone on the bed vibrating.
At the last second of the vibration, she picked up the call.
"Hello?"
Frankie’s choked voice came from the other end of the line as he said, "Finally, you picked up..."
Yvette could tell that it was Frankie. She said with confusion, "Frankie?"
Frankie said directly, "Mr. Wolseley... Something happened to him."
Yvette didn’t say anything.
She didn’t understand. Wasn’t he getting married?
How could something have happened to him?
After Frankie explained everything to her as fast as he could, Yvette still failed to come back to her senses.
She thought, what? Lance has such a serious illness?
And it’s because the last time Yazmin injected him. Back then, he was trying to save me.
The injection was meant for me.
How ridiculous and unbelievable!
Has Lance been enduring it alone for so long?
For a moment, she was at a loss for what to do, and she was flustered all over.
It turned out that when he looked stooped earlier, it was not her illusion.
He was in so much pain he couldn’t continue to keep his back straight.
"Frankie, are you saying that he married Juliette to lure Rod and his men so that he could sweep them all away?"
"That’s my speculation," Frankie said truthfully.
After all, he did not know about Lance’s plan, since the latter told him nothing.
Yet everything was very plain and simple now. He could tell from Lance’s performance today and Lance’s arrangements for the guests to evacuate later.
Lance never meant it from the beginning. The wedding was just a decoy.
"You may not know, but you are on Rod’s hunting list now. I think Mr. Wolseley is doing this for you."
Yvette couldn’t utter a word.
In a split second, her heart sank greatly. She had suspected Lance’s intentions before.
She didn’t expect that the thing she least wanted to happen happened anyway.
Frankie said, "He did all these things just to pave your way. He was afraid that you’d be bullied without him around."
Frankie was close to Lance, and therefore empathy was easy to take place.
Frankie thought, Mr. Wolseley has done so much secretly, and he doesn’t want Ms. Thiel to know anything. It’s so unfair to him.
I feel bad for him.
I couldn’t care less now that I might be punished by him.
If he comes back, I’m willing to accept any kind of punishment, even if it means I’ll be blind or have broken legs.
Mr. Wolseley is such a great man. He doesn’t deserve to die, and he surely doesn’t deserve anything bad happening to him.
Yvette’s hand that was holding the phone froze.
She thought, how can this be?
How on earth can this be?
I don’t want to believe it, but there’s a voice deep down telling me that this is the real Lance.
This is the Lance that I know.
For a long time, Yvette did not make any sound.
Her mind was completely blank.
And she felt that her ears and mouth were blocked by something.
She only knew the whole truth till now. The truth had been within her reach, but she chose to turn a blind eye after being treated indifferently by him.
He took the poisonous injection for her. What was more, he arranged everything for her, including the matters after he was gone.
She was overwhelmed by all kinds of emotions, including shock and sadness, making her suffocate.
"Hello? Ms. Lynn? Hello? Are you there?" asked Frankie anxiously.
Yvette came back to her senses and said in a bit hoarse voice, "Yes, Frankie."
"Mr. Wolseley is still in the building. We don’t know the situation inside, including the type of explosives installed, so we can’t make a move."
"So, what do you want me to do?" Yvette responded very quickly and asked directly.
"And another thing. Can you check for me if Oliver is inside or not?" asked Yvette.
She remembered that Oliver was in the next room, but something must have happened, since she hadn’t seen Oliver for a long time, so she asked Frankie just to be sure.
"Rest assured. Mr. Holmes is outside. He was forced to evacuate when he came out to change the plane tickets. I just reassured him and asked him to wait for you to come out."
Frankie bumped into Oliver, which was the reason why Frankie knew that Marlon had activated the satellite function on Yvette’s phone.
Otherwise, they would not have been able to contact her.
The same went for Lance’s phone, yet Rod’s interference device was very advanced and successfully stopped the satellite from working.
Frankie was glad that Rod’s interference device was limited by distance, and therefore they reached Yvette.
Yvette was relieved when she heard that Oliver was already outside.
Then someone else spoke to Yvette, "Hello, Ms. Thiel. I am the person in charge this time. You can call me Commander Lambert."
"Commander Lambert, what should I do?"
Braxton Lambert admired Yvette’s intelligence and said, "We need to know how many people there are and the model of explosives. It’s a difficult task, but this is Universal Port, and there are so many residents and workers here. It’s impossible to evacuate them in a short while.
"So, we need to know what type of explosives he used, so we can work out how powerful it is and how far it will spread, and make the evacuation more effective."
Yvette was silent, and Braxton knew that it was a bit difficult for her.
He was worried that if they forced their way in, the bandits inside would detonate in advance. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have asked a woman to do such a thing.
Yet he would still give her the right to choose.
Braxton said, "If you don’t want to, you can say no. Then try to make your way to the place we told you about. We will definitely help you get out..."
Before Braxton could finish speaking, Yvette answered with extreme determination.
"OK!"
She knew Universal Port was a financial port with a dense population. It was indeed difficult to evacuate the crowd.
The consequences of not knowing the number of explosives might lead to innocent civilians being implicated.
"I will fulfill the task."
Braxton said, "Thank you. Rod has been a criminal for many years. He is an international criminal. This time, we will definitely stop him and capture him."
Yvette nodded and said, "I believe in America’s Secret Service agents."
"I’m sending you a containment map now, and you should go to the highlighter. That’s where the bomb is."
"OK." After hanging up the phone, Yvette left her bag in the room, took a phone pouch, put her phone inside, and hung the pouch around her neck.
When she reached the door, she tried to pull it open only to find that the door was locked.
Who locked her in the room?
She tried a few more times but still could not open it.
She wanted to find something that could open the door. When she came to the bathroom and saw the pipeline, she suddenly had an idea.
She lay on her stomach and tapped on the pipeline seven times in total, including four long ones and three short ones.
It was the modified Morse code Lance had taught her. It was asking, "Someone out there?"
The code had been modified by them already, so Yvette was not afraid of being heard by others.
Even if someone else heard the sound, they wouldn’t know what it meant. Only Lance would understand.
Unfortunately, she heard no response.
Yvette did not give up and tried the same thing again.
After a long time, there was still no reply.
Disappointed, she held her hands on the ground and prepared to leave.
Suddenly, she heard two short and muffled knocks.
She immediately squatted down and waited for a few more seconds. Sure enough, there were two more knocks.
He was saying, "I am here."
Yvette was so excited that she was about to cry. She quickly knocked on the pipeline to respond.
Yvette asked, "How many of them are there?"
Lance replied, "Three."
Without waiting for her to respond, he tapped on the pipeline eleven times in total, including five long ones and six short ones.
He was telling her, "Don’t take risks."
Yvette replied, "OK."
Lance said, "Take care of yourself."
Hearing that, Yvette felt the urge to cry again, and her eyes turned red.
She hated herself. She thought, I was so close to the truth. Why did I pull back?
Why couldn’t I just take one more step?
If so, I would have known how much he was suffering...
Unfortunately, there are no ifs in the world.
Just as Yvette wiped her tears and was about to respond to him, she suddenly heard footsteps coming from upstairs.
She immediately became alert. Ever since she was pregnant, her hearing had been particularly sharp.
She remembered that Frankie had said that all the people in the building had been evacuated.
The only ones left were her, Juliette, Lance, Rod, and Rod’s men.
The tapping sound was like the kind of sound that high-top ankle boots made.
In other words, it might be Rod’s men.
Yvette turned nervous at once.
After searching around, she came to the balcony and found that the next room’s balcony window happened to be left open.
The distance between the two balconies was only about five palms, which any adult could climb over.
Not even a second could be wasted. Yvette climbed up, but then she thought of her luggage, so she turned back and stuffed all the things she had into the suitcase.
Then she pushed the heavy suitcase to the balcony, lifted it, and threw it across.
She did not have many things, so she finished the whole thing easily.
Fortunately, there was a blanket on the balcony floor, so she didn’t cause a lot of noise.
After Yvette climbed into the opposite room, she felt that the sound of footsteps was already so close to her.
In the next second, she heard a sound.
"Clang!"
The door of the room she had been in was kicked open.
Yvette quietly stowed away her suitcase and looked around to see where she could hide.
However, the hotel rooms were open-sided, and there was nowhere for her to hide.
At the same time, Rod, who was in the next room, was looking for anyone in the room.
The second he entered the room, he saw that the room was empty, and he figured that Juliette was lying to him.
But in the next second, he saw the wrinkled sheets. It was a seven-star hotel room, and the sheets wouldn’t have been wrinkled if there weren’t guests staying here earlier.
Yet Rod also wondered if it was possible that someone else, instead of the woman Juliette mentioned, had been staying in the room.
After checking every corner, Rod stepped onto the balcony.
He found that the balcony window of Room 8019 could be pushed open, but the balcony window of the next room was closed.
Immediately, the strong sense of vigilance gave him a whiff of excitement.
He whistled, went out of Room 8019, and walked to Room 8020 next door.
He kicked the door open again, as violent as ever.
After entering the room, he tapped on the floor deliberately, and his footsteps sounded dull.
It sounded like he was deliberately stepping on someone’s heart.
"Hello..."
As Rod walked, he whistled, looking very pleased with himself.
"Hi there, baby, stop hiding.
"I miss you so much, baby."
His gentle voice was filled with an unknown horror.
There was still no answer in the spacious room.
At the end of his search, he stood before the cabinet, confident that the woman must be hidden in it.
Because it was the only cabinet that wasn’t closed.
He reached and yanked open the cabinet door. "Baby, we meet again..."
