Chapter 509: Chapter 509 What Do You Want to Hear?
"I know, Lance. I will not do that again."
Juliette dared not offend Lance.
Why did she have an obsession with making the Wolseley family accept the child?
She had publicized the child and would not allow the lie to be exposed.
Whosever the child was, as long as it could be named after Wolseley, it had its value.
Lance was taking advantage of Juliette. In Juliette’s opinion, they were taking advantage of each other.
Why was Juliette at large after doing everything?
She left no evidence.
Someone was suspicious of Juliette on the matters of Yazmin and Tanya.
However, they had no evidence to prove that Juliette did it. Even if Tanya came around, there was no evidence to prove it was related to Juliette.
As long as there was no evidence, Juliette was innocent.
No one could do anything to her.
After Lance left, Juliette calmly dusted herself down and resumed her arrogant manner.
As she walked, a heart-wrenching pain came from her toes. She almost cursed out.
...
In the next few days, Yvette mostly finished her work.
Because of Lance’s return, many difficulties had been easily solved.
Another good news was Tanya had come around.
Although Tanya couldn’t speak, she had broken through the first hurdle.
Yvette wanted to visit Tanya, but Lance didn’t allow anyone to visit her.
Yvette decided not to cause trouble for Lance.
Lance had his reason for doing that.
After the day at the restaurant, Yvette had not received any news from Lance. She thought she should do something.
Lance was trying to distance himself from Yvette. It was impossible for him to take the initiative, and Yvette did not want to be passive.
She would strive for her happiness.
Yvette heard Lance would attend a banquet, and she also had the invitation.
Yvette chose a dress. Its flounce at the waist covered her waist.
In fact, her worry was unnecessary. She was in the early stage of pregnancy, and her belly was flat. It was hard to find out she was pregnant.
On her way, Yvette browsed the news. She paid special attention to entertainment news.
Although Juliette was in contact with Lance, there was no news about them except that Juliette forced Tanya to admit the unborn child belonged to the Wolseley family.
Juliette believed Lance did not like Juliette. He didn’t love Juliette before. Therefore, he had no reason to fall in love with her after he was revived.
However, Yvette had to give Lance up if he made an official announcement. No matter what the reason was.
She had children, not only Isabel.
She could not allow herself to be treated as a despicable mistress. Even if it was not true, she could not.
The light outside was dim. Yvette clenched her fists. She was determined to prove to Lance that she could not only enjoy the beautiful scenery but also confront the storm with him.
After entering the venue, Yvette looked around and did not see Lance. On the contrary, she saw several senior executives.
Yvette held a glass of drink. She explained that she could not drink for physical reasons.
Those people knew Yvette was not a saleswoman, so they did not make things difficult for her.
After a long while, Yvette’s feet were gradually sore.
She dared not sit down and kept looking at the gate. She wondered whether Lance would come.
Yvette waited all night, but Lance did not show up.
Then, Yvette knew Lance sent a representative instead of attending the banquet in person.
The representative was one of the higher-ups of the Wolseley Group, and Frankie drove him over.
When Yvette saw Frankie, she hurriedly stopped him.
She asked straightforwardly, "Frankie, where is Lance?"
Frankie was stunned. He answered without thinking, "At the company."
"Therefore, he is not busy."
Frankie scratched his head. "He is busy at the company."
"He didn’t come because he knew I was here, did he?" Yvette asked.
Frankie looked away and temporized, "How could that be?"
Yvette was not stupid.
Lance did not attend the banquet because he knew Yvette would be there.
Was he trying to avoid her?
Yvette felt a sharp pain in her heart. She endured the pain and did not make things difficult for Frankie. "Alright, I have no more questions."
Frankie breathed a sigh of relief and walked away immediately.
Yvette could not stay longer at the banquet and returned to her car in frustration.
She felt the pain in her heart, her feet, and everywhere in her body.
After thinking for a while, Yvette made up her mind to see Lance.
She had to know what Lance was thinking.
Therefore, Yvette took action.
Before she left, she had the driver bring her a glass of wine. She poured it on herself and applied some blush.
She looked like a drunk beauty.
When they arrived at the Wolseley Group, Yvette burnt her bridges by telling the driver to leave.
"Ms. Lynn, are you sure you don’t need me to wait for you?" the driver asked repeatedly.
"Yes. Someone else will send me home." Yvette took the snacks packed from the banquet with her and walked into the express elevator confidently.
After trying the password, she found the password of the express elevator had not changed.
As the elevator rise, Yvette became nervous. However, she would not retreat.
She decided to tough it out.
There were no others in the building of the Wolseley Group. Only the lights of the president’s office were on.
Yvette walked to the door and thought about what to say so as not to be awkward.
She summoned up her courage and pushed the door open. Then, she shouted, "Surprise!"
The room was silent.
Lance, who was in front of his desk, and the two senior executives beside him all looked at Yvette in confusion.
Yvette did not expect Lance to be busy.
The two senior executives didn’t know Yvette.
Thinking Yvette was Lance’s close friend, they were about to leave.
Lance cast a cold glance at Yvette. Yvette looked down guiltily and said, "Please go ahead. I’ll wait inside."
Then, she went into the inner room with the snacks.
How could Yvette go back?
Since she was there, she would not leave without any gains.
Yvette didn’t expect Lance to have a long meeting.
She felt sleepy. She sat on the sofa at first. Gradually, she fell asleep on it.
She was uncomfortable on the sofa.
When Yvette was half-asleep and lifted her eyelids, she saw a tall figure standing in front of her.
In an instant, Yvette felt she had returned to the past.
She naturally reached out and put her arm around Lance’s neck. She said coquettishly, "You’ve finally come. I’ve been waiting for you for a long time."
Lance was stunned, and his hands did not move.
Yvette rubbed her head against Lance’s chest. The familiar scent made her feel at ease.
The next second, there came a cold voice. "Get up."
Yvette woke with a start.
She had taken reality as a dream.
After being dumbfounded for a moment, Yvette remembered her purpose for being there. She wanted to be reconciled with Lance.
Although she was pretending to be drunk, she would not waste the opportunity.
Thinking of that, she became even bolder. She twined her arms around Lance’s neck and said, "No, unless..."
Yvette hooked Lance’s calf with her leg and said seductively, "Unless you carry me up."
Lance compressed his lips and stared at Yvette for a long time. There seemed to be conflicting emotions in his deep-set eyes.
The alcohol smell made Yvette somewhat intoxicated.
At that moment, her heart thumped wildly, and she felt she was drunk.
Otherwise, how could the man she missed so much appear before her?
Yvette hadn’t felt his firm and powerful chest for a long time. And she hadn’t held him tightly for a long time.
Yvette’s eyes were filled with tears of gratitude. Lance was back.
Even if there were setbacks, she was grateful.
Lance was still alive.
"Lance, thank you. You’re back."
Yvette wanted to cry hard in his arms and tell him how much she missed him.
However, Lance said in an indescribable sharp tone, "Get up if you’ve had enough acting."
His words were like ice water splashed onto Yvette’s face. Yvette’s arms stiffened for a few seconds before dropping straight down.
"The Wolseley Group is not a market. Ms. Lynn, please do not come here at will."
Lance fixed his deep-set eyes on Yvette. His pressure overwhelmed Yvette.
"Including this room. Do you understand?" Lance asked cruelly.
After a day of hard work, all Yvette got was Lance’s heartlessness. Yvette felt deeply wronged.
She looked up into his eyes. "You said I could go in and out at will, including this room."
"Let bygones be bygones."
Lance stood straight and chuckled. "How could you believe a man’s words when he was impulsive? Ms. Lynn, you are so naive."
"Lance, you said that to provoke me so that I would leave."
Yvette looked at Lance, who was indifferent, and said firmly, "I won’t leave."
"To provoke you?"
Lance glanced at Yvette coldly. "Ms. Lynn, you think highly of yourself..."
...
Suddenly, Lance’s cold lips were covered by warm lips.
Yvette became mutinous.
Lance resisted her. What about her body?
Yvette threw her arms around Lance’s neck and raised her face to kiss him passionately.
Lance’s lips were cold. Yvette did what he used to do and stuck out her tongue to pry his lips.
Lance refused to open his mouth, so Yvette bit him like a crazed animal.
When the taste of blood spread in his mouth, Lance suddenly realized something and pushed Yvette away.
The blood made Lance’s lips no longer cold and became bewitching.
Yvette looked at Lance without fear and did not want to give in.
"Thirty seconds.
"Lance, you gave me thirty seconds and didn’t push me away."
Yvette said, "Dare you say that you don’t love me? Dare you say you hate me?"
If Lance didn’t love Yvette, he wouldn’t endure her for three seconds.
He wouldn’t allow her to contaminate him.
Lance compressed his lips and remained silent.
Yvette clenched her fists tightly to encourage herself. "I don’t know what kind of problem you have encountered. If you push me away, don’t you think you are arbitrary? Why do you think I need your protection? We have experienced so many hardships. Our willpower should be firmer than anyone else’s. I can withstand any difficulty."
Yvette ignored the coldness on Lance’s face and held his hand.
"Lance, we have experienced life and death. What else can’t we overcome?"
Lance was no longer expressionless when he heard that. However, he became sarcastic.
He narrowed his eyes. "Ms. Lynn, you are someone of stature. How can you be so shameless?"
Lance’s words were hurtful to Yvette.
Yvette looked cool, but her self-esteem was high.
She restricted herself to rules and regulations. And she couldn’t withstand any humiliation.
If it were not for Lance, she would have left. However, she remembered him driving a car full of explosives without fear.
Thinking of that, Yvette believed she shouldn’t leave because she must be responsible.
Yvette clenched her hands and said with determination, "I had been ready to be humiliated by you before I came here. You can deceive others but don’t try to deceive me."
"Well..." Lance chuckled.
His eyes were brooding and arrogant.
"It’s common that a man no longer loves a woman. Ms. Lynn, why do you insist on asking me for a reason?"
Lance said slowly as if he could easily see through the person in front of him. "What do you want to hear? Why don’t you tell me?"
"Lance, can you tell me the truth?" Yvette’s hands trembled.
She wanted to convince herself that her insistence was right.
"I have told you the truth."
Lance shattered Yvette’s hope with his slow and clear voice. "If you only accept the truth you believe, you can continue to lie to yourself."
Lance picked up the suit on the sofa and slowly put it on. When he was about to leave, he suddenly turned around and looked at Yvette fixedly.
"By the way, delusion is a disease. Ms. Lynn, you’d better see a psychologist."
Yvette’s face turned pale. She felt that her heart had been torn apart and that the pain had invaded her bones.
Lance was leaving. He didn’t want to stay in his office because Yvette was there.
Yvette clenched her fists and couldn’t help but ask, "If our love were as shallow as you described, why were you willing to die for me in the car filled with explosives?"
