Secretary's Secret Lover -
Chapter 508 Seafood Bisque
Chapter 508: Chapter 508 Seafood Bisque
Many thoughts whirled around in Yvette’s mind.
She kept telling herself Lance had his difficulties. She should not destroy her psychological defense before fighting.
"Ms. Lynn," Someone called Yvette.
It was whom Yvette would have made an appointment with. She happened to meet Yvette there.
Yvette forced a smile. "Ms. Lawson."
Amira Lawson was the leader of the media department. She had a pleasingly direct manner and got on well with Yvette.
Seeing Yvette’s pale face, Amira asked with concern, "Why aren’t you leaving? Are you feeling unwell?"
Yvette paused.
Someone who wasn’t familiar with her could see that.
Hadn’t Lance seen that?
Yvette did not believe it.
Lance had sharp eyes. It was impossible that he hadn’t seen her face.
However, he chose to turn a blind eye to Yvette. He did not want to care about her.
Amira asked with concern, "Shall we have an appointment another day? You’d better go to the hospital to have a check."
"I’m fine. Let’s go." Yvette came to her senses and forced a smile.
"What would you like?"
"Seafood bisque," Yvette said.
They arrived at the famous restaurant.
Fortunately, there were not many people.
The waiter asked what they wanted to order.
"Seafood bisque," Yvette said.
She wanted to taste the seafood bisque that Juliette mentioned.
The waiter said apologetically, "Sorry, it has been sold out today."
Amira was passionate and thoughtful. Since Yvette wanted to have the seafood bisque, Amira would try to fulfill her.
Amira pointed at the dish on the tray. "There are only two guests over there, but they have ordered a pot of bisque. Can they finish it? Can you ask them if they would like to share with us? We will pay you at the same price."
The bisque hadn’t been placed on the table. Otherwise, Amira wouldn’t have such a proposal.
Yvette looked over and saw Lance and Juliette. She did not expect him to have time to dine with Juliette.
When Yvette looked over, Juliette also looked up.
Juliette did not need to say anything. She had won by sitting beside Lance.
Yvette became depressed.
She encouraged herself not to give up the night before. However, she felt she could not hold on less than 24 hours later.
Yvette stopped Amira and shook her head. "Don’t bother. Let’s have it next time."
Amira also felt her request was somewhat strange, so she gave up.
After ordering some dishes, Amira and Yvette began to chat.
After a while, the waiter served a plate of fragrant seafood bisque. He smiled and said, "Hello, ladies. It is from the lady over there. Please rest assured. It was ladled into the plate before being put on the table."
Amira was stunned and said, "Please thank her on our behalf."
The waiter nodded and left.
Amira was sitting with her back to Juliette. She turned and smiled at Juliette to express her gratitude.
"People are enthusiastic. It’s better not to eat something from a stranger."
Amira became alert and pushed the seafood bisque aside. She didn’t want to reject other people’s kindness.
Yvette looked at the seafood bisque for a while and tasted it.
The tasty bisque was bitter to her.
It was not delicious.
Yvette looked up and saw Juliette smiling. It was harsh to Yvette.
Amira said, "The Wolseley Group said nothing, but its intention was obvious. Everyone should know..."
Yvette was in a trance and asked, "What did you say?"
Amira said casually, "I have asked many companies, including mine. All the businesses with the Wolseley Group were obstructed. And according to our judgment, the degree of obstruction was the same as what Lunarc had experienced."
Yvette became solemn and asked in a low voice, "Can you tell me in detail?"
"In fact, my company is fine. After all, we tried to solve the problem instead of making things difficult for Lunarc. According to our observation, the companies that had pressured Lunarc have shut down."
Amira got closer to Yvette and said, "We all believe that the Wolseley Group is trying to revenge for Lunarc. That’s why everyone changed."
Yvette’s mind was in a mess for a few seconds. She suddenly stood up and said, "Sorry, I’m going to make a call."
"Okay."
Yvette went to a secluded corner upstairs and called Frankie.
"Ms. Lynn, what can I do for you?"
Frankie used to address Yvette "Mrs. Wolseley", but he suddenly changed. Yvette knew who told him to do that.
She suppressed her disappointment and said calmly, "Frankie, I am calling to thank you. Thank you for helping me solve the aftermath of the theft of the materials."
"Ms. Lynn, I hadn’t done anything. Could it be a misunderstanding?" Frankie responded quickly.
Yvette pretended to be surprised and said, "Wasn’t it you? Marlon said those merchants yielded because of the Wolseley Group. If it was not you, could it be..."
Yvette was about to say "Lance".
Frankie panicked. "It was me. Ms. Lynn, don’t talk about it everywhere. If Mr. Wolseley finds out, I’ll be in trouble."
Frankie made Lance have nothing to do with everything.
He was afraid Lance to be involved.
"I know. Don’t you know me? I won’t talk about it." Yvette compressed her lips.
"That’s good." Frankie smiled awkwardly.
After Yvette hung up the phone, she was sure about something.
The Wolseley Group was behind that.
Lunarc and the Wolseley Group had no exchange of interests or financial disputes.
The Wolseley Group made efforts to help Yvette. Other than Lance’s instruction, she could not figure out any other reasons.
Did Frankie help Yvette? Could Frankie himself be convinced?
As Lance’s assistant for years, Frankie could do Yvette a favor.
However, Frankie definitely could not do that in the name of the Wolseley Group. That was a violation.
Frankie would not make such a mistake, and Yvette would not believe that either.
Therefore, it was obvious who had given the order.
Yvette calmed herself down. When she turned around, she saw Lance standing silently behind her. She was shocked.
She stepped back, and Lance mocked, "Do you want to jump off the building?"
Yvette turned around and found the balcony railing under repair. When she talked on the phone, she didn’t notice that she had crossed the cordon formed by the restaurant. Where she was standing was dangerous.
She might fall from the edge.
The restaurant was on the sixth floor of the mall. The consequences would be too ghastly to contemplate.
Lance turned and left after saying that.
It seemed that he did not care about Yvette.
However, Yvette did not think so.
"Lance." She took quick steps forward and caught up with Lance.
Lance did not stop, so Yvette reached out to pull him.
Lance seemed to have sensed that and avoided her. Yvette almost fell down. Fortunately, she grabbed a chair.
Yvette withdrew her hand and smiled at Lance. "Were you just concerned about me?"
Yvette pointed at the cordon behind her and said, "Are you afraid I will fall?"
Lance looked at Yvette with mockery and was about to say something, but Yvette put her hand over Lance’s mouth.
"Listen to me. I know you are concerned about me," Yvette said firmly.
"Have you washed your hands?" Lance looked at her expressionlessly.
Lance’s words made Yvette dumbfounded.
Lance seemed disgusted. He walked to the toilet to wipe his face.
Yvette followed Lance and said behind him, "I won’t give up. I will wait until you want to talk to me."
Lance said nothing.
Yvette turned to leave and became delighted.
Although Yvette could not figure everything out, she firmly believed the love between Lance and her had not dissipated.
They had experienced so much.
Lance had risked his life for Yvette so many times.
Yvette did not believe Lance didn’t love her anymore.
She was heartless if she was easily driven away by him. She wouldn’t leave him to fight alone.
Yvette decided to strive for Lance’s love.
She would live up to their love no matter what the result was.
She wouldn’t leave any regrets.
When Yvette went downstairs, she saw Juliette going upstairs to look for Lance.
Ever since Lance came back, Juliette had not felt at ease for a second.
After Juliette saw Yvette leaving, Lance told her he would go to the toilet. The uneasiness made Juliette want to follow him, but she dared not.
Since Lance went back, he had been kind to Juliette. He even made a promise to her.
That was good, but Juliette was uneasy, worried, and afraid.
She was afraid that the beautiful dream would be shattered.
Juliette sat there uneasily for five minutes and finally went upstairs to look for Lance. When she saw Yvette going downstairs, a tide of rage surged through her.
As Juliette expected, Yvette seduced Lance.
"Yvette."
Juliette looked calm as she walked forward step by step.
"You know Lance has been reconciled with me. Please don’t be shameless and badger him."
"Reconciled? Have you ever been together?" Yvette said ruthlessly.
"I..." Juliette was so angry that she was speechless. "Don’t you know?" she said angrily.
Juliette always stayed together with Lance. She thought that Yvette knew Lance and she were in a relationship.
However, Yvette said indifferently, "I don’t know. When you stand together, it looks like Lance is offering his help to you."
Yvette was afraid Juliette couldn’t understand what she meant, so she explained, "He is a nice guy helping a pregnant woman."
What?
Juliette was so angry that she rolled her eyes. She wanted to look for Lance instead of quarreling with Yvette, so she said fiercely, "Don’t approach him!"
Yvette stopped Juliette. "Juliette, do you know why you are uneasy?"
Yvette’s eyes glittered, which made Juliette panic.
Before Juliette said anything, Yvette said, "Lance doesn’t love you, and you can’t have a steady relationship with him."
"You... Nonsense!"
Juliette was angry. She thought she had won because of the seafood bisque.
Unexpectedly, Yvette made her angry.
"You know whether I am talking nonsense. Do you think no one knows about the evil you have done?"
Yvette smiled. "Remember, the time has not come."
Juliette trembled with anger, but Yvette passed by her gracefully.
Juliette was furious.
She looked around and reached out to pick up a pot plant. She lifted it high...
Just as she was about to throw it down, her wrist was held tightly.
"Let go of me."
Juliette was always rude and unreasonable. Someone would cope with the aftermath for her.
At that moment, she thought there was a nosy man.
Therefore, she said fiercely, "Do you know who I am? How dare you stop me?"
Juliette stopped abruptly when she saw the limited-edition diamond watch.
"Lance..."
Juliette said guiltily, "I wanted to place the pot plant properly."
Lance did not speak nor let go of Juliette.
He held Juliette’s wrist and gradually tightened his hand until there was a cracking sound.
"Ah..."
Juliette screamed.
With a bang, the pot plant fell and hit the back of Juliette’s foot.
Juliette felt a sharp pain.
She broke out in cold sweat with pain and wanted to cry.
When Juliette saw Lance’s pale face, she dared not make any sound.
She even covered her mouth tightly because she was afraid of making an eye-catching sound.
Lance was in black. He turned gloomy and stared fixedly at Juliette from above.
Juliette was trembling in fear. Her voice betrayed her. "Lance, I was not..."
Lance’s legs were slender. He slowly walked downstairs and gently held Juliette’s hand.
"Juliette, you have taken care of your hands well."
Although Lance said that, his eyes were warning Juliette.
He might break her hand anytime and anywhere.
Juliette was so scared that her teeth chattered. She made up her mind and said, "Lance, I am helping you."
Lance raised his eyebrow and remained silent.
Juliette said boldly, "Didn’t you want to dump that woman? With my help, you will achieve your goal soon."
Lance’s face creased into a smile. "Did you send the seafood bisque to help me?"
Juliette bit her lip and said with a grievance, "Yes, Lance. You don’t know Yvette is shameless. I have to help you..."
Before Juliette finished her words, Lance chuckled.
"Juliette, I had given you a chance, and you had made your choice."
They were so close that Juliette could see her panic in Lance’s eyes.
Lance became gloomier. "It seems that I should change to a more obedient one."
"No, Lance. I will be obedient. I will definitely be," Juliette begged.
"Remember not to provoke her."
Lance looked at Juliette’s belly threateningly. "As long as you are obedient, the Wolseley family will take care of the child in your belly."
